oooh, I have a prompt: Bones somehow learns that Jim was on Tarsus
It’s Pike who tells him.
Leonard has known Jim for over two years now and they’ve been inseparable ever since. He is a man of science, a doctor, he knows that nothing is promised in life. He has lost so much throughout his years - his father, his marriage, his daughter - but he has one certainty left.
It’s that Jim Kirk will be in his life one way or another.
Others must see it too, because one day Bones is called to Pike’s office, and Pike tells him.
“I know how important you are to Jim,” he tells him.
“I also know how important Jim is to you,” he tells him.
“That’s why I’ve decided to tell you something that Jim won’t tell you.”
And Pike tells him, “I’m only telling you so that you now, so that you understand him more.”
And Pike tells him, “You must never tell him you know.”
“What are you saying?” Bones asks, lips pressed together, heart beating fast against his rib cage.
“Jim was on Tarsus IV. Jim is a Tarsus Nine.”
Bones feels the world shattering around him, and yet when he opens his eyes again, breathless and cold, nothing has changed in the world apart from his perception of it.
That night, he doesn’t come back to his room.
He walks and walks, thinking so many thoughts at the same time that he can’t come up with anything, and his mind is like a storm and he’s in the eye of it, and everything around him is moving but he’s not really there.
Jim was on Tarsus IV. Jim is a Tarsus Nine.
It’s unfair, he wants to scream, it’s so wrong. Not Jim, not bright strong beautiful Jim.
And yet it makes sense, a terrible maddening sense. Jim’s fixation on food, the way he always makes sure everyone else is eating before he starts on his own plate, or how he has secret stashes of food, just in case, he says.
It explains the nightmares too, and the sleepless nights, and the heaviness in his eyes he gets sometimes, or how old he appears at times, drained and overcome.
That explains also Jim’s strength. Jim’s courage and unwavering sense of justice. His kindness, his softness also, hidden away under a carefree mask.
“I’m only telling you so that you know, so that you understand him more,” Pike told Bones and Bones understands Jim more than ever.
He also loves and respects him more than ever.
Bones comes back to their room as the sun rises.
“Where were you, man? I was worried sick. Oh, shit, are you okay? Fuck, what happened?”
Bones says nothing. He takes a step towards his friend - amazing and heroic - and puts his arms around him, and holds him tight.
“Bones?”
“I just need you to be here. Please.”
He can feel Jim nod, “Okay. I can do that.”
They won’t mention this again, but now Bones knows, and he understands.
Not been very active lately 'cause IRL work is kicking my ass ;-; but this AWESOME K/S fic I've been following for YEARS (not even joking) has been updated sooo.... I felt like sketching something!
Check the story out, btw: The Lifecycle of Stars by Azheria on AO3
Just heed the tags, if it's not your jam just move along and leave the author alone, m'kay?
I don’t have a specific Anxious Jim head canon (yet), but I was wondering if you could explain to me this common fanon idea about Jim’s anxiety with food? What is it based on? I’m not trying to argue, I’m just curious!!
For sure.
So we have confirmation that in The Original Series, Jim was on Tarsus IV. Tarsus IV was a colony settlement that was hit by a severe famine after their crops were blighted in 2246. The governor of the colony, Kodos, panicked and made the decision to save half the colony (around 4,000) by exterminating the other half in favor of survival for the “better” of the colonists, based purely on eugenics.
Staging a political coup and taking full control of the settlement, he made two lists: one list of who would be allowed to live, and another of those who would be sentenced to die. Gathering up the latter half, he delivered an address to the colonists:
“The revolution is successful. But survival depends on drastic measures. Your continued existence represents a threat to the well-being of society. Your lives mean slow death to the more valued members of the colony. Therefore, I have no alternative but to sentence you to death. Your execution is so ordered, signed Kodos, Governor of Tarsus IV.”
This event came to be known as “The Sacrifice”, and just over 4,000 people were put to death in one fell swoop.
Supplies and aid came sooner than anticipated. The Sacrifice was not necessary, but corrupt politics and eugenics had already taken their toll. Jim Kirk– as well as Kevin Riley– were survivors of the massacre. They are among 9 survivors that can positively identify Kodos the Executioner on sight.
We do not know which list Jim was one, but fanon suggests that Jim– a young teen at the time of the massacre– rounded up those he could find and did his best to take care of them. He called them “his kids”, and he put himself at risk to provide them with what little food and shelter he could.
The Alternate Original Series has made brief, fleeting mention of Tarsus in Into Darkness, and fanon has decided that as there are constants in every timeline, Jim was most likely on Tarsus then, as well.
As such, having been in a highly stressful and traumatizing situation for an undetermined amount of time, fighting for survival and denied adequate food and nutrition, it stands to reason that Jim has some food issues.
Let me know if you have any other questions! I’ll do my best to answer!

A lovely AOS fic today 😊 In the midst of Vulcan's destruction, Jim Kirk saves the life of a Human woman he only later learns the name of: Amanda Grayson. It isn’t long before Spock finds gratitude transforming into a crippling and terribly inconvenient attraction. 😂
Another popular vote from the fanfiction poll I had.
Summary: When Jim Kirk has to go meet with an alien civilization at the insistence of Starfleet Command, he begrudgingly is forced to leave a recovering Spock behind in sickbay. However, the aliens don't seem very interested in discussing things without his "other half," insisting that there is no reason to proceed without Kirk being "fully there."
Whatever the fuck that means.

One of the Best Tarsus IV fics out there

Your Trouble Is In You by druxy_kexy
Spock relies on his memories of Jim to cope with being stranded in an alternate universe. But after he is poisoned by an unknown substance, his ability to remember his past begins to fade. The crew of the Enterprise joins him in his search to find a cure before all of his memories are gone
Warnings: brief suicidal thoughts
THIS. It is one of the Spock Prime Big Bang fics, has wonderfully original plot and is so well written. I had the honour of doing art for this in the big bang.
Starlight by Brian J Christopher (ikudou)
Spock always considered trying to locate the Nexus illogical, and futile. He didn’t come looking for it; one universe over, it found him. And it was hungry.

What if Picard managed to revive Jim Kirk before Spock set out to save Romulus?
I was so sure I had recced this already, but realized I had put link for different story with this summary. The shame…

If you like your Spirk fics hot, then watch out because this one is practically on fire! 🔥🥵🔥
Just returned from a difficult space mission and about to begin teaching at Starfleet Academy, Spock chooses a logical way to relieve stress: a sexual encounter with someone he'll never meet again. But when Spock discovers his partner of one night is Jim Kirk, a promising new cadet at Starfleet, he's torn between his rational decision to avoid intimate relationships and his increasing fascination with Jim. As Spock's normally orderly life starts to spin out of control, will his obsession with Jim prove his salvation or his undoing?
Happy New Year ☺️🥳 In celebration of the day, I present to you a picture inspired by a fun AOS AU fic called ‘Next Best Destiny’ by @rabidchild67 in which a lovably nerdy science officer called Jim Kirk gets assigned to the Enterprise to serve under Captain Spock.
Wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2024 🖖

Hello! Has anyone written a fic inspired by your kid!Jon time travel AU? (if you allow that kind of stuff? Or are you planning on writing for it?). I'm obsessed with the AU, it's so lovely and unique! Love the idea, love the art, everything, perfection *chef kiss*. If such a fic exists, could you maybe tell us where to find it/drop a link? Thank you for your art, it always brings a smile to my face. Have a great day!
I'm gonna be honest,, I just read fics of the kid!Jon time traveller theme and I got a bit shook when they were all unfinished and I was craving for more. I just started doodling my own version to cope, one with a much more light-hearted and funny tone
And hoping that maybe my drawings might inspire tma fic writers to write more "jon time travels to his 8 year old self" fics,, i love the theme so much i dont mind reading it again and again
ALL IN ALL THIS IS JUST ME HOPING PEOPLE CAN GET INSPIRED BY MY DOODLES SO I CAN CONSUME MORE KID!JON HEALING FICS BAHAHHA IM SHAMELESS I KNOW
(i cant write my own because my thoughts are all over the place ksdjLKSKJDL i prefer drawing short snippets through comics)
ANYWAY, here are the fics that got me hooked:
1.) Too much time by Hix (180k+ words) - angtsy as fuck,,, super slow burn when it comes to jon’s relationships with others,, my fave one so far. Jon has his memories intact but elias doesnt 2.) Time is Hard by Serazimei (130k+ words) - a bit more light hearted than the first fic,, friendships are formed faster and there are a lot of sweet moments. Elias is forced to remember what he did to jon but has no plans to end the world after
3.) The Timeline of Theseus by Applea (90k+ words) - Jon doesn’t remember anything at all but is still powerful. Elias keeps him around because of his abilities 4.) A break in the clouds by Ash_ Rabbit (107k+ words) - here the real Elias keeps his body and Jonah is in James Wright. His interactions with Jon are so adorable hngg
