My headcanon about The Lovers That Never Were is that Paul pulls a No Words situation. Like in No Words -where he inserts a deeply personal thing we later (way after the fact) find that it was something John used to say to him- Paul throws in TLTNW phrases that are not his but Johns. Like, for instance, "if we can't be lovers we'll never be friends", that sounds sooo much like something 67/68 (specially 68) John would say. That kind of black/white yes/no relationship breaker.
But at the same time, the protagonist of TLTNW complains that the other person is running away from him and does not answer anymore, as if that person had thrown the stone and then hidden his hand, as if he did not want to take charge of the situation that he himself started. And that also feels like John hiding behind other people or not going to face to face meetings.
Anyway, TLTNW, nice vocals.
Every time I watch Get Back I notice something new, this time it was whatever the fuck John's doing here
