the pretend plot of bg3: you've gotta get these tadpoles out and stop a giant floating brain with delusions of grandeur
the real plot of bg3: in order to date us (the party) you must defeat our seven evil exes: a half-demon warlock patron, the literal goddess of magic, a vampiric lord, an insane cult leader , an archdemon, the goddess of darkness, and finally, the Trauma

It’s funny how science fiction universes so often treat humans as a boring, default everyman species or even the weakest and dumbest.
I want to see a sci fi universe where we’re actually considered one of the more hideous and terrifying species.
How do we know our saliva and skin oils wouldn’t be ultra-corrosive to most other sapient races? What if we actually have the strongest vocal chords and can paralyze or kill the inhabitants of other worlds just by screaming at them? What if most sentient life in the universe turns out to be vegetable-like and lives in fear of us rare “animal” races who can move so quickly and chew shit up with our teeth?
Like that old story “they’re made of meat,” only we’re scarier.
“I’m baby.” Most salamanders start their lives in water and grow up to live on land. Not the axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)! This unique critter is a neotenic amphibian, meaning it retains most of its juvenile features into adulthood—including frilly gills and dorsal fins. What’s more? The axolotl lives permanently in water, breathing primarily through its gills rather than its rudimentary lungs. Found only in Lake Xochimilco in the Valley of Mexico, this rare amphibian is threatened in the wild by pollution, overfishing, and other human activities.
