So internet archive lost their lower court case. They're appealing, and have a good chance with the 2nd circuit, but they need help. Here's a link directly from one of their librarians for how you can help.
my favorite fic trope
teenagers are scary
Something tells me they don't like "Angel" that much.
Dank spidey memes
Ohh, so I was looking at my storage and found these! I originally shared them on twitter before yeeting the platform. Anyway, feel free to use! Art memes for your oc :D
I just dreamt that Gabriel was chasing me through a marshy swamp all night until he turned to stone when the sunlight touched him.
A note on Miguel bc I feel like some people are overlooking this
Miguel is stricken by grief.
That doesn’t justify his actions. But it adds depth to his character, and explains why he was so ready to fight miles.
Miguel lost EVERYTHING that was important to him. She didn’t get any screen time, but he lost his wife. She was the love of his life, his estrella, his vida, his everything. And then he lost his daughter. Imagine loosing two of the most important people in your whole life in the same way at the exact same time
You can’t. Because it is mentally incomprehensible for your brain to do so!! We aren’t equipped (as humans) to experience the amount of grief we have to. Our bodies can literally shut down due to grief. And he experienced that not once but twice.
And to add even more pain, he is Spider-Man!!! He was supposed to save them!! To be there and save the day. But he couldn’t and didn’t and that’s why he feels so much guilt over their deaths.
so he built a device to literally change dimensions to try to get them back (this isn’t ever explicitly stated but I highly doubt he just stumbled upon a universe where he was happy) This is what makes Miguel a sympathetic character. He lost everything, got it back, but at a cost.
We know in our heart of hearts he didn’t care abt killing the other universe’s version of him. He got back what he lost, no matter who had to die for it. But then. he lost it all again.
And at the cost of an entire universe this time.
billions and billions of everything glitched out and vanished.
(Basing off the theory that Miguel’s device prevents him from glitching yet the glitch of the displaced atoms must go somewhere, therefore they went to like... the universe)
Miguel HAS to believe in canon events and shit. Because if he doesn’t, then all the suffering he went through was just. nothing. it happened for no reason.
And Miguel is (highly implied) to be someone who doesn’t really deal with “there’s no rhyme or reason to death” well. So in this mess of grief over losing the love of his life, his daughter, killing a version of himself, and then loosing them AGAIN at the sacrifice of an entire universe where his daughter is begging in his arms as she dies, his brain creates the idea of canon events. Complete bullshit justifications for all the pain that he had to go through.
They aren’t real. They aren’t based in fact. There is no other example of a universe “dying” due to the disruption of a canon event. Even visually Pav’s universe was being eaten alive by The Spot, slowly being consumed by black (hobie calling it “a metaphor for capitalism”) while Miguel’s was glitching out, pixelated, and spotty.
Miguel is deeply delusional and just a really sad man who is willing to kill to keep his delusion alive. He went violent when the first “threat” to his delusion intervened (miles) and will stop at nothing short of LETTING A CIVILIAN DIE AT THE HANDS OF A SUPERVILLAIN to stay delusional. Miguel is not the villain but simply an antagonist.
