SHORT LORE BELOW:

anyways um, james and curly were just outside the cockpit, just chatting; and then the ship hit this massive asteroid that zoomed by without warning, which caused the crash. james ran inside the cockpit to stablize the ship, to little avail, and curly had to drag him out of the burning room before anything worse happened. this is kinda where james gets the burn scar on his ear from, and a small cut on his cheek. curly meanwhile has burn scars all up his arms, from reaching into the fire for james.

james used to be pretty withdrawn and shy, though after the crash and a little consoling, he opens up to the crew as they repair the ship and each other. james finally gets to ask anya about mentoring him, since he's really impressed with her medical knowledge, and wants to know more. he also talks with daisuke a lot, though he's a little wary of swansea due to his intimidating nature. he and curly are childhood friends, and he's the person james hangs around with the most; next to anya once she starts mentoring him.

eventually daisuke and swansea get the ship fixed, and they all complete their journey and return home, yay!

also james still panics when things go wrong, even post-crash, his anxiety never ceases :')

Also I think Finn being as fast as he is, and carrying the angry Shrimpo fella when he's being too slow is so funny-
