Some Self-indulgent (well, More Than Usual) Art Of My Fursona. I’ve Pretty Much Always Wanted To Be

Some self-indulgent (well, more than usual) art of my fursona. I’ve pretty much always wanted to be a dad-mom, settle down and have kids with someone, but a lot in my life has made that very unlikely. So instead, Matonne gets to be my proxy.

His wife (and other mother to their kid) is the cat gal I sketched up 3 years ago (to the day and that was not planned). I still have no name for her or their kid.

[Image Description: Drawing of two humanoid furry characters sitting on a couch, talking to each other while drinking hot cocoa. The one on the left is an adult with tan fur, the head of a rabbit, the tail of a lion, and the legs of a horse. He is wearing a dress that says “World’s Okayest Dad” and holding a mug that says “#2 Mom, My wife won out”. He is also pregnant. He is smiling down at his toddler child as they raise their fist in joy. The toddler looks like a Siamese cat with white hands and white hooves for feet. They are wearing a yellow shirt with a blue heart on it, striped yellow leggings, and a bracelet. On the walls are various photos and paintings, some of these photos are of the characters and their family. End of Description]

A drawing of a humanoid character on a stony path lined with bushes, smile on her face. Her light skin is wrinkled and her tied back hair is silver, both signs of her age. She walks with a cane, and has her giant purple dragon wings and tail spread out behind her, slightly torn at the edges. Here she is adorned in a loose black shirt, gray pants with a blue wrap loosely tied over them, and large black boots.

First time drawing one of my pal @nerdwingarts‘s characters for ArtFight. The outfit was probably the most challenging to come up with (you can tell my expertise lies mostly with modern Western fashion) but I had a lot of fun just drawing those giant wings.

A drawing of a blue sphere named ART with feathery blue wings, three blue rings wrapped around it, and an eye where the rings cross. It is staring down at a tiny turquoise cyborg, Murderbot, both floating through the white expanse they are within. Surrounding them is a ring of circles, all in blue.

Artificial Condition - Murderbot

For the full resolution image, click here.

Under the cut are clues to what everything means.

Not all of these are references, but a lot of them are.

If something has a unit next to it, convert it to one you’re more familiar with.

The coordinates and cargo amounts are Dewey Decimal.

Those seemingly random pairs of numbers and letters are text converted to hexadecimal.

The binary means nothing.

If you don’t know what an image is, it’s probably related to quantum mechanics.

An abstract drawing. At the top is a large black blob with binary numbers within it. Radiating from the blob are black and white dots and blue and tan paint strokes. A curved white line runs from the large blob down to a smaller black blob. Where the curve meets the smaller blob is a blue star. The smaller blob is surrounded by white and blue concentric curves and tan rectangles. The background is a grainy blue and orange gradient bordered by black.

The actually first piece of Murderbot fanart I ever made (over a year ago now). Drew this up immediately after finishing Network Effect fueled by queerplatonic Murderhelion feels.

So yes, this is technically ship art of a technologically advanced ship named ART and its security unit.

No, the binary does not mean anything.

[Image Description: A Drawing Of A Tan Centaur Galloping To The Right. The Centaur Has A Long Brown Tail, brown

[Image Description: A drawing of a tan centaur galloping to the right. The centaur has a long brown tail, brown hair tied in a ponytail, and stubble. They are wearing a pink shirt with a unicorn on it and a white and gold scarf around their human waist. In the top right corner is a small colored sketch of the centaur from the front. End of Description.]

Decided to take a stab at drawing my favorite little centaur, Chet, from one of my favorite graphic fiction series, Moonstruck. The artwork is top notch, the characters are such a delight, and its specific take on the urban fantasy setting is so fun and probably my favorite variation. Go read it if you’re in the mood for some lighthearted queer romance or fantasy.

Reference sheet of an anthropomorphic cow character. He is orange-brown, very muscular, and has pale orange curly hair that is sometimes in dreadlocks. He has a large burn scar that runs from his upper left arm to his right eye and wing tattoo on his back. His left ear is torn and his right horn in broken. He is wearing an asymmetrical green crop top, a green and blue slit skirt, blue high heals, gold jewelry, and green make-up.

The reference sheets shows this information about him:
Name: Octávio Aprilis
Species: Cattle
Birth Year: 1996
Height: 6 feet 9 inches
Pronouns: He/Him
Occupation: Drag Queen/Thrift Store Worker
Gender: Male
Orientation: Gay/Vincian

Rounding out my furry world with a friend/coworker of Camry and Matonne. He’s based on suggestions from some friends to make an intimidating-looking, but actually kind guy and a beefy feminine man (and no, I did not notice the pun until just now). He’s also my first ever mostly muscular character, a body type I’m much less confident in drawing.

Drawings of the abstract form of the Murderbot Diaries character, ART/Perihelion. It typically looks like a black sphere with binary code on its surface, surrounded by blue rings lined with smaller black and white spheres. In the main, image ART is saying, “Do not attempt to hack my systems”.

However, its appearance changes slightly based on the situation.

In one image, ART is a black sphere, surrounded by three blue rings. Where the rings intersect is a black eye. It has four wispy blue wings and a ring of white spheres surrounding it.
This image is labeled with the text: “If it looks like this‪, RUN!‬ Or watch several weeks worth of TV with it, I guess. I mean, it’s your semi-artificial consciousness on the line.”

In another image, ART is a blue sphere with six wispy pale blue wings and a ring of dark blue circles behind its wings.
This image is labeled with the text: “Oh, so you did watch TV with it…‪Cool.”‬

‪In the image labeled “Quiet/Focused”, ART’s rings are lying flat around the main sphere with the smaller dots inside the rings.‬

‪In the image labeled “Compressed” ART is a sphere wrapped in black feathery wings. When the wings are unfurled, the sphere underneath is bright blue with binary code flowing through it.‬

‪In the image labeled “‬Number of rings varies from 1 - question mark” ART is a black sphere surrounded by four blue rings.

Some drawings of ART/Perihelion, or rather what ART looks like to other machines. ART usually takes the bottom middle form, but its appearance varies based on its mood and/or what it’s doing.

Do augmented humans see it like this too? I’m not sure yet, but right now I am leaning towards “some of them”.

Based on an ophanim (those wheel/ring angels), planetary systems, and Bohr atom models.

Bonus spoiler character from Book 5: Network Effect under the cut

Murderbot 2.0

A drawing of the Murderbot Diaries character Murderbot 2.0. It is a white sphere with turquoise binary code on its surface. It is surrounded by a segmented turquoise ring.

Accidentally posted this to my main blog.

Three drawings of a fat brown humanoid cat. The first drawing is her from the front without clothes. The second drawing is her from the front wearing a green collared shirt and jeans. The third drawing is her from the back without clothes. The following information is listed about the character:
Name: Beverly “Bev” Collina
Species: Cat
Job: Novelist
Birth Year: 2000
Height: 5 feet 9 inches
Pronouns: She/Her
Gender: Female
Orientation: Lesbian

Updated the design and finally gave a name to that one cat girl I drew years ago. Friend, girlfriend, wife (depending on where in the timeline things are) of Matonne. A generally quiet gal who likes to spend her Ike reading and writing contemporary fantasy. Can frequently be found in libraries, bookstores, hobby shops, and whatever patch of nature sparks her inspiration.

Drawing of an anthropomorphic lion-like creature (named Matonne) with shaggy medium-length hair sitting with her back to the viewer. She looks at the viewer with an angry and exhausted expression, her ears drooping and her tail flat on the ground. She is wearing gray shorts and a t-shirt that says on the back, “Don’t talk to me til my healthcare is free”.

This was gonna be part of a larger project years ago, but this is the only part I even started on.

Guess it counts now as vent art, of the frustration of being both sick and/or disabled and having to go through so many hoops just to get the care you know exists, with some of those hoops being financial in my case.
