Bookstore AU

So I’m pretty sure that most chain bookstores don’t just sell books anymore

Like it’s books, CDs, DVDs, records, nerdy accessories, toys, and coffee at the coffee shop that all bookstores have now

Tracer, McCree, Ana and Reinhardt work in the kids section 

(They read to the kids on the weekends. Tracer loves it because the kids are adorable, McCree loves it because he gets to wear his cowboy getup and the kids love it, and Ana and Reinhardt just love to be around little ones) 

Winston is the manager

Mercy and D.Va are baristas 

Reaper and Widow work in the CD/DVD/vinyl section 

Pharah and Lúcio work as cashiers 

Hanzo is always dragging Genji with him whenever he goes to see his boyfriend read to the kids 

Genji gets bored fast 

So he walks around the store 

He finds the religion section and wonders if anything here will help him find his purpose in life 

(No such luck) 

But he does find a man looking like a monk, sitting on the floor in between the aisles, reading. 

Genji is automatically interested because this guy knows what he’s doing 

So he talks to him 

The monk introduces himself as Zenyatta 

Zenyatta has the smoothest voice ever 

Genji’s knees feel weak 

They end up talking for hours 

Zenyatta invites him to join the meditation classes that he is teaching 

Genji accepts gladly because he would love to spend more time with him 

Hanzo leaves him there 

One day Tracer was leaving her shift and she spots Widow working 

Hello, there 

She tries to strike up conversation with Widow but Widow isn’t too chatty 

Eventually Widow tells her to either buy something or get out 

Tracer is hurt but leaves 

Reaper watches her go before talking to Widow 

“Wtf man. She was into you.” 

Widow snorts. “I don’t have time to flirt with pretty girls at work.” 

“She gave you her number. You should call her tonight and apologize.” 

Widow looks affronted but does that anyway 

Tracer gladly accepts her apology and they decide to go eat ice cream together 

Mercy and Pharah are already dating 

They visit each other during shifts or during off periods 

Lúcio and Hana manage to hang out too 

One day Zarya walks in 

Looking for a book about healthy eating and exercise

And the nature section is right next to the health section 

So Zarya walks right into Mei 

Zarya automatically thinks that Mei is adorable 

Mei thinks that Zarya looks a little intimidating with her pink hair, tattoos, scar and huge muscles, but she’s really into it 

They start talking 

They both apologize to each other, saying that they can’t speak English too well, and then bond over how English isn’t their first language 

It’s adorable 

They exchange numbers 

Zarya starts attending Mei’s health classes 

Mei starts going to Zarya’s weightlifting shows 

They start dating 

Winston is incredulous because everyone is falling in love in his bookstore how did that happen

Edit: Some people wanted to know about Bastion and Soldier 76. Bastion is that one kid who works there and he’s really young and trying so hard but he doesn’t know what he’s doing so Lúcio and Pharah help him. He also loves to talk to Mei about nature. 

Soldier 76 is an unmarried man who comes in every once and a while to see Hana and McCree and to check up on them (They view him as a father figure. Mercy was a bit concerned at first, but she quickly realized that their relationship was platonic and 76 wasn’t creepy.). He also comes in to flirt with Reaper, who refuses to go out with him, although won’t say why. 76 keeps trying though. 

(Eventually Reaper does say yes, and the night of their date, everyone else attends a wild party to celebrate.)

they’re all in a gang

s76 is the prison warden, but somehow he got pulled into the squad

reaper and widow are ‘agents’ of the other prison gang

reaper got caught for a homicide and dragged widow down with him

junkrat and roadhog are in for… blowing things up. or at least that’s what junkrat says when anyone asks him.

mccree’s in for drunk driving cuz his car flipped over twice on a public road. and also because the judge thought he was annoying

(hanzo was the judge)

zarya and mei are in bc mei enlisted zarya when she wanted to destroy the headquarters of a major oil company cuz mei is really into environmentalist stuff

lucio’s in for helping d.va hack netflix and download all of their content

symmetra… nobody knows what she’s in for. who knows if she’s even supposed to be in jail. but she brings the harry potter movies so it’s cool

tracer’s probably in for peddling sunglasses tbh

pharah and mercy are the tired overworked prison guards who don’t deserve half the shit they go through

like that one time someone (coughs: tracer) decided to hook up her roller skates with a whipped cream can on the end of each one, and went sailing through the halls like an idiot

and the other time a certain cowboy spray-painted an impressively good picture of hanzo on the brand-new wall (junkrat blew the old one up but somehow no one bothered to escape) (actually tracer went out and bought rocky road but she came back) but if you looked at it from a different angle it looked like male genitalia

genji comes sailing in one day

through the ceiling

“hey,” he says, then turns around and walks out the door.

no explanation.

lucio and d.va somehow got their paws on a laptop (read: they bribed tracer to go ‘buy’ one) and hacked the prison database and renamed all the inmates to their ‘proper codenames’

with the exception of tracer, who they renamed ‘widow’s hoe’

which widow laughed about and tracer sulked about for days

she denies it

nobody believes her

but they occasionally get their shit together long enough to have a turf war

somehow they get their hands on real guns

pharah and mercy don’t deserve this

tracer stays on widow the whole time

(literally like she just jumps onto widow’s back and clings. she’s basically a bright orange barnacle)

also no one knows where they get the suits

except tracer

who will not tell a soul unless it’s widow and she bribes her

anyways one day hanzo comes in with genji and he pauses by mccree’s cell.

“mr. jesse mccree.”

“han-han! it’s been too long, buttercup! your ass still sore?”

hanzo very discreetly flips him off, but gestures to pharah to open his cell door.

as soon as he’s out of the cell, he stretches dramatically (the cell is actually bigger than the hallway but mccree’s a hoe) and then flings his arms around hanzo and starts blubbering

“oh, han-han, it was so scary in prison while you were away i missed you my precious han-han-”

“lock him up again.”

ok so widow and tracer have a weird thing going

pharmercy are married

hanzo and mccree banged like once and mccree’s in love and hanzo’s secretly fond annoyed

zarya and mei are dating

they were high school sweethearts and they won homecoming queens

reaper76 is… complicated and angsty

ok so like they met in high school and decided they wanted to make a three-person band with ana

and it was cool and gabriel wore a beanie and he was really cute

and jack had a HUGE crush on him and finally he walked up to gabriel one day and he just sort of blurted out ‘i’m in love with you’ and then started stammering incoherently and then gabriel gave him that trademark cute little smile and slid one hand to jack’s neck, fingers tangling in his (long cuz he’s a nerd) blonde hair, and kissed him, and whispered ‘me too’ and jack died.

but they dated through college until they graduated and moved in together in new jersey and jack had a little black box in his pocket, with a diamond ring inside

and then gabriel got involved with some bad people

a ruthless head of a drug cartel who always hated jack’s father, and therefore jack as well

he blackmailed gabriel into having sex with him and jack walked in on them

he blinked twice and then reached into his pocket, pulled out the black box, and tossed it on the floor.

then he turned around and walked away.

he started drinking. heavily.

they had sort of lost touch with ana, but when she heard, she showed up at jack’s door and talked to him for an entire night.

gabriel was in an even worse place. he started doing drugs, cocaine and heroin and meth. he met widow on the new york streets and eventually, he shot a man and ended up in prison. he went through rehab.

but when jack saw him for the first time, he felt like he’d been stabbed

gabriel was as beautiful as ever, dark skin and dark hair and dark eyes and a lovely smile

and jack was old and tired and he had cut his hair because it reminded him of how gabriel loved to run his hands through it

but gabriel looked right at him with wide eyes and said in an awed whisper ‘you’re so beautiful’

and one day they sat down and talked

and talked

and then, ten months later, gabriel leans down very slowly, looks in jack’s eyes, and gently kisses him

and tracer ruins the moment by sprinting in with flowers and throwing them

but gabriel laughs and dips him

and everything is good again

We have bg3 characters called Krusty korter and I had them made in veilguard too so that’s who it is

Writing Trans Characters

DO:

1. Treat them like regular people, like actual human beings, because they are people, not just trans

2. Mention they’re trans at some point, because proper representation is important- it doesn’t have to be a huge reveal, it can just be one sentence, it can be totally offhand

3. Be confident about including trans characters in any setting- there have been trans people since there has been gender, there’s no context in which their presence makes no sense

4. Research things like binders and tucking and hormone therapy if you don’t know anything about them

DON’T:

1. Do that thing where a character’s like “I was Steve… But now call me… Stevette”

2. Include a trans character simply for the purpose of fetishisation

3. Feature unsafe practices like binding with bandages unless it’s really crucial to the plot, somehow

4. Use the phrase “trapped in the wrong body” or outdated terminology like “transsexual”- all of which can be easily researched- because like, honestly, it’s just not correct

I got ea access so I get to play Mass Effect Andromeda a week earlier for 10 hours. But I have school, better get my sleep in now so I'm rested for the night.

Forgive me I'm gonna get kinda emotional in this one, I'm even putting it on the main blog to make this a human moment you get what I'm saying

To start this off as a cliche, ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a writer.

Like that was my dream job because I loved reading so much and it was such a helpful escape from my p shit home life and I wanted to write my own story to escape into. I wrote in notebooks, I wrote on sticky notes, like anything and everything I was writing on.

I was pretty ruthlessly bullied all of my time in school and one of the major targets was my writing. I was the cliche teachers pet who liked to write and read so I was a easy target. It discouraged me a lot and eventually, I just stopped.

When I got to high school I started to write fanfiction because I loved reading it so much, it gave me that same feeling I used to have as a kid reading all the books I loved. I didn't post much, my magnum opus in numbers is actually a Fallout 3 fanfiction I wrote my senior year into my first year of college lol but I was writing and I was happy.

Then I got to college and I struggled a lot. I was the most depressed I had ever been in my entire life up to that point, I was in a place that was not accepting of me being transgender, I had a terrible "boyfriend" who crossed so many boundaries, I didn't have good friends, i was in a career path I didn't want to do and I had had my top surgery basically taken away from me because I got pneumonia, which I was hospitalized for and had to take the time I was supposed to have off recovering from surgery to recover from that and just so much shit.

I tried to write again but I couldn't and then some "friends" of mine how find my writing and bullied me for it so bad I had deleted so much stuff I wish I still had out of embarrassment. I mean at least over 100 works, gone. I hate that I did that so much.

Then years went by and beyond docs with not even a 100 words on it, I didn't write extensively.

Then BG3 came out and I was so full of lore for my character I just had to write it. I was going through what would be the worst phase of my life and mental health ever and I could find no outlet beyond BG3 and it was starting to drive me a little crazy so I tried my hand at writing again. I made my older sibling cry with what I had written, I had people messaging me telling me how they were crying over my character I had written and I thought, maybe I can do this.

Than life got shit again and I didn't write lol.

Till god damn Veilguard and bioware once again caught me in their clutches and I started to write again.

I dusted off the old tumblr I had made in highschool, revamped it and posted and my god the response was so incredibly sweet.

Ever since then, I have received nothing but love and just the most incredible kind things said to me about my writing and my characters. How people love them, how people want more of them and how they like the way I write.

I always wanted to be a writer and I am one now, and I just want to thank you all for that <3
