Do you wish you looked like a little woodland creature that delivers mail to forest denizens? Or a louche 18th-century dandy? Or some type of wizard's apprentice? Well then you're in luck! For the first time in YEARS I am opening to sewing commissions and my absolute favourite thing is to help people live their hobbitty dreams.
Anything!
Well... okay. Most things. I'm particularly good at gender-affirming historical clothing, nontraditional wedding/celebration attire, and historybounding or fantasy inspired outfits. I mostly make clothing for everyday wear, but I'm also happy to work on cosplays.
I especially like to make poet shirts/pirate shirts (call them what you like, it's the Mr. Darcy shirt) as well as capes and cloaks of all stripes. But like I said, I'm open to most things. I like to collaborate—so come to me with an idea or some inspiration characters, and we'll talk. I also love vests.
One type of project I particularly love is making unique wedding attire. I'm not your best choice for white dresses or tuxedos, but if you want something really unique (or especially something fantasy-inspired) for your wedding, show me your Pinterest board! Below are some photos of me and my wife in the gowns I made, but I'm super interested in making things that aren't dresses as well, like decorative waistcoats or very dramatic wedding capes. Please note that for fitted bodices, we'll need to coordinate some type of fitting, either in-person or by mail.
You tell me! Instead of having fixed prices, I want to hear what you can afford and then adjust what I make to get to that. I'm very transparent with my pricing: I need you to cover the cost of materials, shipping, and a reasonable hourly rate for my labour.
Realistically, a garment made from scratch isn't going to be comparable to the low costs you'll see for fast fashion; and the more frills you want (hand stitched lacing holes, trim, fully hidden seams, very specific tailoring, etc.) the more it's going to cost. So come to me with your budget and we'll talk from there!
You can always send me a message on tumblr, but the best way to reach me is through my email: arielle.marina.d@gmail.com
And if you like my work but aren't interested in having something made yourself, please reblog or share with your friends to spread the word!
The good thing about studying my career is that I'm reading a physics book at the same time that one about the mayas and their history. The duality of college.
I kind of like to multitask since it makes everything a little bit easier for me
So my best friend and I are planning to live together when we finish studying, the problem? He loves minimalism with very sober decoration but a little bit of funny touch, and I love the most tacky and strange things you can find. So I only can do the curtains and under the condition that he has to see them first. They are going to be by crochet.
It's hard finding a balance but somehow we are doing it.
For reference, this is a gag photo I sent him.
It might be amazing for some people but for my best friend and I is not that amazing.
“Get a rat and put it in a cage and give it two water bottles. One is just water, and one is water laced with either heroin or cocaine. If you do that, the rat will almost always prefer the drugged water and almost always kill itself very quickly, right, within a couple of weeks. So there you go. It’s our theory of addiction. Bruce comes along in the ‘70s and said, “Well, hang on a minute. We’re putting the rat in an empty cage. It’s got nothing to do. Let’s try this a little bit differently.” So Bruce built Rat Park, and Rat Park is like heaven for rats. Everything your rat about town could want, it’s got in Rat Park. It’s got lovely food. It’s got sex. It’s got loads of other rats to be friends with. It’s got loads of colored balls. Everything your rat could want. And they’ve got both the water bottles. They’ve got the drugged water and the normal water. But here’s the fascinating thing. In Rat Park, they don’t like the drugged water. They hardly use any of it. None of them ever overdose. None of them ever use in a way that looks like compulsion or addiction. There’s a really interesting human example I’ll tell you about in a minute, but what Bruce says is that shows that both the right-wing and left-wing theories of addiction are wrong. So the right-wing theory is it’s a moral failing, you’re a hedonist, you party too hard. The left-wing theory is it takes you over, your brain is hijacked. Bruce says it’s not your morality, it’s not your brain; it’s your cage. Addiction is largely an adaptation to your environment. […] We’ve created a society where significant numbers of our fellow citizens cannot bear to be present in their lives without being drugged, right? We’ve created a hyperconsumerist, hyperindividualist, isolated world that is, for a lot of people, much more like that first cage than it is like the bonded, connected cages that we need. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection. And our whole society, the engine of our society, is geared towards making us connect with things. If you are not a good consumer capitalist citizen, if you’re spending your time bonding with the people around you and not buying stuff—in fact, we are trained from a very young age to focus our hopes and our dreams and our ambitions on things we can buy and consume. And drug addiction is really a subset of that.”
— Johann Hari, Does Capitalism Drive Drug Addiction?
I'm an avid crocheter, but holding the hook for long periods of time became exhausting and painful. Being chronically ill, losing the ability to enjoy my hobbies was tough for me accept.
My husband took me to the craft store and we purchased a ergonomic crochet handle. This handle needed to fit my criteria;
able to hold a variety of hook sizes
hold up to high tension crochet projects (I do a lot of amigurumi crochet, which you need to complete with tight tension)
reduce my wrist/hand pain
reduce the amount of grip strength needed to hold the hook to avoid fatigue
This ergonomic crochet handle *seemed* to tick all these boxes. It was quite an expensive purchase and to be honest, I was disappointed in it in all aspects.
The purchased handle uses small rubber stoppers to hold the crochet hook in place, but as you are crocheting the hook works loose and spins around inside it. The handle itself was too small, making it painful to hold. I had to use a lot of grip strength to keep it in my hand, which is what I was trying to avoid by purchasing the darn thing. The little knobbly bit at the end really dug into my hand and hurt. It was so annoying to use and I gave up on it altogether after three days of using it (not to mention one of the rubber pieces broke apart within hours).
I expressed my disappointment to my husband, and he decided to come to my rescue! Over the course of a week, he designed me his own ergonomic crochet handle in a computer program called CAD. He then printed it out using his 3D printer. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this new handle - its a game changer!
During the design process, he took into consideration all of my complaints about the disappointing handle and my criteria that I had listed. The handle he designed is bigger, so it uses less grip strength to hold it in place which also reduces my pain.
Instead of using rubber stoppers like the other handle, he designed a 'lock and key' system for keeping the crochet hooks in place and it works fabulously! The hook never moves and I'm really rough with my crochet hooks. It holds up to my high tension crochet projects and I have completed many amigurumi with it, even small, intricate items. Since it is designed with the lock and key system, my husband was easily able to print different keys to be able to hold multiple sizes. I've got keys ranging from 1.25mm all the way up to 6mm!
I can now crochet for hours on end and I swear my crochet skills have gotten so much better.
After expressing my delight at the crochet handle my husband designed for me, both him and I want others to be able to experience the freedom that I now have when crocheting. With chronic illnesses, its important for you to be able to continue with your passions as much as possible, so we have decided to make this crochet handle a sellable physical item for others to enjoy.
Here's the link to purchase one if you would like to give it a go!
Each crochet handle will come with the hook sizes;
1.25mm
2mm
3mm
4mm
4.25mm
5mm
6mm
If you want other hook sizes, send us a message and we can design one.
The cost of the handle and keys covers the cost of the 3D printing material, we are not making a profit off of this because we want as many people suffering from chronic illness to be able to enjoy crocheting again. We are happy to post internationally as we are based in New Zealand, send us a message before purchasing so that I can get you the cost of shipping.
I hope you will love this crochet handle and hook set as much as I have!
i love the crochet girlies that make free patterns esp video tutorials i cant wait to make mini moo dengs for my friends
Finishing my homework feat resident evil 7 by vegeta777, a very well known YouTuber here in Spain.
Weaving back the thread is actually quite difficult, but I'm managing to finish it.
Tell me you are fucked with out telling it, I'm starting, I have to make a 10.000 word easy for tomorrow and I only got a little bit over the middle of the essay, I say middle because Google docs does not count the notes you make, so that makes it's roughly 5.000 words. And tomorrow I have to work so I'm probably going to end up like today, working my ass off because I thought I could do it in a week.
Welp, you need to learn in some way. The good thing is that my essay is heavily influenced by photos, so it's going to be easier to instead of doing 10.000 words do like 7.000 and call it a day.
What I'm doing is a technique to sew threads together when they are broken, since we can't really use knots or very invasive methods we use a special glue that then we have to apply heat so it stays together
Kind of not doing notes, I'm working on some crochet, but I've finally learned how to take chemistry notes,so I'm quite happy!!
Sooo, maybe I've been a little mia, in my defense I went from having no job to having two, and between that and the college deadlines I've been quite stressed.like the three days I don't tutor I stay at the library with some classmates studying, and the days that I do tutor and have my other job I eat fast AF and study either when I come back or before going. Being a college student and working is quite tiring, but my career and the money in my back account are worth it. I might even be able to move out of my parents house when graduation comes
It's ok to not finish books.
It's ok to be a quarter way, half way, most way through a book and go "you know what, this is not working".
DNFs are nothing to be ashamed of.
I'd had to suffer through to the end a few too many pieces of literature that I abhorred with every ounce of my being during my school years, I'm not one to judge anyone for not wanting to do that.
Isn't it odd how much fatter a book gets when you've read it several times? As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells... and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there too.. a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower... both strange and familiar.
- Cornelia Funke, The Inkheart
This is the first and last time I'm going to talk about this, so listen, I'm not going to talk about anything concerning political reasons, except the Dana in Valencia because I needed to help spread the information for all the Spanish people I could, is it selfish, probably, do I give a fuck, no, it's my blog and I'm going to talk about whatever makes me confortable, the point of this is for people stop sending me gaza and other catastrophe related asks, I'm not going to answer them, they make me uncomfortable because I can't donate to go fund me, I help in other ways, like in campaigns of food/clothes... Where I actually donate the things they ask for. It's good that we help each other, but I'm centering in my country and my mental health, because that is also important.
And remember, it's your blog, talk about whatever you are comfortable without having to take any side, your ideals and your online persona doesn't have to be on display 24/7.
And for the people that might tell me that in with Israel or Rusia no I'm not, I'm with Palestine and Ukraine, I just hate talking about wars and the climax of insecurities is causing, I already talk a lot about it in my real life that I don't want my online persona to also be dominated by it.

When the study group consists of a fifth grader, a vocational training student and two college students. We are actually getting a lot of things done.
Literal
listen. i don't mind studying in fact i like learning new stuff every day (yeah i might be a constantly distracted mf but that's a different talk) BUT I SWEAR TO GOD my college will make me have a stroke!!!!
is the most disorganized institution in the world. nobody knows shit in that fucking building but everything is a "no, we don't know, don't even think about it, not in a million years, fuck u!" answer every time you have the slightest inconvenience.
bureaucracy made me hate my degree choice.
A lot of us have gotten more radicalized with this, but it's honestly terrifying how this tragedy has made so many people turn to the far-right.
Yesterday I had a huge argument with a good friend of mine because of this He's always been a leftist, but he shared a screenshot of a far-right protest and, when I told him it was organized by the far-right, he told me he would support whoever was helping Valencia and that right now it was the right and not the left. Which, alright, fair, they all suck right now, but my brother in Christ let's not forget it was the right that cut funds directed towards first responders, firefighters and EMTs to put them towards killing bulls in the name of tradition. Let's not forget it was the right that tried to shut down the AEMET because it was "useless". It was the right that wouldn't allow help from outside, too scared of having to face the consequences and the thousands - sorry, """hundreds""" of people they've killed with their incompetence and greed. It's the far right that ignored nine, NINE warnings from the AEMET, because they didn't want to lose money, but sent their own workers home early so they could evacuate.
It's the far-right that is refusing help and resources to POC and immigrants, and it's the far right that is spinning the narrative so people shout "Sánchez dimisión" instead of "Mazón asesino".
It's terrifying to see how the far-right benefits from the desperation and pain they caused directly.
THERE WOULDN'T BE MORE THAN 2 THOUSAND DEATHS IF THE FAR RIGHT REGIONAL GOVERNMENT HAD DONE ITS JOB. THERE WOULDN'T BE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MISSING PEOPLE IF THE FAR RIGHT GOVERNMENT HAD ACCEPTED THE OUTSIDE HELP AND ASKED FOR IT.
The ""leftist"" central government can't do anything if the Generalitat doesn't ask for help, because the far right made sure that the leftist central government couldn't do it during the last national crisis - the pandemic.
"Don't make this about politics" but it was a far right politic who cut funds from public services that would've saved lives. "Don't make this about politics" but it was a far right politic who tried to shut down the AEMET. "Don't make this about politics" but it's a far right government that is refusing help, arresting people who are shoplifting basic necessities, and telling volunteers to leave because the fucking King wants to take a stroll through the disaster zones.
"Don't make this about politics" but the far right kills. The far right is the direct responsible of thousands of deaths.
So I'm probably not going to be able to post that much, since I'm a volunteer for organizing the donations from Madrid to Valencia, and I'm in a group of young restaurateurs that are working on helping people restore personal items (photos, documents...) when the most important part of the cleaning is done. This is so people will stop throwing away their personal belongings that we can try to save, not everything will be saved but maybe it will help with the grief the Dana has caused.
So if anyone reading this is from Valencia please don't throw away your photos, put them on a bag with holes and hold onto them till we can go. We know this isn't a priority, but it is also important to let people know they have this option. For more information go to the Instagram page of the UPV. If anyone is interested in contacting this group this is the email: restauracionyrecuperaciondana@gmail.com
EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS FOR VALENCIA, PLEASE READ AND SHARE
Valencia has suffered the consequences of a really destructive flood, so I'll be taking commissions via Ko-fi. Just make a donation (5€ minimum), name a character you'd like me to draw, and I'll contact you asap. All the money will be donated to people from Valencia, used to buy food, water, hygiene products, etc, for the families who have lost everything.
Please read!!
Since October 29, Spain has been going through one of the worst flash floods of this century. The Community of Valencia has been the most affected, but the cold drop also passed through the south-west and is moving now to the north-east.
So far, 211 bodies have been found, and more than 2000 people are still missing. Most fatalities are from Valencia, entire towns are ravaged and isolated as they don't have electricity and the roads have been destroyed. A lot of people has lost their home, more than 15k homes don't have eletricity and they are in need of food, water and hygienic products
The reason Valencia was the most affected is because, despite given a warning 5 days before from the AEMET (Spain's official meteorological agency) of the possible mass floodings due to the cold drop, and the same morning of the catastrophe, it's authorities didn't warn it's people. Valencia's government waited 12h after the last warning from the AEMET (and it's president even said it would subside 2h before the floodings) before declaring the red alert, at 8pm. By then, many people was already caught in the flood while going or coming back from work.
Although politicians must be accountable, our priority is to help those in need, most which have lost their house, belongings and means to live. Because of this, here are some fundraisers and non-profits you can donate to help both people and animals that have been affected (these are from the thread I've just posted, but I'll add more if I find them!):
Horta Sud is a county in Valencia that has been the most affected by the floodings. People are leaving their houses because they're scared of the infrastructure getting damaged and even walking by foot to Valencia capital to get food.
Letur (Albacete) is a town that has been destroyed by the floods. You can help rebuild it by donating to this gofundme that's directly coordinated with the town hall.
Hambre Cero is a Spanish food bank non-profit that was founded after the earthquakes in Indonesia. They're currently active in Palestine and Lebanon but they'll also be giving food to those who need it in Spain.
El Refugio de María a dog shelter in Sueca (Valencia), is completely flooded, leaving the dogs visibly distressed and without a proper place to sleep. You can donate to their PayPal: maria.g.may@gmail.com
Protectora San Antón is a shelter for cats and dogs in Jerez de la Frontera. It's flooded and the animals don't have a comfortable place to sleep in. If you live in Spain you can bizum them @ 635011715 If not, PayPal protectorasananton@hotmail.com
Help Sara and her family rebuild their home in Valencia.
Refugio Minipow was home to 50 rabbits and guinea pigs. Thankfully, the owners were able to move all the animals to their homes and those of their neighbors, though the shelter itself has been destroyed right after recent renovations. They accept help through PayPal, Bizum or a transference to their bank account.
Una copa por Valencia ("a drink to Valencia") is a campaign organized by Spanish influencer David Aliagas. The idea behind it is to donate the amount of money you would spend on drinks on a night out. He'll be joining effort with local non-profits.
Help the people of Mira (Cuenca) rebuild their hometown.
This group of artists is giving away drawings to people who donate at least 5€ to any of the fundraisers listed in the thread!!!
You can donate to Valencia's food bank by making a transfer to this bank account: ES86 2100 2806 6402 0009 8998
Thread of artists that are accepting comissions for Valencia:
This artist has been directed by the floodings. He just opened emergency comissions
I'll add more fundraising campaigns I find on Twitter/Bluesky, but until then, please consider helping in any way you can! Even if it's just by sharing!
I normally don't like to post about politics or what's happening around the world, I know what's happening but I need this little space of the internet to be blissfully unaware of it. A little content warning ⚠️ I'm going to talk about it in the most realistic way possible, if it triggers you don't read it, I'm going to talk about deceased people and the reality of the people of valencia at this moment. So if any of these things aren't your cup of tea I get it, don't read, mental health comes first.
So this is one of the few times I'm breaking that no post policy to speak about what is happening in Valencia, Spain, I'm not from that specific comunidad autónoma but is something that affects all Spain, not just economically, also on personal levels, I know people that has been affected by it and they told us that they were speaking one another to go and be able to identify the corpses of their loved ones, that the death's on the news are way lower that the reality, we have over 2000 missing people. This is a very serious hit to our country, it has passed over night and the governor of valencia is doing a nefarious work in trying to mend it, we had the king and queen, the president of the Spain and the one of the comunidad Valenciana going there and being thrown rocks, and other things,( I would also like to add that people were calling the king and queen everything, that's normally considered treason, but with how people were reacting to them and the fact that with one wrong move we would have the third republic the had to bear with it, not to pity them, just an important fact) because no helping has been able to go there and they are wasting resources and time in cleaning and getting food for the people. We have underground parking that are graveyards, the people of the UME (the Spanish special forces for things like this) are going to need a physiatrist for all they are seeing, the same with normal people. They don't have anything and all because the president of the comunidad Valenciana decided to not listen to Aemet and cutting on the emergency unit a few years ago. If the UME and the people don't clean the streets we are also going to have problems with various quite dangerous virus, like typhus, but the military nor volunteers can access most of the towns nor there are enough people because the president of valencia, doesn't want to accept help from anyone, not form other of the 16 community's or from other countries, France sent 200 firefighters with out permission because we couldn't handle it, and the president of valencia ended up asking for 500 military men and the president of spain sent 5000.
I kind of needed to rant, because we have boxes and boxes full of basic need things, food, clothes... And buses full of volunteers that also aren't being distributed because they don't know how to do it, and they put the wrong people to do the things.
In my page there are a few charity webs that I'll also link, and artists that will do commissions and donate it to Valencia, if you are from Spain and prefer to donate food and other things instead of money, like me, in all big shopping centers there are places to do so, and if you are a college student at least in madrid they are also taking donations to send to Valencia.
Thanks so much for reading all this.

This is one of the most complete post about everything I could find.
god i cant stop thinking about the DANA.
about a year ago, the local government cut the funding towards the emergency programs because they "were useless"
the climate agency had been warning about what was about to happen for days but they waited until 8pm to issue an emergency warning so people would work through the day. by that time, several communities had already been completely flooded.
the police advised people to get their cars out of the garage because they would probably flood. the streets flooded with hundreds of cars floating around hitting all shorts of infrastructure and people
a DANA or gota fría is a meteorological event that happens when part of a cold current is isolated inside a warm one causing very intense rain. how intense? 630 l/m² in 24 hours. climate change will only make this worse
(satellite images of valencia before and after the DANA)
so far, there are more than 200 confirmed deaths
this is such a nightmare. we couldn't have prevented the rain, but this didn't have to be such a tragedy. la generalitat has failed the valencian people.
NOMÉS EL POBLE SALVA EL POBLE
(please reblog to spread awareness. the people of valencia need help)
Finished another piece last night. For the portraits I was actually tracing over the base silhouettes, but with this one I drew it without tracing. It's so weird that it's easier to draw a hand - the scourge of all artists - than it is to draw a face, the thing I spend the most time drawing. 🤷🏻♀️ I still take the colours directly from the photo though.
Anyways here's the finished piece, with the reference below it.

So it's been a few weeks, I had multiple auditions, fall break, and some rest, but this weekend, it was time to actually do stuff again. I worked on some choreography and a warm up to teach tomorrow, and I started the reading assignment for my ballet class. I also voted! Well, I haven't sent the ballot yet, as I have to do mail in ballot, but once I find where on campus I can send mail, that will be done. I'm also finally registered for my classes next semester, and even though I had to change my minor, I'm excited for them.
