actually the main reason i think gi-hun is a good person despite his flaws is because of this:

after all that happened in the first games and he was able to go home with the money to pay for his mothers treatment, he found his mother dead. any other person would be broken and would have likely ended their life at some point or become completely destroyed.

but what does he do? he picks himself up and once he realizes the games are still going on, he dedicates his life to making sure no one else has to go through this.

yet people want to complain about him not getting on that plane. yes his daughter deserves to have her father in her life, but her life isn’t threatened and she has a stable support system. he was willing to actively risk his life to save hundreds of others from death and trauma.

i dont care what yall say. gi hun has a good heart and doesn’t deserve some of the hate he gets.

Since Squid Game 2 has a transgender character who was a special forces solider, I’d like everyone to remember the memory of Sergeant Byun Hee-soo, a transgender soldier (the very first publicly known) who committed suicide in 2021 after being expelled from the South Korean army for undergoing gender confirmation surgery.

I know Cho Hyun-ju being played by a cisgender actor is less than ideal, but I’m keeping in mind how much difficult it is when it comes to feminism and LGBT issues in South Korea. Hopefully her character will bring some good!

thing about ryuji that fucks me up so bad is that not only IS it really common for abused kids to become abusive as parents themselves but we’ve already seen ryuji has the same anger issues and traits that would lead to him very easily continuing the cycle. and so many horrible people in his life tell him that he WILL, hell already IS. but he’s just so. he tries so hard. he doesn’t want to hurt the people close to him at all. actively tries to save and protect others, even people he doesn’t know well at all. he just loves, so so much. it’s so nuanced and perfect. it’s absolutely gut wrenching. it’s tear jerking man
