hi! just played the demo and thought it was really interesting! (sol already owns my heart š„ŗ) but i have a few questions if you don't mind: 1. can you briefly explain the difference between the different origins? do you get different stats? 2. what is the general opinion on people who don't follow a religion? 3. is there gonna be a huge consequence if we choose to not follow a god (since the game's title is "faith of gods")? (1/2)
(2/2) 4. who of the ros are religious and what's their opinion of an atheist mc? sorry for the questions, i'm just really interested in your game and can't wait for more! š
Hi! Thank you !! And Iām happy to answer any questions, so donāt worry lol
Sol and Flor are both religious, but in different ways, and they both struggle with their faith.
Solās reasons are a spoiler to their character arc, but theyāre faithful only in the sense that they believe the gods to exist. Beyond that, theyāre lost. An atheist MC, a faithful one, neither would have any impact on Solās view of them. The MC is who they are.
Flor, however, was not only raised to follow the faith, but their father is one of the Saints to the High Priestess, and theyāve lived a large part of their life in Dirthākinai, which is the birthplace of the human faith. Religion is a big part of their history, even if how they feel on it is muddled. As for an atheist MC, they would admire one, as they seem to have a much clearer outlook on life than they do.
Khiita is religious, too, but she doesnāt follow the faith of the human countries (Mydras/Sedruadal/Astium). An MC being atheist isnāt something she would fully understand, as in her mind, the gods are very much real & tangible things. Itās something she would ultimately be fine with, when she got over her confusion.
CĆan isnāt religious, and has never much cared for it, both of which are rare things for the noble families of Mydras. Heād be more at ease around an atheist MC than an overly devout one.
What is the general opinion on people who donāt follow a religion?
It varies depending on the country youāre from/in.
In Mydras, being nonreligious is a big deal, as Mydras is where the faith was founded, and most people there are religious in some sense. A nonreligious native of the country is thought to be on the path to corruption, and are either shamed or shunned. Those not from Mydras (but still nonreligious) are typically just avoided, as itās a ālesser offenseā.
In Astium itās a big deal as well, but only in the capital or the larger trade cities, which have stronger ties to Mydras than the outer towns. You wonāt be shamed for it, but youāll definitely be the subject of gossip within the Court.
In Sedruadal, itās a nonissue. It might get some eyebrow raises or surprise in the border cities but for the most part, itās much more commonplace. Worship tends to be either nonexistent, fall to the Sedrulish Ascended only (Kreia/Oxanah/Goem), or fall to the spirits that guard the land.
Is there gonna be a huge consequence if we choose not to follow a god?
Not in the way you might think. Choosing to have no faith sets you on a separate path, but all roads lead to the end, if that makes sense. It is something that will have an impact on how Chapter Two goes, but the same applies to being faithful and what god you follow.
Can you briefly explain the difference between the different origins? Do you get different stats?
TLDR; it effects flavor text, (some) available choices, and starting stats. It doesnāt affect the game endings, just how you get there.
Itās mentioned briefly here, but essentially, the origins set you on mini-branches at certain points in the game, as well as have an impact on the flavor text of a lot of scenes.
A good example of what changes is the āhome dreamā at the end of the Prologue. You still do the same things in each one (decide your appearance and gender), and the ending is still the same, but the atmosphere varies greatly.
Smaller details about the MC change as well. Myd!MCs are a single child with a mother and father; Sed!MCs have an older sister, a younger sibling, and two mothers; Ast!MCs have two older sisters and an eldest brother, and their only parent is their dad. Ast!MCs have traveled all over Astium, whereas Myd!MCs have never left Dirthākinai, and Sed!MCs have never seen the ocean.
Some choices are locked behind an origin. Ast!MCs are the only ones who can have dyed hair, while Sed!MCs are the only ones able to have ash blonde/white hair. Myd!MCs can have a unique history with one of the ROs, Flor, so thereās also that.
Some NPC interactions/reactions are dependent on your origin choice, too, but this is something more minor. In Chapter One, there are characters you can talk to, and who you get depends on your origin.
As for stats: yes, it does!
Mydras MCs have a small starting boost to magic, dexterity, and tact. They also have a boost to their starting relationship with Flor.
Sedruadal MCs have a small starting boost to dexterity, strength, will, and cunning. They also have a boost to their relationship with Sol.
Astium MCs have a larger starting boost in magic and knowledge. They also have a boost to their starting relationship with Khiita.
I think I got everything, but if something needs to be clarified, feel free to ask!
I know Iām late for the party, but here is my highly specific favorite ship dynamics.
Still Enemies. Still Lovers.

I'm at loss of words....not even thirsty, - PARCHED!! ON FIRE!!! That was so intimate and h o t
So...if it's not uncomfy to answer, what are the thoughts of ros on giving/receiving hickeys/marks? š (And if it IS okay to ask, what's their reaction on when mc is caught with hickeys/they are caught with them)
Can ghosts be even marked you say? Why, for thirsty simps they totally do ahffgah šš
Ghosts and/or souls can have marks if they want. If they imagine there is a mark on their skin, then there will be one. It's like the needs of when they were alive: they don't need to sleep, eat, rest, go to the bathroom...but if they act like they do, then they will have to, or they will collapse.Ā
A: They are very open to it, especially in receiving hickeys or being tagged in any way possible. They donāt care to be caught with marks and hickeys, itās kind of flattering to them, so they donāt try to hide or deny it, but when they see the marks on the Mc⦠they can get a little shy at first, especially if someone else notices it too. (Now, you see, for a soul to leave marks on someone alive, there has to be a lot of control and trust especially if the person is a medium)Ā
S: It depends on the place, they like to receive marks and hickeys but never in a visible place and they will do the same for Mc. But always discreetly, if they happen to get caught with some marks, they tried to ignore the whole situation (while they think they need to be more careful next time) If they see the Mc with hickeys or marks they will warn them before someone else See ... but if there isn't time they will just sigh and accept what happened. (For them these things are just between them and Mc and they don't like to expose themselves like that.)Ā
Bo: She loves to leave marks on Mc, and also likes to receive them, she shows it even more proudly than A. So she doesn't care if anyone sees, on the contrary, she will make a point of showing it. a little more. If she sees Mc with marks and hickeys, she will be willing to mark them again, and if she sees that other people have noticed too, she will likely, happily, take the blame for the marks on Mc.Ā
Kyle: Well, he doesn't mind getting marks and hickeys. Seriously, Mc can mark him however they wants and as much as they wants, wherever they wants. But he hates to leave any kind of mark on them, he will avoid doing that as much as possible, but if he happens to leave a hickey in the Mc and someone sees it, he will destroy the person before any opinion can be formed (joke...or no) he would see it more as an annoyance than anything. If the marks are on him and someone sees it, he doesn't care at all.Ā
š They will mark every part of Mc's skin and make sure to show it off. They don't care that other people know about marks and hickeys. But the Mc can't do that at all, unless of course they beg properly and š are feeling in a good mood...Ā
As mentioned in an earlier post, helvling MCs will look a little more like their Bound helspawn entity in the revised demo. This means that they'll also have access to a few of their monstrous abilities a little earlier. :')Ā
The following texts are how they will be perceived in their 'standard' form (as written in-game):
Nokken:
"You appear mostly human at a quick glance, but a closer look soon reveals your otherworldly nature; the hair on your head seems to slightly undulate and sway as if underwater, and your eyes shine with a silvery glow. Your ears taper upwards into points and shimmering, iridescent patches of skin cover your entire body. Rows of serrated teeth fill your mouth, each individual tooth sharp and pointed."
Barghest:
"You appear mostly human at a quick glance, but a closer look soon reveals your otherworldly nature; the whites of your eyes are completely black, making most people who look you in the eye recoil in instinctive fear. Shadows seem to cling to your form, moving in erratic and unnatural ways as if they had a mind of their own. Your canines are long and pointed, while razor-sharp claws tip your hands and feet."
Sylvan:
"You appear mostly human at a quick glance, but a closer look soon reveals your otherworldly nature; curling from your forehead is a pair of antlers with a bark-like texture, while a faint golden glow seems to emit from a golden ring around your eyes. Your ears taper into sharp points and the texture of your skin seems to resemble bark in some places. Vines and blooms seem to sprout from your very body, entwining themselves around your limbs and in your hair."
Basilisk:
"You appear mostly human at a quick glance, but a closer look soon reveals your otherworldly nature; two horns protrude from thickened ridges on your forehead, and your fingers and toes are tipped with sharp black claws. Your skin shimmers with an almost metallic sheen under certain lighting. Most striking, perhaps, are the snake-like slits of your pupils, while the long retractable fangs in your upper and lower jaw are slightly less apparent."
I'm having a hard time finding the list of ROs š who are the ROs besides R?
oh hey!! no problemo! maybe i should edit the pinned post to have a short description of each one? i'll write one up here and add it afterwards!
ROs in a nutshell:
r - a kind, peaceful fisherman/woman that just wants a good and quiet life for their loved ones (see more here)
i (or il) - a glib-tongued and charming merchant that holds an intense hatred for magicians (see more here)
n - a grumpy, lone wolf magician that doubles as a key figurehead among the rebels
a - a duty-bound yet idealistic noble that's part of the Holy Order, assigned to hunt down and capture magicians
thank you for the ask! :D
Eirris has been conqueredāagain. As other countries seek to expand their resources and their empires, the island nation of Eirrisās largely underdeveloped landscape proves too attractive. The High King of Eirris has been deposed and executed. Amarand now occupies the most populace port cities, and their crown prince now lives in the capital where he is hoping to make an advantageous marriage match. The Eirris clans, once united under the High King, now have fractured loyalties and motives. Some work to return Eirris to its previous power, searching tirelessly for an heir to the high throne. Some work with Amarand, earning themselves access to safe roads and profitable trade allies. Some have taken the opportunity to break free of kingdom rule entirely, and now operate as Free Clans.Ā Ā
You were born into a fenā a group of warriors loyal to a clanā and within the first two decades of your life, your group managed to make quite the name for yourselves as fearless and loyal adventurers. When the leader of your fen is executed for treason against the Amarandish crown, you find yourself quite suddenly without footing in the everchanging world around you. As you embark on a new adventureāfull of magic and plenty of mysteries that need solvingā meet a diverse cast of characters that, come what will or what may, change your life forever.Ā
A fully customizableĀ MC: choose your name, gender, sexuality, appearance, personality, religion, stats, and backstory
Choose from three types of magical backgrounds: Are you a druid, with ties to the fae and animism whose magic some fear, or are you a psychic, whose fortune telling and scrying are greatly admired, or are you an alchemist, whose affinity for healing and connection to the elements make you a valuable court mage?
Unique worldbuilding: while Good Folk is heavily character driven, a lot of thought and detail went into the creation of a completely unique world, one that MC travels extensively through the course of the story.Ā
Find romance⦠or not!: Good Folk was designed as a romance game and has a diverse cast of characters available for romance. There are 6 romance options including male, female, non-binary, and trans ROs, as well as the option to romance any of the ROs as asexual. Every RO is available to every MC. Or choose not to romance anyone at all, and just make lifelong friends! (Note: This game will most likely feature explicit content and is only suitable for players 18+)
Determine the End State of Eirris: What will your homeland look like at the end of your journey? Will it remain under Amarand rule. Will it be united under an Eirrisian High King? Are there other options out there? Play to find out!
