Okay can i be honest here? I really hate it when people say this. Some do. Very few. I got one of the very few. My managers son is a straight trans man, and is one of the craziest, kindest ladies I've ever met.
I work at a ren faire, and in my first year, i didnt have any garb to wear that wasnt fem (im trans masc) so when i got the company provided uniforms (they were trash) my manager noticed i didnt have a belt. What did she do? Asked her son who previously worked the faire if i could borrow a belt. She came back with a belt and said "here, my son said you can keep it, he doesn't use his stuff much any more :)"
And this belt has been my day to day belt every day since then. That was 3 years ago.
Another instance was relatively recently, where i had my sr prom. I didnt have anything masc to wear. So what did she do? Asked her son if he'd be alright with me borrowing his clothes, and he was. I ended up being able to find everything i wanted through thrifting. Her son even wants to go thrufting some time!
And if i see ANYTHING saying the ren faire isnt a real job because it's only during the weekend or some other bs BECAUSE IT IS and i would claw my way through for that statement and my manager and her son and my whole work team because theyre all so lovely and nice.
Being autistic is like saying, "Hmm. Need different music. This genre is making my mouth dry." And people understanding it as "hmm. Need different music. This genre is trash. " When i QUITE LITERALLY mean it makes my mouth dry. Like why would i say otherwise when that's literally what i mean?
Also, is that just me? Like- does anyone else's mouth get dry when listening to their "i listened to this song for 257 hours straight because it tickled my brain, but now its boring" music?
I fucking hate that the general response to RFK Jr's eugenist take on autistic people is "autistic people do pay taxes, autistic people do work, autistic people do date!"
Some autistic people don't and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life. Some autistic people do need constant help and support and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life.
Once again we're falling in the right wing trap of :
They make a hateful, fascist statement
Instead of focusing on the fact that it is hateful and fascist we try to show them that they are factually wrong
We throw our own allies and the most vulnerable of us under the bus in the process
We legitimise an only slightly less hateful, fascist view as we go
They have completed their goal of making us accept the still hateful, fascist second version, hurrah. What a victory.
Right now what we're getting to with that is that autistic people who can work and pay taxes are okay, and the others aren't. Fuck this shit.
Same thing happens with the people who are being deported ("they have a visa!", "they didn't even have a criminal record!" -> even if they didn't have a visa, even if they did have a criminal record, deporting them and detaining them in what's essentially a concentration camp wouldn't be okay, you absolute tools of fascism.)
Eating is a gross, disgusting act. Its almost carnal. Its barbaric. Its ugly.
But, id eat with you. I wouldnt mind showing you ugly and gross, as long as you wouldnt mind showing me ugly and gross, too.

“When we were introduced, I held in one hand a gin and tonic and in the other several salted almonds, which, when I realized our handshake was imminent, I tossed into my mouth carelessly, to free the obligatory hand; my behavior inmediately after that may have seemed strange: a silent nod, averted rolling eyes, a broken greeting. I was choking on the almonds. It was nothing personal”
The ONE thing i have found that helps with Second Hand Embarrassment is...!
Losing/Not Using The Controller!!
Its a wonderful tactic due to its ability to force one to watch through the whole Second Hand Embarrassment Inducing Scene, WITHOUT ALLOWING FOR ONE TO PAUSE.
It is also a torture method.
But you can get through The Scene much faster and better (like you would watching it at a movie theater) than if you were to pause! In my case, pausing the show to avoid The Scene to or recover from The Scene causes me to want to Stop Watching The Series/Movie to avoid The Scene, resulting in a Disinterest.
To lose the controller or to Not lose the controller, oh which should i choose.
It's my 1 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
Cutesy awesome sauce
The difference is this mysterious "anxious attachment style" thought process generally (from what ive seen idk im not an expert) only applies to like 2 important people
"Do you still like me?" "Are you mad at me?" "Did i do something wrong?" Disorder is unfortunately indiscriminately targeting everyone around me, myself and complete strangers included.
There is no escaping the "Do you still like me?" "Are you mad at me?" "Did i do something wrong?" Disorder
cursed with "do you still like me?" "are you mad at me?" "did i do something wrong?" disorder
