What is Supernatural if not a show about Dean Winchester hating himself profoundly and angel of the lord Castiel being like: no Dean, you're perfect actually.
Souheki is purely platonic to me BUT I do love the canon fact Dazai saw Ranpo using his skill-that's-not-actually-a-skill (this is an important precision) once and immediately became his n°1 stan. His diehard fan. The leader of his fanclub (which he created). It's the cutest thing in the world and I love re-reading that part of the light novel just because of Dazai's evident enthusiasm when talking about Ranpo.
I want to see this.
Why couldn't they just bonk each other instead of getting into fist fights and starting apocalypses?
Making my own tags into a separate post because why not?
I didn't get to doing anything proper for this day, but Autistic Ranpo is featured heavily on Day 7, so keep an eye out for that. (this can sort of be read as the background for that post if you want to know what my personal interpretation is.)
Instead let's talk about some of my Autistic Ranpo Headcanons! (ft. Poe and emotional support animal Karl)
(these are my personal hcs based on my autistic experience and is not reflective of everyone's interpretation and experience of autism <3)
I think Ranpo went undiagnosed until several months of living with Fukuzawa. Because of Ranpo's intellect, no one ever really questioned the things he struggled with until Fukuzawa.
The first time Fukuzawa started thinking there might be something actually up (rather than Ranpo just being Ranpo) was the first time he properly got lost trying to navigate the subway. Ranpo ended up going missing for serval hours 4 towns over and Fukuzawa finally found him curled up on a bench having a meltdown.
Another thing that clued him in was food. Fukuzawa, trying to be the Responsible Adult™️, pushed a little too hard about not having so many sweets. It wasn't until there was a big blow-up fight about it that Fukuzawa understood that Ranpo wasn't just being picky.
It took a little time, but the two of them fell into a rhythm and Fukuzawa became a safe space for Ranpo.
Before the agency was set up properly, Fukuzawa kept stim toys and earplugs in his sleeves for whenever Ranpo needed them. (now he keeps them in his desk drawer)
After getting a diagnosis and settling into the agency, Ranpo manages his autism much better. The agency always has someone there to help him navigate, everyone respects him in spite of his childish demeanor, and he has a very set routine.
When things do get overwhelming, he still has places within the agency to calm down. Fukuzawa will always let him join him for tea in his office. Having made a bit of an adoptive sister in Yosano she let's him chill out in his office if he ever needs any down time (everyone's too scared of her to bother him when he's in there.)
The rest of the agency is good at accommodating him too. Kunikida has no problem using his ability to make stim toys or aids for him whenever they're out on a case. Dazai, while kind of a pain in the ass, gives him some good intellectual stimulation when they hang out that's hard for him to get elsewhere (they're besties you can't convince me otherwise). Atsushi carries around snacks for him. And everyone regardless of who they are will help him navigate transportation.
Eventually he also has Poe who he can either go to or call to come and bring Karl. The author has a really calming presence and having a soft animal to pet and play with always helps.
Speaking of Poe, their first interaction will always haunt him as one of his autistic blunders. Ranpo really respected him as a detective and wanted to complement his skills... but didn't quite realize comparing him to himself would sound like gloating. He's really glad to have met Poe again (even if it was through a 6 year revenge plot).
Poe also understands his autism in a way that most people don't, being autistic himself.
The first time Ranpo had a proper meltdown around Poe was before Ranpo had the chance to explain his autism to him. After calming down, Ranpo was super impressed with how Poe dealt with it and it led to a conversation about both of their experiences growing up and why Poe has Karl as his emotional support animal.
Ranpo also gets headaches frequently. He's never really found a cause, but he suspects his autism has something to do with it.
When he was young and lived with Fukuzawa, Fukuzawa would let him sleep with his head in his lap and play with his hair when things got bad. (He would still let him, but Poe does it most often now)
This got long 😅 but I hope you enjoyed! 💖
OKAY, so I know no one ever talks about SAO abridged on here but it's version of Kirito is like definitely autistic, right? I have the tism and I'm just saying, he probably has it too.
I'm not sure about the original Kirito since I couldn't get through season one but i genuinely feel so connected to abridged Kirito. He's so bad at socializing, he's so insecure, and he has a special interest in video games. I mean come on, he would rather live in a video game than in reality. Season 2 really shows the true scope of his autism. He went through serious character growth the last season so he's a lot less egotistical in this one. Because of this we can see what he was hiding before. He genuinely cares about Tiffany and their friendship and he shows this by directly stating it which is like a literal and blunt way to do things which can be autistic. He gets all excited about the new VR fairy game to the point he didn't hear Tiffany talk about his missing wife. He starts rambling and My God I love that scene so much cause he's just so happy and we don't get to see him happy too much. His little "Noooooooo," when he was acting out him destroying all the noobs lives in head rent free.
Kirito also speaks in a lot of sarcasm and movie references. And that is not necessarily an autism symptom but I do that a lot and so do a lot of other autistic people I know. He also takes things literally, like when Asuna (is that how you spell it?) said he really speaks from the heart in episode 2 and he responds, "I thought I was speaking from my mouth, guess that shows what I know about autonomy." He seemed completely serious too.
I just LOVE this Kirito so much to the point when SAO is mentioned I want to say I love that anime but then I remember that it's not the anime that I love but the abridged version on YouTube. Like, I see Kirito fan art and I have to remind myself that it's not the character I fell in love with.
I find it kinda funny that I resonate so much with a fan made thing rather then the original.
Anyway, this giant thing is just a scratch on the surface of reasons I love SAO abridged. The character development, humor, emotional moments and story beats are just so good.
I can go on and on about why I think Kirito is autistic too. Like, I only named a few things.
If Sam found out that Dean was queer I think he would immediately recognize (at least a portion) how suppressing our society is to queer people. Like i think he knew before but it would really hit him. Especially if Dean told him the Nun story.
Every single time they meet a homophobe of some sort, he would get into a violent fight with someone.
SOME SMALL CONSERVATIVE TOWN:
Dean and Sam are talking about a case for breakfast at a restaurant. At the table next to them they both hear an old guy say,
"Those queers are making a racket again. Can't they keep their weird gay shit out of our country?" or something.
Dean makes an unsatisfied noise but continues to eat cause he doesn't care about what some old guy said. Sam however gets up and walks over. He looks over him and another dude sitting with him.
"You want to say that again?"
"What?"
Sam tilts his head slightly. "You want to say that again, asshole?"
"What did you just call me-?"
Sam grabs the front of his shirt and pulls him close. "Don't you ever go around saying shit like that again. Or I'll make sure that's the last thing you say."
I can also see him getting into a fist fight.
(I think he can empathize with Dean with this cause he knows that Dean was hiding a part of himself that he felt was an abomination, a curse. Something his dad and society told him over and over. I think Sam, who always felt like a freak and weirdo, can relate. This makes him really defensive of Dean and against homophobia)
I call this one bleeding heart because apollo is excessively sympathetic to everyone but himself get it
CAS: Sam, may I ask you a question? SAM: Hah! You just did! CAS: *exasperated* Can I ask you another question? SAM: Well, technically you--*sees the murder on Cas's face* — Yeah, go ahead. What's up?
Real dialogue from 9x11, of Cas trying to have an important conversation with Sam and encourage him to talk to his living family. Reminding him that family chooses each other even when the chips are down.
Annoying Sam coming in with the steel chair tho
In the scene that follows Cas is like, "Nothing is worth your life" and "isn't it amazing I've developed empathy now" blahblahblah.
But he still wants to kill Sam sometimes. Both can co-exist.
It's the first time in a long time that I do this, it's like learning to draw again.
Im giving it my all and thank you very much for your nice comments and love! You guys are very good to me 🌷
For this day I was trying to do something with undiagnosed disability/ chronic illness. I think that most of us have had a time in our lives where we didn't understand what's going on and just wish someone would see what we're going through.
If you yourself are at a point in your disability journey without a diagnosis, please know your experiences are real and valid. Whether you have a diagnosis or not. And I wish all of you luck in your journeys moving forward <3
(Note: This is the first time I've done alt text for something this big, so if you have any revisions or better alt text please feel free to send them my way!!)
