"Jegulus is misogynistic because Lily is sidelined in the story as a result of the ship."
I dont think that's misogyny because if it's a JEGULUS story, and she isn't the main character, why would her story be prioritised. Once again, if you want to see more Lily content or any female character, why dont you start by making some yourself. Personally, if I want a specific fanfic but I can't find one like it, I WRITE IT MYSELF. Complaining without doing anything to make a change is just annoying and unhelpful.
"Regulus didn't really have a redemption arc, he did it for selfish reasons/his own pride."
Whatever the reason behind his decision, Regulus sacrificed himself to destroy Voldemort. That is the opposite of selfish. Realistically, what did he gain? Nothing, because he died, so how could it be selfish. We don't know why he did it, but in the end it doesn't really matter because the end result was the same: he sacrificed himself to take down Voldemort.

Assigning taylor swift albums to marauders characters. This is purely my opinion so don't come at me pls.
Regulus - Folklore and Reputation
James - Folklore and Lover
(I could write essays defending these choices for Jegulus, don't test me)
Remus - Folklore and Evermore (hes one angsty boy)
Sirius - Reputation and Speak now (you cannot tell me he wouldnt interrupt a wedding dramatically for Remus)
Peter - 1989 and debut
Lily - Red and Evermore
Mary - Debut and Midnights
Marlene - Midnights and Reputation
Dorcas - Midnights and 1989
Pandora - Debut and Fearless (she would be an og swiftie fr)
Evan - Red and 1989 (can i explain this? no, but im sticking with it anyway)
Barty - reputation, midnights and a splash of Folklore (its giving chaos)
"Saying Regulus is a more interesting character than Lily is misogyny"
First of all, I agree that there is a disproportion of content for male and female characters and that's a problem. However, preferring Regulus' character over Lily's and finding it more interesting isn't misogyny, but Personal opinion. Sure, some people might have this opinion because of misogyny but the majority don't.
So guess who finally finished their 85k canon-adjacent Jegulus fanfic?
It's a trick question, the answer is me obviously.
Anyway I uploaded the final chapter today and after more than a year of writing, it's done.
Thank you to everyone's support with this, I'm so grateful.
The anti jeguls and anti regulus people calling everyone fascists are starting to get on my nerves. Especially because they're flooding the jegulus tag while complaining about us flooding the other tags. Hypocrisy at its finest.
What annoys me the most about this fandom is that people are always arguing about the most ridiculous things.
Why is it that we as a fandom seem to feel the need to attack each other for what we like and what we dislike.
Why does one character or ship have to be better than others?
If you don't ship something just keep scrolling. It takes more effort to open the comment section and leave a hate comment than to just find content that you do like. it's not that hard.
I think some people forget that we don't all have to agree. It's okay to ship a rare pairing that other people might find odd and it's okay to make a seemingly 'bad' character more three dimensional.
As long as its not harmful content that someone is making or consuming, why should it matter to you.
At the end of the day, it's all made up so who gives a damn.
I can like Regulus as a character without hating on lily because guess what, there is no reason to be constantly pitting them against each other. They are FICTIONAL.
Jegulus is not better than Jily or the other way around, they're just different.
I love Lily and the other female characters but it is possible for someone to dislike one of them and not for misogynistic reasons. Not everything is an attack on women.
Sometimes I like reading fics where certain characters I like are villanised because it seems funny, including Lily. That's not misogynistic. Especially not if I read ones where James or barty or sirius are the bad guy sometimes.
It's okay to like snape. I don't and you might not but that doesn't give you a right to attack the people who do.
What Im saying is, leave people alone and stop attacking them for having different opinions. If you're going to criticise a ship or character at least have the decency to do it in a place where the people who like said character or ship don't have to see it.
It really isn't that hard.
This fandom is supposed to be a free space to enjoy content you enjoy but sometimes doesn't feel like it because of the people who behave like their opinion should be fact and those who disagree can be harassed and bullied until they leave.
Just try to remember that just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.
"Regulus wasn't abused. He was a golden child and Sirius was the scapegoat. His parents loved him "
Obviously, there isn't any evidence of physical abuse against either Sirius or Regulus in the books. However, something caused Sirius to run away and it surely wasn't that his parents didn't give him pocket money. The psychological or emotional abuse must have been bad enough that Sirus decided to run. Anyone who has abt experience with toxic or abusive parents will know that every child reacts to it differently but at the end of the day, regardless of whether you follow the rules or you act out, their toxic or abusive behaviour is going to affect you. Parents dont become abusive because you break rules. Suggesting that Regulus with his "golden child status " was exempt from the abuse is just ridiculous and quite frankly harmful to people who find themselves in such homes.
