I loved season 3 and think the crew did an amazing job wrapping the story nicely while only have 3 episodes. I have so much respect for them. Iām asking this question out of curiosity, not to disrespect the hard work done.
My ranking:
Watching & Dreaming
This finale is one of my favorites of all time. The Collector got really good development, Luzās sacrifice and Titan form, the animation was beautiful, and pretty much every scene brought something beautiful. The fight scenes were amazingly animated and thrilling to watch. Belosā death was so satisfying and watching him get stomped to death was somehow pretty funny. The post-credit was super cute and I liked the way the characters said bye to the audience through the Collector. The King-ceaƱera was sweet because I remember hearing that S3 wouldāve had an episode with Luz celebrating her quinceaƱera. Itās sad that the episode didnāt happen but Iām glad it was included into the finale.
Thanks to Them
Luz and Hunter carried this episode for me. I really connected with them and their struggles- mental health struggles. Seeing Camila get more spotlight was great. Sheās an amazing mom! The montage of what the crew was doing in the Human realm was cute and kind of bittersweet because these scenes couldāve been made into episodes, especially with Hunter questioning his identity. I liked seeing Vee again and her new human look is adorable. Flapjackās death always makes me tear up. He was my favorite palisman so it made his sacrifice hurt more. Iām glad Belos got his retribution for all the pain he caused.
For the Future
I enjoyed this episode. Seeing everyone (Matt, Emira and Eldric, and Boscha) was great. I was happy to see Willow get some spotlight since she was pushed back for the past few episodes. I relate to her anxiety on having to keeping things together and trying to always be reliable. Hunter developing powers was great(he has a part of Flapjack left). The Huntlow moments were adorable; they are my second favorite ship and seeing them grow closer was so cute. Seeing Luz resolve her issues was great and her palisman is adorable.
The only thing that drops this episode down my ranking is the inclusion of Kikimora. Personally, I donāt care enough for Kikimora that I would want her to come back. I wouldāve been fine with her last scene being in the S2 finale. I understand that she was a secondary character to Boschaās development, but I donāt care about Boscha that much to say that Kikimora coming back was worth it. I think it bothers me because we spent a good chunk of that episode focusing on Boscha and Kikimora that the episode felt stagnant at moments. I wouldāve preferred The Collector having more screen time. This issue doesnāt make me hate the episode, but it is my least favorite S3 episode.
Hi everyone! Just found this fun article and thought about posting it here. I got Runt, which is meh for me. I don't know him enough to have him in my top 3. He's cute tho.
Who did you guys get? šā¤ļø

Leo almost dying twice and Splinterās death effected Donnie more than the others.
*MENTIONS OF BLOOD & DEATH*
This is one of my favorite headcanons I wrote since I really delve into Donnieās character even if it is not canon.
I came to the conclusion based on something Donnie said in season 5 in the Monster arc. While in a fight, Donnie mentioned that he hated blood. Someone had a headcanon that Splinterās death was the reason. After getting stabbed and dropped from a building, there would be a lot of blood, but it was censored.
With Leo, Donnie felt like it was his fault his brother almost died the first time because Leo separated from the group after their argument.
I donāt know if I overanalyzed Donnieās reaction to Leoās second near death experience. I know the brothers were all there, but Donnie was sort of the medic and was trying to revive Leo. A lot of things must have been going through his head. Like if he does the wrong or no action, Leo will die and it will be his fault. Everyone would be devastated, but Donnie would make it tougher to handle since he will always wonder, āI healed him once, why couldnāt I do it again?ā It would eat away at him of what might have been.
Leo survived, but those questions will never stop running through Donnieās mind.
Splinterās death had an affect on him because as I mentioned before, Donnie is the medic of the family. Seeing that he couldnāt do anything to save his father, only hug him along with his brothers. For the first few months, Donnie will try to find ways to prevent someone from dying, so he could save any of his loved ones.
Well, thatās it. Canāt believe I wrote so much.
What do you guys think? šā¤ļø
So, this version of April is pretty controversial, especially beyond this community. Many fans accuse her of being a toxic, manipulative women. Even some fans would use derogatory words. For me, she is not so bad. Not my favorite, but pretty okay.
Iām not trying to convince others to change their minds. I respect everyoneās opinions because everyone matters is many ways. All I want to do is explain how I see April and get some of you guysā opinions.
Hope you enjoy this analysis! And comment down below if you would like me to analyze another character.
Anyway, here we go.
The Main Issues
Season 2:
This season was where it all began with April hate train.
I think almost everyone can agree that April wasnāt so bad in season one, maybe even likable. At least, I did.
But all that potential love went down the drain once season two started.
The first episode, called āThe Mutation Situation,ā takes place a few months after they defeat the Kraang and the Shredder disappeared. Everything seemed fine since Aprilās dad was back and the city hadnāt been attacked. But, the Turtles once again have to face the Kraang and stop them from transporting their mutagen supply. They asked for April and her dadās help to find the ship, though she had to trick him into doing it. The four brothers destroyed the ship, but they paid the price because all of the mutagen in the ship fell off, scattered across the city. One of the vials was going to drop on April, except her father took the hit and mutated into a human-sized bat.
Kirby kidnaps April and the guys have to save her. Once they did, Michelangelo reveals that him and his brotherās were indirectly responsible for the incident.
April gets so mad and storms off, wishing to never see them again.
Okay, so from my perspective, I understand why April broke down and said those hurtful things the first time. She went through a lot during the first season. With her dad being held captive for so long, getting kidnapped and probed by the Kraang, and being forced to relinquish most of her old life.
Iām surprised she isnāt even a bit traumatized.
When April believed the Kraang were defeated and her dad was safe, she was happy to have her life back in some kind of order. Yet, in basically a day, that whole dream died right in front of her. She was tired of all the fighting, and lost it when she realized she would have to again. In her irrational, emotional mind, I think she was angry at the turtles for more than just accidentally mutating her dad. She associated them as the start to all the craziness she didnāt want.
After everything she went through, April was desperate to have some clarity that she was willing to throw away her close friends.
Iām not saying that she shouldnāt have apologized. April needed to apologize.
What I didnāt condone from this arc was her yelling at Donnie in āTarget: April OāNeil.ā She went a bit off line and at least shouldāve had some sense in what she was saying. Maybe Donnie practically stalking got her upset, but I get why people would get upset with her over that.
Ā The Love Triangle:
This love triangle was the worst written plot point in this show. I still love the show, but god this needed so much work.
I believe there were some Apritello shippers around season one. I kind of shipped them.
This ship was ruined once season two came around with that April arc and introducing Casey.
I love Casey, but he was mostly used as a plot device for the love triangle. He had so much more potential than what he got.
Based on the comments about the triangle, most people have an issue with their belief that April was manipulating the guys and how unclear the status of either Apritello or Capril.
I just got to say that poor April was dragged through the mud because of the writerās mistakes. They confused the h*ll out of us, or at least me, with all the will they, wonāt they switcheroo. It was hard to tell if April liked Donnie, Casey, both, or none of them. I think the main goal with this triangle was the writers indecision to either follow the 2003 versionās lead with Capril or go their own path with Apritello. If they had decided, this plot point would have been so much better.
To be honest, I think the writers stopped April from making a decision to make the show āinteresting. āIn season 3, it seemed like April wanted to be with Donnie. Casey and her were also acting more like friends instead of love interests. Yet, in the first episode of season 4, they had to make him get love struck over her new outfit.
Ughh... the writers confused me too much.
I think it didnāt come to fansā minds that maybe April was confused with her feelings. Maybe she liked both guys and didnāt reject both of them outright because of her need to clear her head. Sure, it was a bad idea to be honest with them, but people make mistakes.
Ā āThe Power Inside Herā:
People are a bit harsh towards April in this episode. I totally get how they feel, though their hate for her could have clouded their judgment.
The biggest complaint I have seen about this episode is the fans being angry with April for not breaking from the alienās control. Compared to the aeon, Za-Naron, April is a not that experience with her mental powers. Communicating or using their mental powers is normal for the Aeons, while April figured out how to use them a few months or a year ago. As she kept the crystal, Za-Naron control over her grew stronger. I think that if any other character like Leo or Donnie, fans would be more lenient since their writing was way better.
Of course, April needed to apologize for temporary killing Donnie, and hurting her friends; good thing she did. I donāt hold it against her as much as other fans.
Ā Conclusion:
After finishing the analysis, I concluded that April is a victim of bad writing instead of a terrible character. I know thereās an argument that the writing doesnāt really play a part with liking or disliking a character, but it does. Writers decide every characterās actions and create the person theyāll become. Reducing April to a plot device for romance was terrible. Not seeing Aprilās potential was one of the greatest disappointments in TMNT 2012.
If you still donāt like April, thatās fine. Iām not trying to change your mind. All I want is to open their perspectives and see that all the hate April gets can be explained.
Hope you enjoyed this analysis. Comment down below your thoughts.
Do you agree or disagree?
Thanks for reading! šā¤ļø
Here they are:
1. S3 was not as well structured as the other two seasons.
Season 3 was probably my least favorite season but Iāll have to rewatch season 1 to be completely sure. The over arcing story was just not handled as well as the previous twoās. I still liked, though there was a moment when I felt kind of bored with the show. I still think its a great show.Ā
2. Adding the TailSpin universe was a bad idea.
I did not like the TailSpin/Ducktales episode. It didnāt represent Kit well and the episode was basically mediocre fanservice. I wouldāve preferred if the episode was replaced or changed so the TailSpin was not included.Ā
3. Adding Poe so late into the show was a bad idea.
I was waiting for Poe since I first researched him (around the beginning of S3,) and his appearance was...underwhelming. He was introduced so late into the story that his story could not be solved or even delved into. Its one of the disappointing things about Ducktales ending. I donāt blame the writers too much on this since they probably didnāt expect for the show to get canceled.Ā
At least there are fanfics.Ā
4. The finale was not as perfect as people say (still very good).
I liked it. A lot of love was thrown in it, but it was really rushed. Some moments were thrown in without much hints, and there was too much bouncing between perspectives. Also, the contractās loophole was kind of dumb- sweet and cheesy, though still dumb.Ā
5. There were too many characters added in the finale.
This goes hand and hand with the previous opinion. Personally, when it comes to series finales, I prefer the spotlight to be mostly on the main characters. Maybe if there was more time then the character spotlight would have been better balanced.Ā
6. The show would have been more interesting if Della did not come back (still like her and the show though).
A gripe I have with the show is the lack of consequences Scrooge gets from his actions. Dellaās disappearance wouldāve been a good start for that development. Donāt get me wrong, I like Della and she is fun character. Yet, I still think about what could have happened if Della did not return.Ā
7. The triplets were too harsh on Scrooge based on his role with Dellaās disappearance.
Not saying that they didnāt have the right to be mad; the triplets were kind of mad at the wrong person. Sure, Scrooge built the rocket, but he most likely wanted to go to space as a whole family. When Della found out about her present, she decided to go to space. Iām at least glad the writers didnāt discount that.Ā
Anyway, HDL went too far when they accused Scrooge of caring more about his money than her and didnāt try to find her. Tbh, I almost cried seeing those flashbacks.Ā
Scrooge still needs to apologize (specifically to Webby for that comment about not being family).Ā
8. Darkwingās villains should have been real instead of in the show.
Now that I think about, I would prefer if some traits from the villains were transferred to other characters so Drake Mallard can have villains to fight. He can have new villains too, but at least a few familiar faces are needed.
There was a post here of an artist adding Megavolt into the 2017 universe by having an old high school friend of Drakeās taking inspiration from Megavolt to be a villain. That was an incredible idea!Ā
9. Too many characters were made.
Its more like the writers took on way too much trying to make Ducktales the Disney Afternoon Universe. Young Justice is a good example. In S3, the YJ writers wrote so many characters that most of them were half-baked. Same for Frank.
10. I donāt like or dislike the Webby twist (Iām in between).
I want to dedicate a whole post for this so I wonāt say too much. Basically, I like the Webby cloning idea, but not the Scrooge part. I donāt know why; it just doesnāt sit well with me.
I believe Leo would be flustered and insecure around the first few weeks of being in a relationship- particularly a samurai rabbit. *wink*
He would pretend to be someone heās not like being extra confident. But when his partner tells him how much they care about them, Leo will start being okay in his own skin.
Younger Me: I will never be attracted to men over 50
Current(19yo) Me:
Darkwing Duck Characters as Arcane Characters
*I only did a few because I couldnāt decide for other ones*
Nega-Gosalyn - Jinx/Powder: Jinx is a tragic character. Compared to her sister Vi, Jinx was not as physically strong and relied on more of her smarts.Ā Ā But, people usually underestimated her and her ideas didnt work most of the time in her childhood except once that caused dire consequences. This tragedy caused her intense mental trauma and fear of being abandoned.Ā
Gosalyn - Violet: Vi is Jinxās older and stronger sister. She is tough, rebellious and cares about her family. When she was young, her and Jinxās parents died which made Vi want to help her little sister grow. Vi is also not afraid to fight and is great in hand-to-hand combat.
Darkwing- Vander: Vander took in and raised Vi and Jinx when they were kids. Heās also in charge of taking care of the under city where people considered lower class live. Vander loves both of the girls but bonds more with Violet since he taught her how to fight and is trying to teach her leadership. He used to be a stubborn person but has since mellowed down after adopting Jinx and Powder.Ā
Negaduck- Silco: Silco is an antagonist and lives in the under city but is mostly looking out for himself. He once trusted someone but was betrayed which changed his view of the world. After the tragedy, he took in Jinx and considered her as a daughter. She grew to be the only other person who mattered to him
Launchpad-Benzo: Benzo is Vanderās good friend and sidekick in helping him. He is a nice store owner who takes care of a kid named Ekko who is his assistant.Ā
Grayson- J. Gander: Grayson is head of the police force for the utopian city and sometimes the under city. She is fair and works with Vander to keep peace in both cities.Ā
Bonus:
Heimerdinger- Scrooge: Heimerdinger is an immortal man who has considerable power in the utopian city. He is against magic due to an unknown tragedy.Ā
Mine: One of Leoās greatest wishes is to be a father.
I had a hard time picking 2003 or 2012 Leo for this headcanon, but a friend helped me decide.
So, what made me pick 2012 Leo over the 2003 version was just the vibes or hints the show gave that Leo had this fatherly nature. Plus, did you see him holding baby Karai and having tea time with that little girl? That is true dad power.
2003 Leo was also an option since I read a lot of fics that added the wish to be a father to his character. It actually works well with him.
What do you guys think? šā¤ļøTMNT
I would love to meet every voice actor in TMNT 2012, but if I had to pick the one I want to meet the most, Rob Paulsen would be my pick. I love all of Rob's voice roles like Carl from Jimmy Neutron, Peck from Back at the Barnyard, and especially Donnie. Plus, Rob is such a sweetheart and I just want to give him a big hug.
Greg Cipes is my second pick because I love Beast Boy, Mikey, and Kevin Levin.
Seth Green is my third because of Leo and Monty Monogram.
Sean Astin is last.
