I don't think I understand dwarves. I get that Khazad-dûm is their main, greatest and most beautiful city, a cultural treasure, but some pretty terrible things did happened there. And yet all they want is to reclaim it again and actually live there. It's like if elves were trying to restore the ruins of Gondolin (were it possible). "Sure, it was our most beautiful stronghold once, but on the other hand thousands of our people died here horribly... which doesn't give me nightmares at all..." I mean, the dwarves deserve our respect.
For small, frequent doses of serotonin, consider falling in love with specific flora and/or fauna local to you.

Beleg before his hair turned silver because of Turin old age.
Don’t worry, I’m still doing modern au requests, I was just hit by inspiration.
For the anon who asked about life drawing, here’s an example of how I do it:
The structuring is the most important part. Try to get the features as accurate as possible. Resist the urge to go into the details. It looks weird right now because of the lack of shading.
Getting the lighting right is also important. You need to figure out where the direct light is coming from.
The rendering is actually the easiest part. Once you’ve got the position of the features and the lighting, all you need to do is fill it in.
Another thing that I’ve had to learn is the importance of contrast. You need darkness to contrast the light parts so don’t be afraid to darken the necessary parts.
This is very true.
@ everyone on tumblr.
Okay, this is pretty incredible. A 3D artist, consulting scholars and archaeologists, worked for a year and a half in Blender to create a reconstruction of pre-Columbian Tenochtitlán, complete with the surrounding landscape. It’s staggeringly beautiful, and—at least to me—gives a wonderful impression of the city as a place where people worked and lived and worshiped
I was entertaining myself with Google Earth (as you do) and "found" this giant submarine channel southwest of Ireland.
This is the Gollum Channel System in the Porcupine Seabight basin.
The name catched my attention, of course, so I opened the first article about this huge underwater canyon (this one) and look what I found:
They're all there!!! Someone had fun with the the naming of these smaller canyons! This is the best thing in a long time...
Not all Tolkien stage adaptations are included 🫥
