bearer of the curse <- knows basic facts about jewish history; goes on the internet daily
When people ask me why I’m converting to Judaism, a year into the entire process of it all, I just mumble “I dunno, just feels like I’ve always been here, been home.”
Then I pause and consider for a minute-
“But mostly because of the challah.”
Taylor Swift and that football player broke up??? She's been seen with a new guy too??? Some racer???
Palestinian and Israeli singers raise their voices together in a moving rendition of “Home” by Phillip Phillips. Despite the violence surrounding them, they sing out for peace, justice, inclusion, and equality.
Learn more about the Jerusalem Youth Chorus here
We are the Jerusalem Youth Chorus: Palestinians and Israelis raising our voices to push back against the violence surrounding us—to reject war, occupation, and terror, and instead sing out for peace, justice, inclusion, and equality. We don’t all share the same opinions—and have hard conversations about them every week—but we do share the same future, no matter what the politicians say. In JYC we have a rare chance to truly hear each other, and that’s what makes the chorus a home for all of us. Every kid deserves to grow up with that same safety and dignity. We know we don’t have the power to single-handedly stop war, but we also know that the reason war continues is because people think there is no alternative. We are the alternative.
"you should be at the club" incorrect "you should be at pirate weekend at the renn fair" well this we cannot refute.
you know how sometimes you go through the roughest moment in your whole entire life and then you look up and it's like. oh. the moon is still there
Idk I just feel like the liberal / leftist stance of “don’t be a dick about people’s disabilities” should extend universally. Like it would be cool if we could extend that to people with lifelong speech impediments. We could even extend it to politicians who have lifelong speech impediments. Or, and hear me out, because this is crazy. We could try not being dicks about the lifelong speech impediment that the President of the United States of America has. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask does it
I wasn’t going to post anything else today with all that has happened in Israel but evil will not win.
While my heart and prayers are with all the victims and my people, here is a simple lesson on Jewish traditions during Rosh Hashanah.
Traditional Rosh Hashanah foods are symbolic, reflecting hope, renewal, and blessings for the new year. Key examples:
Apples in honey – Wishing for a sweet new year.
Round challah – Symbolizes life’s cycle and continuity, often sweetened with raisins.
Pomegranates – Represent abundance and the 613 commandments
Fish head – Symbolizes the hope to lead and make progress.
These foods are part of the Rosh Hashanah seder, accompanied by prayers and blessings for a fruitful and positive year.
people think they shouldn't vote as a protest or whatever because they've been raised on boycotts. which do sometimes work.
boycotts deprive the target of money.
not voting does not deprive the government of money.
it does, however, deprive you of power.
it's not like a boycott.
