biggest reason i make so many flop posts on here is because everything i do reeks of the desperation to make a popular tumblr post. this is deliberate, because it is what protects me from ACTUALLY making a popular tumblr post. so long as i crave it, tumblr fame will never find me. it is only when i turn away, and accept my fate of obscurity, that people will lay their eyes upon me. and it WILL be because i tripped and fell on my stupid face while i was turning

Now more than ever is a good time to learn to make zines.

What Are Zines?

Zines ("zeens") are small, self-published booklets filled with whatever the creator is passionate about. They can focus on personal stories, niche interests, or even artwork. Unlike traditional publications, zines are informal, handmade, and often deeply personal. They don’t have to be perfect—what matters is the message and creativity behind them.

How Zines Spread Information

Zines are powerful tools for sharing ideas, especially when mainstream outlets overlook certain voices or topics

- They’re Accessible: You don’t need fancy equipment or money to make one—just paper, pens, and your imagination

- They Cover What Matters to You: Zines are great for exploring personal experiences, activism, or any quirky interests you’re passionate about

- They Build Community: Zines often connect like-minded people, sparking conversations and creating new relationships

- They Educate and Inspire: Whether it’s about a social cause, a DIY skill, or your favorite band, zines can teach and inspire readers

How to Make a Zine

1. Pick Your Topic: What’s the thing you can’t stop thinking about? That’s your zine idea.

2. Plan Your Pages: Jot down what you want to include—stories, drawings, photos, poems, or collages. Anything goes!

3. Choose a Format: The easiest option is a mini-zine (made from one folded sheet of paper), but you can also staple multiple pages together for a booklet

4. Design Your Layout: Use scissors, glue, markers, and whatever you have on hand. If you prefer digital tools, programs like Canva or even Word work well! I use Procreate

5. Print & Assemble: Make photocopies or print them at home. You can alzojust remake them by hand. Fold, staple, or bind them together however you like

6. Share It: Hand them out to friends, leave them in local spots, or share them online as PDFs

Zines are all about self-expression, so don’t worry about making it perfect—it’s your creation, and that’s what matters. Invite friends to contribute, try different styles, and most importantly, have fun with it.

Thespius paper doll for @binksart's Thespius fashion zine! This is a collab with the wonderful @malartsorte, who approached me with this frankly genius idea, and since I love the concept of paper dolls I jumped in pretty much immediately. Can you believe we did all of that in less than six days, I'm so proud of us \o/

I drew Thespius, Sorte drew all the Click Clacks, and we each drew several outfits (if you're curious, Sorte's are the ones with the most intricate details~) and accessories that we swapped for colouring :>

By the way, here is a google drive link with the files in high res (including a transparent version) so you can play with it if you want to! Download it, print it out, colour it, etc.! Have fun!! :D

Zine Topic/Subject/Focus Ideas (brainstorming):

Favorite family recipes (one recipe per zine? hand drawn illustrations of steps/ingredients; include personal stories/memories about the recipe)

"Wanted" posters (hand drawn "Wanted" posters of things I want in the moment I create the zine; ex. cup of coffee, peace of mind, time machine, my missing "marbles", etc...)

"Unwanted" posters (similar to "Wanted" posters idea, but things i don't want; ex. mosquitoes, 90 degree F days in September, car problems, Donald Trump on my news feed)

"Static in my Head" (smaller collections of black and white abstract art similar to my "Static in my Head" sketchbook, but released as a series)

*hits You With A Time Travel Quirk*

*hits you with a time travel quirk*

i love thinking about bakugo getting hit with a time travel quirk and his symbolic nightmares become a very tangible and chaotic new reality. sth sth learning how to move on as a better person without letting your past and shame control you, even if it's gonna follow you for the rest of your life in one way or another.

i don't think bakugo should atone repeatedly for his childhood sins, but i also don't really agree with the sentiment that their childhood wouldn't affect their adulthood. i think a lot of their little habits (the good and the bad) were formed during their childhood and as a result of their friendship and falling out, i think sometimes that catches them off-guard in their adulthood and leads to unexpected situations that require them to manage their emotions well so it doesn't end in unjust accusations and yeah.

From a writing and character standpoint, I don’t believe Toph would be a cop or any member of a structured system.

But what is funny is that I can 100% believe her daughter becomes a cop. In real life, a lot of children rebel against how their parents raised them. If Toph ended up being more of an anarchist or nomad—her “rebellious” daughter might look for structure instead.

In an AU, I can see Lin becoming an enforcer of Law and Order just because her mom never gave her the stability she craved and likely needed—as Toph always had an aversion for it. This would ironically twist Lin and Suyin’s roles with the former actually being the “rebel” in the family.

This is the inherit cycle of human’s desire for rebellion and stability—as well as a key trait of “generational trauma”.

the family find out Jason is alive before he has the chance to come to Gotham as Red Hood because at 4am while searching for some random background videos to play while he worked, Tim stumbles upon the youtube channel that Jason’s been uploading survival videos to throughout his training at the LOA

Tim, not paying attention to the TV as he taps at his laptop:

the TV, autoplay enabled: “-part 2 of how to escape an old desert city, now I’ve been here for like two weeks but I got these magic swords now which is cool-“

Tim, slowly glancing at the screen and freezing:

“-also wanna say shout out to my little brother Damian, who demanded i put him in a video, so there we go, and also thanks to the commenter who pointed out in part 1 that around the ten minute mark there was some shadowy shape watching me in the distance, you were totally right and i took care of that fucker-“

No amount of "She wanted to lay-low after the war" will justify whatever the heck happened to Katara in TLOK

"She doesn't have enough reason to have a statue" And the cabbage man has?

"She wanted to focus on her children" They managed to portray Zuko a good father because of how well his children has turned out while being the freaking firelord. I don't know what's stopping the writiers from doing the same to Katara.

"She wouldn't wanted to involve herself in politics" Did we all watched ATLA????

If you think reviving the Avatar, who, if you're not aware died during the Avatar State, is not enough of a reason to even RECOGNIZE Katara's contributions, I think you need to freaking rewatch ATLA and realize how much they downgraded her in TLOK

Something I find interesting is that even though Bryke reduced Katara to a mom and a healer, they couldn't even do that right.

Katara is a mom. What was her relationship like with her kids? How did her kids feel about her? Was she a good mom? Who knows? Bryke didn't care enough to address it. Everything about her kids revolves around Aang and his bad parenting. What about her grandkids? Well she has no relationship with them. They barely know her.

Katara is a great healer (instead of great waterbender). Are we shown how great her skills have gotten? Nope! She fails every time she tries to heal someone on-screen just to show how bad the affliction is.

So Katara was there to serve as a trophy wife and baby machine for Aang, and once she served that purpose, Bryke didn't give a damn about her. She has no known accomplishments in her adult life (banning bloodblending doesn't count because it didn't accomplish anything). And after Aang dies, she's just a sad, lonely widow.

I’m sorry but Katara should have been integral in rebuilding the culture of the Southern Water Tribe. She should have become the chief based on merit, and she should have ensured that their traditions remained alive and well. A leader in her own right, protecting them and teaching girls and boys alike how to fight.

She should have brought Hama back with her and Hama could have received a simple “banishment” as her punishment for locking up the village people - after all she already did a couple of decades as time served - and Hama could have helped educate in the old ways. Katara will never let another water bender be stolen from their lands again.

Katara deserved to be a diplomat and leader and cultural preservationist who communicated with Republic City (council still headed by Sokka) and traveled often, but always came home to the southern water tribe.

She did not deserve to be stuck in a mommy role, remembered as a healer, whose biggest accomplishment was birthing the next airbender. She should have been a mythical figure, the last water bender of the southern tribe who resurrected the avatar and stopped the cycle from being broken, a healer and fighter. She should have been revered.

People defend Katara being reduced to only a healer in LoK by saying that fighting was too traumatic for her but Katara's most traumatic moments often involved healing, like having to bring her friends back from the brink of death more than once, or discovering she could heal through experiencing intense pain and being hurt by someone she loved, or being told that healing was all she was good for. Meanwhile she looked like she was having the time of her life beating some dude's ass.
