tbf all my knowledge of volleyball is from haikyuu + the 2 olympic matches ive seen so. but anyway im kinda obsessed with this (it was between volleyball/soccer)

i wanna add more characters but idk how they would fit!!! i guess the trojans are a different team? and are the greek gods their coaches?

athena as the coach for the boys team - 100% trying to get ody and dio to play professionally

ares as the coach for the girls team

hermes is like the supervisor but he dgaf lowkey he just watches for the thrill and the drama (LOVES doing the cheers)

maybe poseidon as the coach for a diff team, would def still have beef with ody somehow #trust

One piece is a reimagining of the Odyssey but kind of in reverse.

Each member of the strawhat crew reflects different aspects of Odysseus, Luffy is his trickster nature, Zorro is the blood lust, Nami is sailing prowess, Robin is the strategist, Franky is his ingenuity, Chopper is his empathy, Brook is his determination, and Jinbe is his wisdom.

I wanna say Enel is Posideon, Shanks is Athena, Emu is Zeus, and Law is Hermes.

Going in to what I ment by one piece being the odyssey in reverse:

There are some story beats that match up in reverse like starting the series with Luffy on a raft that gets sunk in a whirlpool like how Odysseus took on Charybdis.

Chat hear me out: Jorge of Ithaca AU

An epic AU where Jorge is the reincarnation of Odysseus, it'd explain the changes in the musical! Odysseus in the Odyssey may not have seen Calypso as... well, THAT. So, he'd (subconciously) write Calypso as a better character.

In the Original Odyssey, Odysseus barely manages to evade Poseidon when he gets back to Ithaca. So Jorge would subconsciously change it to make Odysseus look more glorious than he actually was during that fight.

Odysseus still saw Eurylochus as a friend - even though in The Odyssey, Eury was WAYYYY worse - so, he'd write Eurylochus as someone kinder. The Eurylochus Odysseus saw deep down. The part that cared.

It'd also make for an interesting rp blog

Jorge's just randomly walking during his trip to Ithaca and spots who he THINKS is one of his friends and it's actually the actual character 💀
