Fic idea
Post-Shirakumo's death where Aizawa and Yamada have not had the best communication, often relying the other to fill in the gaps (which they are both pretty good at but that still doesn't substitute actual emotional release). That is, until they both get hit with a quirk where they swap nightmares for a night and get to dream the others' greatest fear. Yamada has Aizawa's nightmare and, as he suspects, it revolves around the incident that killed Shirakumo. But much to his surprise it isn't Shirakumo that's getting crushed by a building. No. It's Yamada, current Yamada as in they are currently in their 20s, being crushed by a building and Aizawa being unable to save him. The rest of the dream is Aizawa just frozen in place, not knowing what to do. Even when people tell him what to do, he's still frozen. Yamada realizes that Aizawa hates himself for not saving Shirakumo, but his greatest fear is it happening again and him not having grown enough to stop it from taking Yamada. Aizawa's greatest fear is outliving Yamada.
Meanwhile, Aizawa dreams Yamada's greatest fear, which is how he finds himself starring at his own grave, as well as Kayama's and Shirakumo's. But that's not what sticks out to him. What it's really disturbing is that the entire world is on mute. It's not what he expected from a Yamada-dream. He'd always expected them to he loud and colorful. Even a nightmare might at least have a bug or two. But Yamada's nightmare is dull, mundane, and disturbingly silent as he does the most normal things (radiostation, coffee, patrol). Theres not even background noise. But in the end, instead heading home, he heads back to the graves and sits in front of them. Complete silence. Aizawa realizes that Yamada expects to outlive all of his friends, but his greatest fear is the empty feeling he'll inevitable stuck with when they're gone.

BYE THIS IS PAINFULLY ACCURATE-
You can not convince me that this isn’t a young Present Mic.
Villain Aizawa
I'm having a terrible art day today, sorry. I swear I'll draw something cool soon
Okay but what if we changed this a bit to match Mics "person vs persona" debate.
This would give an explanation as to why Oboro didn't acknowledge Mic, because he didn't recognise him.
Here when Hizashi comes to him, at his lowest, at his most vulnerable. When pure green meet yellow. That's when Oboro realizes-
He didn't recognise Present Mic.
But he knows Hizashi Yamada is one of his best friends.
Present Mic goes to visit Kurogiri/Shirakumo after the war arc, alone, because Aizawa is still in hospital. He doesn’t put his hero costume on, firstly because he’s just plain exhausted and tired of dressing up, secondly he knows this is Shirakumo and he wants his friend to see him, Hizashi, this time. Mic is quiet for a while, and then just whispers, “She’s dead. She’s gone.” He looks up at the window and says louder, “Kayama’s dead! She’s dead! Aizawa’s in the hospital, with only one leg and one eye. Please tell me that means something to you!” He jumps out of his chair, knocking it over in his haste, and approaches the window, ignoring the voices over the intercom warning him to keep his distance. “Kayama’s dead!” He shouts, quirk activating and shaking the whole room. “Aizawa was nearly killed too. And I was nowhere near! I couldn’t do anything to help them, Oboro, nothing.” He leans forward, resting his forehead against the glass, and closes his eyes. Silver tear tracks shimmer down his cheeks. “Come back to us, Oboro, please,” he whispers. “I need you to come back. I can’t do this alone.” Inside the cell, the black mist begins to wobble.
TW Self-harm, mentioning suicide. Manga spoilers too!
I’ve thought about the last idea a lot and Im gonna sAY SOME CAUSE I CANT HELP MYSELF!
One of my favourite Aizawa lines in the show has got to be when he outlines that there is a clear difference between self-sacrifice and suicide. The show already uses the two of them to outline differences and Aizawa’s already sacrificed so much so like chile-
SECONDLY! So we’re all in agreement that Hizashi is going through survivors guilt, even moreso considering the lack of injuries he sustained in the war arc. Going back to one of my HCs Hizashi starts to try to make up for the lack of pain he felt and put onto others. It just looks like he's become more reckless when he’s really just- harming himself on purpose while fighting but it doesn’t look suspicious to the outside cause he's a hero. It’s considered brave. The perfect outlet for him to keep his slipping mask of a persona on while he continues to shatter! And people are celebrating it, cause they don’t know, which only breaks him further. Course Aizawa notices but it’s the usual excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse
Absolute bangers and I’m in tears :D!
Things I might draw nebulous things for in the future but need to say out loud before I blow up
-shōta often has that air around hizashi where he’s like “god he’s loud. Wish he’d be more quiet” and hizashi just brushes it off. but after the whole recent fiasco, when shōta says those things, hizashi actually just stops talking for a while. And shōta is starting to get really worried about it.
-hizashi becoming much more protective to the point of it being self destructive. He slips into a “no more harm is going to come to the people I love no matter what” and you know I’m a sucker for “zashi gets seriously hurt trying to protect shō” content lol
Why wasn't I posting for a week? It's cause I was doing this.
