‘The Greatest Hero.’
Every 21st century piece of writing advice: Make us CARE about the character from page 1! Make us empathize with them! Make them interesting and different but still relatable and likable!
Every piece of classic literature: Hi. It's me. The bland everyman whose only purpose is to tell you this story. I have no actual personality. Here's the story of the time I encountered the worst people I ever met in my life. But first, ten pages of description about the place in which I met them.
Always. A poem from my poetry book LOVE AND SPACE DUST VOLUME II - available WORLDWIDE on Amazon!!

I think a lot about Shepard's fish tank wipeout in the Citadel DLC.
The entire DLC is this lighthearted love letter to Mass Effect, and it's beautiful. But then there's THIS moment. When Shepard falls through a fish tank.
The entire way down, they desperately try to arrest their fall. They have no shields. No combat armor. There is no one to catch them. It feels like this is one of the few times there is ever fear. And they don't land gently. And the cut scene lingers on it. There is no levity in this moment. Shepard is on the ground, groaning in pain, slow to get up, clutching their ribs. First instinct before they try to get to their feet? Reach for the gun. Have that first. Then see if you can stand.
And I think the only reason we can have this moment, where Shepard is vulnerable, injured, and in trouble, is because there is no one there to see. The moment Brooks gets on the comm, they crack a joke. "Yup. Feeling good." While unable to stand up straight.
We get this at the end of the game, too, but that's when the stakes are at their highest. That's when it's supposed to be hard. It's no less magnificent then, but now, in this moment? When everything was happy and fun and silly? MAN.
And afterward, everyone jokes about it. Every single member of your squad makes a crack about the sushi place. And Shepard plays along. Haha, yeah, fell right through it, while trying to change the subject.
No one knows what that fall was like. No one saw Shepard lying on the ground in the bowls of the Silversun Strip, water dripping off them, struggling to get to their feet.
And no one asks, because it's Shepard.
The Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and Mothman are actually old gods, each controlling Water, Earth, and Air respectively.
Each were mighty in their own ways. Large and powerful beasts. All but the fire elemental.
You wouldn't be able to tell it was a mighty beast that could make volcanoes erupt, forest fires spread. Burn down cities in a moment.
No. This God could be seen sleeping in the embers of open fires. Camouflaged as burning coal.
A small animal, an innocent looking creature that could fit in the palm of your hand.
A fire salamander.
Out of open flames it looks like a pure black salamander. The kind you find climbing on walls and sneaking in the grass.
It was a creature that could be set off at the snap of a finger. It showed no mercy. It set fires at a whim and without remorse. It would convince children to catch it or pick it up only to burn them.
However the God knew they needed balance and allowed him to continue its antics. Till one day. A historic moment in all of humanity.
The destruction of Pompeii.
It was that salamander that activated the volcano. For what? Fun. He watched in glee and men, women and children fall to the flames and the lava.
It was that event that broke the other gods. He was sealed the the very valcano he used on Pompeii
The Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and Mothman are actually old gods, each controlling Water, Earth, and Air respectively. Fire was banished years ago, but no one knows what they were, or why they were exiled.

(May 22nd) Hi everyone, I’m Gemma and I desperately need your help. Is anyone able to spare a few £’s so I can eat this week?
If anyone has been following me for any amount of time, you’ll know that I’ve been struggling a lot these past few months due to my U.C benefit being under a Work Capability Assessment (evidence) and it has been sanctioned and reassessed due to it, causing me to struggle with my rent + bill payments and to get groceries/household supplies (laundry powder, dish soap, pads etc..) and I could really use your help to get these essentials, at least until I receive help at the end of May/mid-June(government aid).
I also understand that everyone is struggling to get by, but even just £1/$1/€1 makes such a difference and sharing definitely helps just as much a donations and nobody has to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, thank you.💖
you are the hero of ferelden. no matter your origin you watch those you love most be ripped from you. death becomes an endless cycle which seems to follow you wherever you go. the fate of the world rests on your shoulders as you know you can never return home. home is gone now. home is buried with your family, jailed with your closest ally, cradled by the ancestors, forgotten like your beloved, lost to time in the murky glass of the eluvian- dead in your arms, killed at your hand. you are the hero of ferelden and it is your destiny to die. when next the world falls apart, you do not come. this world does not deserve your pity.
you are the champion of kirkwall. you are a refugee, cold and hungry and sold into labour. your mother hates you, though she will never say it. it's your fault the ogre killed your sibling, your fault the taint took the other. but you are happy. you have everything, friends and family and status and riches. you defeat the people plaguing your glorious city, you are the people's hero. you will always know even as she came back, isabela left you to die. you are happy but you are alone. you have everything and then you are rocking back and forth begging please please please do not take my mother as well. you have nothing, but you for a single second, you had everything. you are the champion of kirkwall, and your ally has blown up the chantry. where is your home now that everything is your fault?
you are the herald of andraste. and you are so, so scared. these people do not trust you, do not like you, would feed you to the fade if they could. they do not care if you follow another religion, you are their herald. you can never return home because heroes do not have homes. they say home is the people you choose, but you didn't choose these people, did you? every step you take aches. thousands reach out to touch you, for safety. for comfort. you are a black hole close to destruction, and you cannot do this. you are the herald of andraste and you have not been yourself for so long now.
