Here's a daydream I've had if it helps the brain work

Morpheus and his wife(who's fae) are captured together but under the advice of the Corinthian robert separates them and give morpheus wife to he's friend binding her in a way similar to how Calliope was kept the man who took her and she gets pass down by each generation as a fae that brings good fortune and wealth and when morpheus escapes he comes and finds her with some of that protective and possessiveness. Not a request but and idea I've been dieing to share

Okay okay I was just gonna comment a bit but this somehow turned into full-blown headcanons so yeah I guess it did get the brain working🤣 Thanks for sharing your daydream anon! Here are a few thoughts it gave me:

Warning: mentions of blood and being held captive, overall angst

The magic drains you of power as well when you are captured, but you still struggle to curl around Morpheus when Roderick pulls the cape off him. Trying to cover as much of his naked body as you can, protect him from all the cruel stares

In his weakened state, Morpheus tries to hold onto you while Roderick's men take you away from him. But he doesn't have the strength to stand, let alone stop them from lifting you out of the binding circle and taking you God knows where

Years later, when Jessamy comes to rescue him, he knows there's no way she could break the glass around him. He opens his mouth to speak for the first time in years, and the first thing he wants to tell his raven is to go and find you, see if there is any way that she could free you (because he's sure you're still imprisoned, otherwise you wouldn't have thought twice before coming back for your husband)

But before he can say anything to Jessamy, there's a gunshot and a splash of blood

And now his loss is double

A terrible thought begins to haunt him, than you might have had the same fate. He knows the humans would rather keep you for their own gain than kill you, but he also knows how irrational and cruel they can be. What if...?

He can't allow himself to think of it. Standing still and silent in a glass cage for over a decade is torture enough. Imagining you meeting the same end as Jessamy would drive him to despair

When Morpheus finally, finally escapes, the first thing he does in Alex's dream is demand to know where they took you. Once he has the answer and condemns Alex to an eternal nightmare, he wills himself into your "owner's" mansion

He barely has the strength to punish those who hurt you, but of course he doesn't show it. He's every bit as terrifying to them, if not more so than he was with Alex (I mean we know what he was like with Madoc, no one gets to hurt his lover without suffering the consequences)

When he gets to you, you're not even conscious. You rarely are these days, after having your energy constantly drained for the past century so others could thrive

It's the most horrible sight Morpheus has seen since Jessamy's mangled body - his wife, his queen, his love, barely breathing on some filthy basement floor. After a hundred years without you, after a hundred years without anyone, he yearns to wrap you in his arms. But you look so frail, he barely dares to brush his fingers over your cheek

He uses the last of his strength to bring you both back to the Dreaming. Being transported to another plane is what makes you open your eyes

In your years of captivity, there had been so many moments of pure exhaustion where you could have sworn you heard your husband's deep voice, that you were waking up to his tender touch and the soft sheets of the bed you shared, back in your palace - always a beautiful, cruel illusion

So, when you see him again, you don't even believe it. He's finally with you after all this time, and you're looking at him like he's some kind of ghost conjured up by your broken mind

Lucienne is there, too, her eyes brimming with tears as she offers to help her King and Queen stand

But Morpheus refuses to move. He lies there on the ground with you, holding your face in his hands and murmuring to you over and over again that it is over and he is real and that you are home

And you finally realize this is not the perfect dream your mind usually creates to escape your tragic reality. There is no warmth, no royal bed. The Morpheus before you... his eyes are tired, drained, and there's dirt clinging to his alabaster skin, the dirt you had both unceremoniously landed in

It is real. It is home.

The moment that sinks in, you're pulling him to you with desperate arms, sobbing both your relief and a century of despair into his chest

And he finally gets to hold you to him so tightly, no mere human would be able to breathe were they in your shoes

He rarely shows such emotion towards you in the presence of others, but Lucienne is his most trusted subject

And truth be told, in this moment, his entire realm could be watching and he wouldn't deny you his embrace

Each one of your tears burns him

And he swears right then and there that he will never allow you to get hurt again

Do I need more angst in my life? No. Am I loving the fictional angst? Yesssss
