i am begging some of y’all to learn the difference between someone being critical of a state’s government/corporations and being phobic towards that state’s people
For small, frequent doses of serotonin, consider falling in love with specific flora and/or fauna local to you.

This really just shows that more than 70 % percent of earth surface is covered by water.
That being said : Cambodia, between Sesan and Mekong river.

Reblog to hug prev poster (they need a hug)
Maybe it’s weird but I genuinly like spiders. They’re fascinating (especially their webs) - eight legs and all.
And when you look at it from the right perspective, Shelob and Ungoliant are both such a strong female characters.
I actually could be on this “third side”.
Okay, so we’re often led to believe that spiders = the Dark Lords, especially in LOTR, where its like “lol yea spiders just hang around Mordor” and in lore for the Hobbit, too, where its like “lol Necromancer’s land is riddled with em” but… does he even fuckin’ like the spiders??? We never see him use them. They’re just AROUND. In the shadows. Trailing him, picking on his Orcs as much as anyone else. I mean, he seems to like Shelob? But that doesn’t necessarily mean he likes all the others… Or is this just like… Him being all “fuck it I’m tired of existence, I’ll align myself to the spiders, too… cause you knnow what they threw my master in the Void and drowned me” I’ve always assumed that since Ungoliant isn’t a creation of Melkor, her brood aren’t even really allies of the Dark Forces. I’ve always seen them as their own faction.
Tak pravil Maedhros v přísaze, || So spoke Maedhros in the oath, stejně Maglor, jehož každý zná, || As did Maglor, who is known by all, Celegorm, Curufin taktéž, || Celegorm and Curufin as well, dvojčata, Caranthir. || The twins and Caranthir. Kdo přísahu slyšel, zachvěl se, || Whoever heard the oath trembled, zazní slova nezrušitelná, || The irrevocable words rang, lhostejno, co pravda, co lež, || Whether they were right or wrong je nedobytný cíl. || Their goal cannot be reached.

I really want to join in the thanks to all of you (you know who you are ;))!!! It was an incredibly kind and beautiful gesture and trust us, all of Falešné Společenstvo was in awe. It was really amazing and the best possible reward after our performance.
It's quite difficult for me to grasp that someone who doesn't speak czech would be interested in our work, let alone put so much work to the translating of our strange language, so all of this is quite surreal. But it's a great encouragement to keep going. :) Thank you!

As a member of Falešné společenstvo I have to thank all the people from Tolkien musical fan group. You can’t even imagine how much this means to me (and I think it’s the same for other members of FS too). I almost cried when you gave us the flowers and the “letter”… Gosh, It’s so beautiful.
This year was especially challenging. Many of us think we were cursed and our journey is painfully similar to Enchanted Isles. Even a few hours before the Tolkiencon premiere there were so many things that went wrong (e.g. broken car and keyboard stand) and I don’t even talk about cast changes because of illnesses…
After all those years I’m a little bit burnt out (even though compared to some other members I don’t even do a quarter of their work) and I was even feeling like quitting. Of course, I didn’t mainly because well… without a very good reason, you can’t quit a few weeks before the premiere. But the other reason was that there are people outside the traditional visitors of Tolkiencon, who enjoy our work on its own, and who even want to travel from other countries just to see us. You guys are one of the few reasons, why I had a will to continue and a will to try to deliver the best possible performance. (Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best performance. Acting and singing in the gym are very hard because of the people who sit a few meters before you and you can look directly to their faces… I really wish you could see our unofficial performance last week. It is always in a little theatre and probably because of that this, performance is very often better than the premiere one).
So, thank you so so much again. You are really amazing. And I truly hope our play was worth your journey and you have enjoyed your stay at Tolkiencon and Prague…

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.
