I never really looked at mori and chuuya relationship, its always been a professional or slightly resentful one(post stormbringer).
While Mori’s relationship with Dazai reads as kind of parental, Mori’s relationship with Chuuya really doesn’t. They seem to have a strictly professional relationship, and I think that’s why they work much better as boss and subordinate than Mori and Dazai.
Chuuya is much more respectful towards Mori because he DOES respect Mori. But, going off their interactions in Stormbringer, I don’t think he particularly likes him on a personal level, and that works for them. Chuuya knows Mori is manipulating him to get him to cooperate, but he trusts his ability to protect the pm and the city and Mori trusts his ability to carry out these plans, and really their relationship doesn’t need to be anything more than that.
But Dazai and Mori’s relationship is much more personal. There’s a level of emotional attachment there that isn’t entirely related to the port mafia. Mori seems to feel some sort of genuine connection there, he sees himself in Dazai and wants to trust and confide in him. And he was the only person in Dazai’s life for a while there, so I imagine Dazai has at least complicated feelings regarding him. Also Mori’s shows just a sliver of tenderness towards him at times, and lets him get away with things that he would be a bit stricter about with other people. And I’m sure he justifies it with some sort of logic about being able to use him in his plans, but given the ending of beast, I think it’s a bit more than that. Mori nursed Dazai back to health, was on constant suicide watch for a year, Dazai talked to him enough about Odasaku that he knew how much Dazai cared for him, Mori talks about Dazai with what sometimes reads as bittersweet regret. It’s a much more complicated dynamic.
That’s why when Chuuya’s friends die to fulfill a plan he just continues on, because he’s loyal to the Port Mafia and if Mori thinks it was best for the organization then so be it. But when Dazai’s friend dies to better the pm it’s a personal betrayal he struggles to recover from.
He looka like hed call me a slur and then beat me with a bible... I would NOT like it... Id only let mayoi or chuuya do that to me

Idk if im the only one who thinks this, but the Bungo anime wouldve gone so much harder if it was animated in the 90s style of animation, specificly the evangelion style. Or even like the Dadaroma, NANA, or Paradise kiss style of animation. I have a lot of issues with the current anime, and most are animation related...
