Holy crap—is that a Jack Frost eyepatch on Buccaneer 1???

HAPPY FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY ETRIAN ODYSSEY NEXT STAGE TEASER!!! GO ATLUS KEEP GIVING US NOTHING!!!!!
So are we gonna wait for ATLUS to release EO3U, or is somebody just gonna mod that themselves??
Well, it’s not much, but I’ve made an Etrian Odyssey 3 Untold soundtrack to ease the fandom’s pain. Has a lot of fan-works and official remixes as well.

God's work 👏
Consider this a sort of follow-up to my Portrait mods from last month.
EOV Voice Dub in EO Nexus Mod
This mod takes the 40 selectable English voices from Etrian Odyssey V and transplants them into Etrian Odyssey Nexus. As Nexus has 60 voice slots, 20 remain as Japanese voices; the 8 'generic' voices which are mostly just grunts were all left alone.
I tried to reorganize them to most appropriately fit their previous 'name' from EOV. For example, Male Voice 16 in EOV was called 'Cheeky', and was assigned Male slot 3, 'Precocious' in Nexus. Some are more fitting than others. Some get to keep the same name (Sultry, Hearty, Militant, Timid). Probably the weakest fit was 'Strict' for the Granny voice (Elderly) from EOV.
This mod also 'removes' all voices for NPCs. Technically, what it does is instead play a silent file instead of their original lines. The music will still get quieter when they speak, but they won't actually say anything.
I ultimately had to make this a packed 'MORI' file, instead of an unpacked files, because while unpacked, it's about 8000 files across 4000 folders, which takes like two-and-a-half hours to move onto a 3DS. It's a bigger filesize this way, but it should only take ten minutes to put onto a 3DS, instead of 130. It's still compatible with other unpacked files, but it won't be with other packed files. Like before, I can't really go into the details of actually setting up a 3DS to be modded, but once you're there, it's not too complicated to get this working.
Now; Nexus and EOV have similar but not identical voice sets. In short, EOV lacks voices for successfully escaping, levelling up, anything Force related, and whatever 'GUEST and GUILD_SEL' are. Nexus lacks lines for waking up from sleep, Union-based stuff, and has less slots for taking L(arge) Damage.
For these cases I improvised with other existing EOV lines. Escaping reuses Avoid lines, Levelling uses Assigning Skill Point lines, Force Boosting uses a mix of Union lines and self-buff lines, and Force Breaks use their equivalent 'standard skill attack' versions. (ie. a Bind/Ailment-inflicting Force Break will use the same lines they'd use then using a Bind skill). Sometimes those might not actually be that great a fit, especially across 40 different voices.
Also, truth be told, I actually never found any way to actually open and play the .SSND files, nor can I actually understand Japanese. Both these factors made me more than a little blind going through this, so there's little to no way I know of to test the work other than to try it directly in game. Whether that makes this mod and the effort it took more impressive or just plain stupid is up to your discretion.
You didn’t have to break my heart on a Wednesday like this….
This is screwed up, ATLUS—what the hell??
(People are free to ignore if ya’ll aren’t interested. But I need to get this off my chest.)
It still drives me insane that, despite Atlus dropping a major hint/teaser about Etrian Odyssey 3 Untold, no one ever talks about it.
This showed up on a poll that was linked on their twitter about which of these games fans wanted to be made/brought over a couple years back. I voted in it, for the EO3U to be made and come to the USA.
(For those who can’t read it, the title says “Etrian Odyssey 3 Untold: Wayfarers of Armoroad”)
But it has yet to come. And EO3U wasn’t the lowest one in the poll! That Cathrine game was!! (When I voted) And yet it’s shown up just fine!
It was in the middle upper area of the rankings. I was sure that meant it was gonna come out. I saw the top one (Persona) and the Bottom one show up, but where the hell is my Etrian game?!
I want it! I wanna play it! I want to see how they’ve added to the original and boosted the good things that it had at the start!
Playing the OG version is good, but I am a casual player and this thing kicks my arse regularly. Hands it to me on a silver platter. Which sucks as someone who loves playing games for their stories and seeing everything that the game has to offer. I have to fight tooth and nail for what I can, but I still have yet to finish the first stratum.
(Also, I deeply wish I had the tools that I’d grown used to using from the more recent Etrian games.)
It’s just… I really want to play the game with all the tools/refinement that their teams had put into the series with each new iteration.
(I am also very upset that Odin Sphere never came to Switch either. I wanted to try it since I don’t/didn’t have the one platform I could play it on.)
They’ve made it clear that they had stuff in the works for it, why else would they make a title and box art if they weren’t? I mean, Persona and Cathrine used the exact box-art from their poll in the final version!
Please ya’ll, spread this one around. Share this post off of tumblr. I feel like the only way this is gonna become real is if people make a fuss about it. Especially in places where you know there are people theorizing/talking about it.
There has to be some way to make this happen. And I want it to happen. (And I know other people want it too.)
Etrian Odyssey III’s Sea Quests were cool—especially in that you could play them multi player. It is my sincere hope the when EO6 rolls around we can get a similar thing—hopefully with online capabilities!
I’m actually stuck please get me a Thread
