The appalling travesty that was BBC’s Sherlock has infested the Sherlock Holmes fandom like a malignant tumour so I want you all to know how awesome the OG literary Holmes was:

The literary Sherlock Holmes was an autistic coded character before people knew what autism was.

The literary Sherlock Holmes was an explicitly aromantic character before people had a word for that.

Literary Holmes solved mysteries not merely for the intellectual stimulation but also out of a genuine desire to do good. He cared deeply about every client. HE WAS NOT A HIGH-FUNCTIONING SOCIOPATH! He could definitely be insensitive and blunt but he was not callous or unfeeling.

Literary Sherlock threatened to beat a guy who was being creepy with his own stepdaughter.

Literary Sherlock learned to grow past his misogyny after a woman outsmarted him.

In particular, he was always respectful to Mrs Hudson, never belittling or talking down to her (the otherwise enjoyable Guy Ritchie films screw this up too). In fact, they got along so well that they were actually a very popular ship back in the day.

Literary Holmes would NEVER call Watson an idiot. He was his only friend who he loved and respected, even if he did get frustrated with him sometimes. He didn’t need to belittle others to feel powerful.

Literary Holmes and Watson broke into a corrupt man’s house and witnessed him being murdered by a woman he was blackmailing. They knew exactly who she was but they let her get away because they were chaotic good like that.

Literary Holmes had HUMILITY: something a smug prig like Steven Moffat will never understand. He could be arrogant but he had a sense of humour and was willing to admit when he was wrong. And he was wrong sometimes because he was a flawed human being, not some gross male power fantasy.

Literary Holmes respected the working class and was often disdainful of the rich. In Victorian England!

Literary Holmes indirectly caused the death of a guy who abused (and implicitly molested) his daughters and he didn’t give a single fuck about it.

At the end of the series, Holmes retires to Sussex to keep bees. Beekeepers are awesome.

It’s honestly kind of shocking just HOW badly HBO Max fucked up. They have a ton of content, old and new, that is genuinely great, and from what I know a lot of their digital-only releases have been pretty popular. ESPECIALLY the animated stuff. Literally the only, ONLY things they could’ve done to mess up were A) cancel the new original stuff everyone was excited about, and B) just give up on the platform. And they did both, back to back, just because of one (1) CEO change and the decision to merge with Discovery. Which, btw, has a significantly less popular user base than HBO Max. Like, Disney owns both Disney Plus and Hulu, evil as that is, but they haven’t merged them for a reason: they have two entirely different user bases. And they wouldn’t dare get rid of one or the other, especially the more popular one. Why the HELL would anyone in their right mind get rid of their wildly popular streaming service and transfer it over to another one that most people have never even heard of???? Oh yeah, because girls are too dumb to like animation or scripted content (which hasn’t been true in the history of forever), so if we’re going to go to Discovery, we gotta get rid of all the popular, scripted shows. Plus the female lead superhero movie that could’ve printed money, just to be safe. And a bunch of animated content that isn’t even targeted towards girls. I think doing nothing at all for a year straight would have been better than literally every decision Warner Brothers has made this past month…

They are pulling Infinity Train ENTIRELY from HBO Max, along with more than 20 shows and movies (predominantly animation) as early as this week so if you’ve never watched this brilliant, groundbreaking series now may be your only chance until it disappears from streaming. Forever.

They will not be returning to the new merger app between Discovery and WB at all. They are GONE.

That tweet is from the creator of Summer Camp Island, who apparently learned about this decision from a fucking news article. David Zaszlav doesn’t see “kids’ programming” (read: the entire animation industry) as a viable pathway for his new app, so prepare for more cancellations. I would not be surprised if Craig of the Creek, Primal, Young Justice, or any other shows from Cartoon Network or Max Originals are suddenly axed from streaming this year. Absolutely infuriating and unjust for anyone that champions the artistry and importance of animation as a medium to tell stories. I am furious.

Make some noise about this on Twitter if you can, many folks in the animation industry are understandably furious and terrified for their careers.
