I am motaz Mohammed , 22 yrs , a Palestinian youngman, from Gaza, seeking to save my 20 _ member family from the hell of the war by moving to a safe place till the gruesome war ends.
Our suffering and hardship started on 14th October, 2023 when my family was forcibly displaced from the north to the south under a life-threatening situation. As a result, our houses were completely destroyed and demolished, and our business accordingly went with the wind. Nothing has been left to be a source of livelihood. No shelters to house us nor a livelihood source to live on.
We have been living miserably in tents since the early days of the war. Life had become very hard and tough. No means of life still exists. Getting the least level of life is now hard and impossible. All our hope is to secure the daily basic necessities but this seems more often impossible that is why we are suffering the hardship of life. You can't imagine how hard it is to get food, drink water, medicine and other facilities. Life has become dire and sad in addition to the hot weather inside the hot tents that adds to our pain and unbelievable sufferings. Words can't show the miserable situations and circumstances we are experiencing nowadays due to the unfair war.
A part of our daily sufferings to get the least of what we need. Imagine how you feel when you wait for at least four hours in queue .Things are the worst one has ever
experienced. That is why I am asking for you generous contribution to help me secure the least of what we daily need and to find safety and peace for the twenty-member family who are now tasting all forms of torture and sorrow.
Every day we wake up to find things move from bad to worse. No sign is there for the war to end and this add to our unhappiness and miserable life. Despair and hopelessness have become new forms of our life as we are now homeless , displaced and jobless.

Since the outbreak of the war, we have been forcibly displaced to the south of Gaza, in the hope of finding a safer place, but the fact is that there is no safe place in Gaza. After we had lost all our possessions and belongings like our house and our livelihood_ source business were destroyed and damaged 💔 due to the annihilation of our neighborhood.
This photo was taken to the remains and ruins of our house. Nothing has been left for my family to live in nor a source to live on. Now we are living in small tents ⛺ in streets lacking all means of a house.
We re leading unbelievably difficult circumstances due to this injust war on Gaza. Also, We are painfully suffering from the bad living conditions because we lack all necessities and essentials of our daily life. Food, clean drink water, medicine 💊, health care , and other necessities have become scarce and unattainable and this adds to our sufferings and hardship.

Respiratory crises are becoming more frequent.
I need medication for life to prevent my lungs from collapsing, this implies permanent treatment with steroids, oxygen therapy, control of oxygen in the blood and antibiotics to prevent the development of bacteria in the lungs.

Since the beginning of the last war in Gaza, my home has been partially destroyed, forcing us to move. We had to move more than ten times to find safety. During this harrowing journey, we faced extreme hunger and malnutrition that almost claimed the lives of me and my children. In addition, we have been exposed to many serious infectious diseases and epidemics.
Unbearable hardships
I have to travel long distances just to get water, and stand in line for hours to get food. My mental health and the health of my children deteriorated due to the war. My children’s education was interrupted and they suffered from catastrophic hunger that almost claimed their lives.

The right to a peaceful life
My children deserve to live a peaceful life free of fear and anxiety.

i love the way Lancali uses personification throughout the book. Not only does it add some awesome imagery, but also because it TIES SO WELL WHEN YOU REALIZE WHO SAM IS AS A CHARACTER!
Sam, who holds no gender or name, comes to people in the form others need them to be. watching in the background as people suffered, people being hit with that feeling that they met before. Sam is a personification of hope.
time, death, and disease are things intangible, but are personified by the characters who defy these notions, taking back a life that was stolen from them.
and i absolutely love how the original Sam, boy Sam, also played around with this personification. in one of the chapters, we see him greeting every inanimate object as if it was alive, greeting the wall, greeting a door, playing pretend. it’s only when he gives narrator Sam a name that brings them to life
so far, this book has been really cool! i love the character interactions, the author’s writing is absolutely beautiful, you can tell there is genuine emotion behind every page and that just makes me more sad
every time i end a chapter my mind is like “oh yeah, that’s a good place to end off.” only to remember THERES STILL MORE😭
this book has me in a chokehold to the point i’m scared to see how it goes, because apparently the characters DIE? (is this what i get for spoiling myself by watching the author’s tiktok’s?)
