I Really Think People Have Forgotten Just How Bad Things Were Under The Trump Administration. Literally

I really think people have forgotten just how bad things were under the Trump Administration. Literally every day there was news about some service being cut or someone terrible appointed somewhere they shouldn't be or what have you. He constantly flirted with WW3 and military dictatorship. It was such a blur of badness that there aren't big standouts for people to point to to make him "the XYZ president." it was everything. all the time. Why do we not remember this.

Please reblog if you feel the same. Many people seem to think snape awarded points biasedly all the time when that is NOT the case at all.

Going to rewatch all the HP movies in honor of Robbie Coltrane.

As an adult I definitely view many things differently than I did as a kid. Especially since I read the books which I'm also rereading.

In the first film, I hate this scene. Especially as someone who loves kids and has been a teacher. People aways say its fine because Snape favored his house (someone has to since Slytherin is so hated) and they think Slytherin is always cheating, but at least in the books, if you look at the actual facts, Snape doesn't award a single house point in the series EVEN for Slytherin and takes a total of about 270 in ALL of the 6 school years that we see. 12 in PS/SS. In PS/SS, McGonagall took 150 points from her own house and 20 from Slytherin. If anything the other teachers take more points than Snape throughout the series. Also, according to one of JK Rowlings interviews Snape also took the most points away from his own house. And the mostly minor point deductions he did to Gryffindor were hardly game changing, for every Gryffindor point he deducted for whatever reason was most probably regained that same day by another student. And we never really see the Professors awarding Slytherin many points like they do to Gryffindor. And since Snape doesn't award points even to Slytherin, we can assume they are fairly earning the ones they won since its other unbiased professors who are awarding them points. They were winning the House Cup for many years straight for a reason and only began losing after Harry entered the fold in which he continuously gets extra points and unfairly so.

But what I hate the most about this scene is not only did Dumbledore let Slytherins believe they had won, but he let them celebrate their apparent victory, complete with decorations that he put up. He sat there knowing he was going to wait until literally the last moment to pull the rug out from under them. Dumbledore pretty much just dropped massive loads of points on Gryffindor when it was impossible for anyone to gain anymore.

Slytherin rightfully won. It was unfair for Dumbledore to award points for a school competition knowing that the points he was awarding had nothing to do with the school or the rest of the students. He knew that no other students had the opportunity that Harry and his friends had. He knew that only Harry really could have gone up against Voldemort as he's the child of prophecy. Awarding them points was straight up cheating. And unfair to the rest of the children. Harry may have helped save the Wizarding world, but he broke school rules to do it (which is fine) but under normal circumstances a different student would have had points deducted for breaking those same rules and from a school competition standpoint he shouldn't be awarded for something that has nothing to do with the school and it's competition. He can be rewarded in a different way that doesn't involve house points and the end of year house competition. Slytherin shouldn't have lost. Dumbledore calculated the exact points needed for them to win on purpose.

Keep Your Messaging Simple:

Keep your messaging simple:

“Trump fired everyone in charge of airplane safety, and a week later planes started crashing into each other.”

That’s it. That’s the messaging. Don’t get bogged down disputing Trump’s false claims. Just blame him, in short and repeatable sentences.

The reason why Luo Binghe (specifically Bingmei) is not treated on the same level as Shen Jiu by story is because he took on the difficulty of making his loved one understand him, this is between xin mo manipulating his trauma and obsession. He inherently, did not want to treat Shen Qingqiu cruelly at any time and was terrified of that outcome. Shen Jiu at no point cared if he treated Yue Qingyuan cruelly because he was convinced of his own narrative (in a similar vein to Shen Yuan thinking that Bingmei is still the same as Bingge).

And the what if doesn't work for Shen Jiu finding out about Yue Qingyuan's hardships because he is very jealous of others of his same circumstances being able to persevere and be talented. He did not want to be seen as an equal but wanted the entitlement of prestige and the cruelty that can be used from it, just as Bingge achieved during PIDW. It did not matter how much they were beloved, because they wanted entitlement while ridiculing love. Something that Shen Jiu instilled into his Luo Binghe. Because Shen Qingqiu changed that trajectory for Bingmei he was still able to believe in small kindnesses by one person not ridiculing that concept.

Shen Jiu did not care if he was actually loved. He used being unloved as his weapon to be worse because doing the opposite was much more difficult.

To be fair to Wrath, he had refused to ascend the throne until the end of Dark Lover, so he wasn't in position to change it before then. Lover Awakened, when he actually outlawed it, wasn't that long after Dark Lover (from what I can tell of the inconsistent timeline).

But hell, you think you'd have a bucket list of Things I'd Change If I Could after being a Brother for that long in such a shitty society and "stopping the slave system that victimized my brother" would be pretty close to the top...

The only way I will be ever satisfied with the brotherhood and Zsadist relationship is when all of them (specially Wrath) offers a rythe for allowing blood slaving to happen after fighting by his side for almost 144 years and still judge his PTSD

it will forever bug me that tony stark sat on his ass for five years while the universe was crumbling and struggling to rebalance their communities after the blip, but yet when he finally helped bring back the billions of people that died, he was the one to get murals. he was the one to have a proper funeral. he was the one who left a “legacy”.

not natasha, who was always there for the people and being the one to run the avengers.

not vision, who was a primary factor into trying to stop the blip from happening in the first place by sacrificing himself.

not any other hero who was murdered or sacrificed themselves during the battle of wakanda or the final battle between the avengers and thanos.

no one else got a funeral except a billionaire who spent the first thirty years of his life realizing that building war weapons was wrong, and spending the next ten years creating more problems for the real heroes.

The current discussion about "a big advantage for the yeerks is that no one knows there's an alien invasion" reminds me of your ficlet that became the first chapter of All Assorted Animorphs AUs; Elfangor meets the team as adults, and they *do* go public about the invasion. It ends poorly. Sorry kids, no clean option here.

The yeerks' need for secrecy and the Animorphs' need for secrecy are not the same, in a really interesting way.

The yeerks need to keep humans as a whole from knowing that mind-controlling alien invaders exist. This means suppressing all knowledge of extraterrestrial everything, even when it means covering up for their enemies.

The Animorphs need to avoid controllers knowing who they are, and don't have a reliable way to know which humans are controllers. This means they have to protect their names and faces at all costs, but would prefer it if humanity did know the yeerks exist.

Like, look at #22 where the controller-cops indirectly protect Jake by inventing reasons a tiger could be unconscious on the floor of a California mall. Or the times the kids win victories over controllers by getting them to act alien in front of civilians (e.g. #12, #35). The yeerks are the ones who have to keep the entire war secret.

By contrast, the kids just have to keep themselves secret. Look at the number of times they straight-up admit they're morphers and not real animals. Sometimes it's around people too remote to be controllers, like Derek (#25) and Yami (#44). Sometimes it's a civilian who just reacted with shock instead of anger to the sight of morphing (e.g. the home cook in #5, the busboy in #35). Sometimes it's even a known controller, just as long as they don't give their names (e.g. the opening of #18, Visser One in #30). They don't even go out of their way to actively maintain the fiction they're andalites — they don't dispel that belief if they can help it, because it's useful, but they're not going to spend a ton of time and energy on it. Just as long as no controllers know that Jake Berenson of 123 Street Road, Townsville, CA, can morph, it doesn't matter what else leaks.
