The Waynes totally think he's a clone of either Bruce or Damian. The physical appearence right down to the "You kill me? No I kill you!" behavior Damian and Bruce exhibited when they were his age.
P.s I'm thinking Danny is fourteen here while Damian is sixteen and getting some intense deja vu.
Danny, at the tail end of a very stressful week involving Vlad and the GIW and his parents, gets dragged along to Gotham to a gala at Wayne Manor by Sam. During said gala, he gets pestered by Sam's parents, the rich snooty people and the Waynes find him very suspicious for some reason. Then some group of goons attacks the gala and there goes his last nerve as he just lets out a war cry and tackles the nearest gun toting goon before bodily tossing them at the next closest goon. No ghost blasts, just fists, feet and teeth.
Later, when he is being corralled to be examined by paramedics he is asked what set him off and he replies "I could sense their eagerness to kill and decided to see if I could take a few with me."
Really, it was just the stress.
It gets even funnier if this somehow gets Danny a date with Bruce and Damian has to live with the knowledge that he unintentionally aquired a new love interest for his father.
Except that Grayson calls him, and won't stop talking, and when Damian hangs up Grayson just calls him again. And again. And again.
Damian takes his eyes off the road.
There's a loud thump, a crunching sound, something hits the windshield, and the car rocks.
Damian slams on the brakes.
He gets out of the car...and it appears that he's hit a man around father's age.
The car is very, very damaged. The man is very, very unconscious.
And as Damian hears a motorcycle pull up, an engine that he knows very well as he's heard Grayson drive it a million times, he knows that he is very, very much in a lot of trouble.
Or; Danny gets hit by Bruce Wayne's youngest son while going for a walk before going to work. His work at Wayne Enterprises. Yeah, he just got hit by his boss's son.
Tim accidently referring to the Joker as Dad but those who know about Joker Jr arenāt present and so everyone is left with the ārealisationā that Tim is the son of the biggest nightmare to their family.
Itās probably Jason and Steph, her there to bother Tim but Jason went to the manor for food and the two naturally started arguing. Maybe Jason tells Tim to stop costing on his case and prove a point be made against blonde, but Tim just offhandedly goes, āLater, I think my dad broke out of Arkham again but the guards arenāt doing anything. Maybe theyāre in on itā¦ā
The two present naturally look at each other with confusion and for the first time stop bickering to peak over his shoulder and see what his case is because, holy shit Tim had a villain for a dad and didnāt tell us? Only to see numerous photos of the Joker in his cell and many reports over the last week of how heās been behaving and Jasonā¦
Steph pushes the man out of the room when she sees his face go from frozen fear to anger, thinking itās towards Tim and his secrecy and, while she totally gets that, now isnāt the time.
Though when they get into the Jason starts a rant about how Bruce and Dick should have told him that the monster had a child, even if that child wasnāt Tim! Jason protects kids! Did they think heād hurt him just because of who his father is?
No!
If anything, heād become the kids full time body guard to stop that mad man from making Tim into another version of himself!
The two naturally go to tell the others, pulling Damian, Cass and Duke into a mostly unused room and telling them what they discovered, all while Tim stays in the library working on his case.
Cass is beyond worried but also confused because he doesnāt seem to have any physical characteristics of the Joker or Harley, but maybe the mother is different? Perhaps itās still Janet and either she had a fling with the Joker or something far worse, which makes the young girl enraged on the womanās behalf.
Damian makes a comment about him killing Tim, not in a serious manner but more as an option, but Duke shuts it down, saying that having a villain for a parent doesnāt mean anything about who you will be. He points out those in the family of that nature and other heroes like Superboy.
When asked why they didnāt get Dick or Babs involved, Jason says they defiantly know and lied about it.
Itās only after another three hours of working that Tim catches himself referring to the Joker as dad and shuts his laptop, making his way to Bruceās room to hide under the older manās bed like he usually does when that happens, only to overhear what his siblings are saying.
Tim presses his ear against the door to hear better.
āIf that maniac had a kid, surely heād have told everyone he had an heir or something.ā Thatās Stephās voice, filled with worry that only he and Cass could detect as she hides it under a whiney tone.
Jason is next to respond, āmaybe he doesnāt know? I mean, did Tim ever even interacted with him before he became Robin?ā
It doesnāt take much more than that for Tim to realise that he must have been talking aloud again or absently answered someone earlier and misspoke in front of them.
Panic fills him as he avoids telling Bruce when he gets bad, even if itās just a small thing, because the older man will start of being a concerned parent then go into Batman mode and only just stop himself from putting Tim in the confinement cell. Sure Tim came up with the idea of the cell so he wouldnāt hurt anyone if his conditioning got too bad, but heās learnt the signs. Heās not a mindless drone, he still knows who he is and doesnāt hear someone talking to him or anything like that.
He just⦠sometimes forgets the Joker hurt him.
Itās not Timās fault that memories of watching TV with him and Harley, tucked between them with a big bowl of ice cream felt better than most memories of his real parents.
But he knows itās wrong, always comes back to calling the Joker his enemy.
Bruce just doesnāt get that.
Tim hears them talk a bit more, theories about who his mother might be, if Tim is safe at the manor, if Joker knows he has a sonā¦
Opening the door, Tim stands there and stares at them as all eyes snap to him in alarm.
He doesnāt let anybody speak, cutting them all off quickly, āHeās not my dad. Go the cave and search for file number 26557933301-JJ and put in the code AGELAST, all caps.ā
With that he turns and leaves, walking at first before running to Bruceās room to hide.
He goes to family dinner and pretends not to notice the quietness or how Jason is still there, eating his food quietly and waiting for the ball to drop.
Naturally, Damian is the one to say what he wants first, āSo why is okay that Tim shot the joker but I got in trouble for stabbing Bane?ā
Everyone groans.
The Ring of Rage, oddly semi-sapient in the way that all ghostly objects tend to be, keeps trying to break into the sarcophagus to get onto Pariah Dark's finger.
Normally, fine. Go sit on the finger of someone locked in Foreversleep, not like it'll change much. But if that ring manages to crack open Pariah Darks comfy forever-box, the Pariah Dark wakes up.
Again.
So Danny, as the current Ghostly Heir-Apparent, having earned his place as Pariah Dark's son by right of combat (ew), is tasked with wearing the Ring of Rage in the human world, so as to forcibly keep it away from Pariah Dark.
So Danny wears it, even though it clashes with a lot of his everyday clothes. Because, like, it does tend to look really evil and give off some bad vibes.
Danny isn't a huge fan of it, honestly. It feels mean to say he hates it, but it keeps trying to convince him to get angry over the dumbest shit.
Danny, as the Ghostly Heir-Apparent, is the only person or ghost who can wear it and not fall to temptation. The only person or ghost who's own personal power outweighs that of the Ring of Rage. So that's fun.
It's like a toddler following him around shouting intrusive thoughts, and Danny just has to keep ignoring it.
Honestly, the only good thing he can say about the ring is that it does the equivalent of a magical girl transformation; if he lets it release some of it's power, and uses it, he gets a red and black jumpsuit.
It's...alright. He guesses.
He stick to doing heroing in Phantom form, though. The red and black, on top of not really being his colors, feel like he's trying to step on the Red Huntress' toes.
So he wears it, but it never sees any use.
Until one day, as Danny is being dragged along to a Ghost Hunter Convention in New York City, a Green Lantern is thrown into the building next to him.
It's a Supervillain, and they're duking it out with said Green Lantern and really, really not caring about collateral.
Danny's parents are right there. They aren't about to let him out of their sights. New York City is huge and covered in CCTV, there's no way he can just...run away and disappear long enough to transform into Phantom. Not without some conspiracy theorist getting ahold of the CCTV footage leading up to him vanishing and Phantom showing up.
What are the chances of that like, actually happening?
Danny doesn't really know, but New York City has always been an exception for weird shit, so he feels like the possibility is distinctly higher than average.
He isn't gonna risk it.
Luckily, he can just do an Anime Magical Girl transformation into the Ring of Rage's fashion choice and use said ring to fight instead of his powers.
Damn.
Maybe it is actually useful for something. Huh.
He lets the Ring of Rage's power wash over him, the red and black jumpsuit replacing his clothes, and a red aura encompassing him as his feet leave the ground.
Granted, he isn't using the ring to fly, but his parents don't need to know that.
"Mom, dad, help the people to shelter; just like in the ghost attacks," Danny says, knowing that if anyone is qualified to herd terrified people to safety, it's literally anyone from Amity Park.
Or Gotham.
But fuck Gotham, and it's creepy BDSM furry brigade of vigilantes.
Dad looks up at him, teary eyed.
"Our little boy is a hero!" Mom cries, throwing up her hands triumphantly before grabbing his dad's arm and dragging him away.
"Don't get hurt now, Danno! Otherwise we'll have to step in!" His dad laughs, and Danny feels chills.
That...that would cause more damage than the Supervillain.
He can't let that happen.
Danny flies up and joins the fray, hyperaware of dodging the blasts and punches meant for him, and missing how the Green Lanterns around him hesitate when they notice he's there.
After two hours (he could have done this so much faster as Phantom, this is so tedious) the fight is over, and the villain of the week is in glowing green shackles.
Then the Green Lanterns, haggard and bleeding, turn on him.
"Surrender as compliantly as you've been so far, and we won't have any issues," one of them says, leveling their ring at Danny.
Danny, bewildered, slowly raises his hands in the air.
"What, did I...did I break a treaty with aliens or something? Is that uh...very professional looking and distinguished alien I just punched actually an ambassador?" Danny froze. "Can we please never, ever tell my parents if they are?"
"...Do you not feel, uh. I don't know. A very big compulsion to kill everyone and everything?" another Green Lantern asks, inching a little closer. "Or to laugh evilly, or something?"
"No?"
"Where did you get that ring, kid?"
Danny blinks.
"Oh, you're upset cuz of this thing? Yeah, alright, I'll just...take it off then," Danny shrugs, and as every single Green Lantern shouts at him not to do it, he slips it off of his finger, the red and black jumpsuit disappearing.
The Green Lanterns wince, pulling back like they're...waiting.
But nothing happens.
"Yeah, I'm just babysitting it so it doesn't wake up it's master. It's not mine."
Or; Danny, due to his Ghost powers/strength and being the Ghostly Heir Apparent, can not only resist the Red Lantern Ring he's inherited from Pariah Dark, but can take it off and not die. This causes concern amongst the Lantern Community. Especially when they learn that the Red Lantern Ring in question is semi-sapient.

Danny accidentally finds himself in the middle of a fight between Lobo and Superman and is not pleased at all. He had assignments due and these two idiots decided that a royal rumble was just the thing he needed at 4 a.m.
So he may have said a few unsavory words towards them which resulted in them halting completely and listening to him in shock.
Now they both think a child from their species survived and has been hiding here on earth because Danny was unaware he gained omnilingualism.
may you be safe among the stars my dearest son
