Jason entered the palace just as Damian was playing with blocks. When the toddler spotted his big brother, his face lit up.
Toddler Damian (jumping to his feet): Akh Jason! You're back!
Damian ran with his little legs, and Jason couldn't help but smile at the sight. Talia didn't have enough time to stop him as the little boy spread his arms wide, eager for a hug.
Toddler Damian (running towards Jason): Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Lift me!
Damian bounced up and down, waiting to be picked up. Talia and Ra's watched from a distance—Ra's with a look of disgust, while Talia simpered and sniffled with a smile at how cute her precious tifl was.
Jason: Magic word.
Damian (in a high-pitched voice): Please!
Talia (shaking her father): He said please! So precious!
Ra's (stepping away): Stop shaking me!
Jason placed his hands on his hips and chuckled before lifting Damian into the air, ruffling his hair affectionately.
Damian (eagerly): Hi, did you miss me? Did you miss me?!
Jason (lying): Hm... No.
Despite Jason's teasing, Damian giggled and hugged him tightly. Ra's attempted to speak, but Talia silenced him with a sharp jab to his neck, causing him to cough.
Damian: Did you bring me a gift?
Jason: I got some gifts for you, but I might need to rest—
Damian (high-pitched voice): Wait, wait! I want gifts... Please?
Ra's sucked his teeth at the emphasis on "please." Talia fought to suppress a smile as Jason walked off with Damian, patiently answering his many questions about America.
Jason: You're lucky you're so convincing.
Damian: Yeah!
Bruce doesn’t often give out hugs because they are the most powerful device in all of the dc universe.
One hug from this mammoth of a man will have you feeling the most comfort you’ve ever felt in your entire life. He’s bigger than most people so it completely engulfs you, it’s warm, and he squeezes everyone the right amount.
He’s got the art of hugging down to a science and he doesn’t even know it. All of his kids are too stubborn to ask for a hug and whenever he gives them out spontaneously they go silent in his hold, making him think that he’s bad at giving them.
It’s truly a powerful weapon.
The batkids also don’t ask for hugs often cause if they did they would always forgive Bruce. They wanna stay angry just a while longer.
Yeah that makes sense now that I think about it. Toothless DID seem pretty surprised about the Red Death.
Rewatching httyd and I think I’m realizing something about Nightfuries.
So, Toothless spits up half the fish that Hiccup gave him. A kind of act of goodwill to reciprocate Hiccup’s. He does it again later after Test Drive.
It’s not something other dragons do when say, feeding the queen, because a Gronkle does the same and gets eaten. Sure, it could just be that it wasn’t enough for the queen, but we also know something about Nightfuries.
They don’t take food. It’s in the opening dialogue about them.
If a Nightfury took nothing back to the queen, I’m sure they’d be eaten too. But Toothless shows up, somewhat late, with the first pack of dragons that attack the village.
I think he followed the dragons because they were flying somewhere together, not because he was under orders from the queen.
So I think Nightfuries are meant to be pack hunters. They work together and feed each other.
He bonds to Hiccup very fast, and even when he could kill Hiccup, he doesn’t. Like when Hiccup lets him go. Like the very first flight when Hiccup attaches just the tail fin.
And sure, we know that dragons can tell when you mean harm and have weapons, but the Monstrous Nightmare still almost killed Hiccup in the beginning despite being unarmed.
Anyways, based on this evidence, I think Nightfuries are meant to be pack hunters, and the fact they are solitary is a tragedy. They’ve been wiped out that it changes their entire ability to exist with other dragons.
(And for the little dragons that come and steal his food, they’re not part of his pack. That’s why he defends his food. It’s like a lion protecting food from hyenas.)
Edit: OH, AND it’s a great reason why he’s so adept at enforcing boundaries and keeping the peace between pack members. It’s innate. Like wolves, they have to manage everyone’s emotions and actively try to avoid fights and de-escalate.
Superman is asked in an interview if he walks around without his costume in the streets, he says yes, that he has perfected the way to disguise has a regular human, they ask for an example of one of his costumes so he grabs a black jacket and puts it on before slouching, warping himself in his cape and using his fingers to make little ears*
Superman (in grave voice): "I'm the night. *stretching the i* people think I live in the shadows, but I'M the shadows. I'm Batman *this continues for a couple of minutes, after that, the interview ends without problems*
...
Next morning all signs of Superman in Metropolis have been vandalized, either by painting bats as moustaches or by painting Batman's suit and cowl over Clark's faces
Later, he realizes all his suits have been replaced with Bat-suits bought from a Halloween costume shop, the Planet's windows were covered with photos of Batman and his kids wearing the suits they stole (plus masks), the internet is full of Superman memes and there's a viral video of Batman seemingly flying like Superman, in Superman's suit, while still wearing the Bat-cowl, only for the image to pull back and show Batman strapped to the Bat-mobile's roof, that's being driven by Spoiler, who is cackling like an Arkham inmate.
JJ/Tim probably can’t go do anything related to the joker because he’d probably still have guilt because his brain thinks joker is still his dad, but also because joker would be a huge tigger to Tim.
The other bats probably weren’t told anything on why Tim doesn’t deal with the joker babs and Bruce just told them straight up that Tim doesn’t deal with joker and that was that
Sometimes when Tim is like having an emotional breakdown he wants his dad just to be faced with the fact that his dad is joker and probably not someone he should go to when emotional
To add on, Tim gets confused about who his dad is. Is it Jack? Bruce? Joker?
He misses his dad, but from a combination of the torture, brainwashing, and multiple father figures, he can't tell exactly whonhis actual dad is. Joker tried to overwrite himself as Tim's dad instead of Jack, so Tim has a hard time grasping that he could have three father figures instead of one (not that said father figures were good, but that's the role they played in his life at some point [willingly or not]).
Tim ends up missing his dad, but not knowing who his dad actually is. This is similar to people who have homesickness but don't know where "home" is.
If you're doing a JJ AU (combining JJ with other timelines/canon events or even just forgaging canon for its parts), you could play around with these dynamics.
Is Bruce a good dad but Tim, in his confusion with Joker, doesn't truly trust him?
Are Bruce and Jack horrible fathers? Does this make Tim have three fathers who have all hurt or failed him?
Does Tim get the JJ treatment before or after he becomes Robin?
Does Bruce know (like in the OG story), or does Tim keep it hidden from even him?
JJ is such a cool (and angsty) premise.
Batman has a very specific code that's on everyone's communicator that he warns the JL to 'Never tap into it unless I'm indisposed and the world is 2 seconds away from ending'
Fast forward a few years and batman is knocked out cold and the world is 2 seconds away from ending when one JL member rmbers batman's 'very important do not tap unless absolutely necessary' button
So obviously the JL taps it expecting some god or smth and who else picks up but a woman who's simultaneously yelling commands, tapping aggressively at what they assume to be a keyboard and calmly telling them that she's Oracle, that she's already linked every person on the battlefield's comms to the 'batfamily comms'(direct wording) and that she's sending reinforcements as they speak
Then, while the JL is still in shock,Red Hood the fucking drug lord lands beside them and starts shooting up enemies,Nightwing is futher back backflipping,Red Robin is doing his shit
A mysterious black cowled girl pops up beside them and starts gently telling(ordering) them to specific parts of the battlefield(Hal gets so spooked he screams),a fully purple girl is beating enemies up next to them,a guy in neon yellow is punting enemies to the ground.
And some random ass 10 y/o is screaming bloody murder as he incapcitates enemies thrice his size
Edit: in case people don't see my reblog about it,i've been seeing a bunch of reblogs/comments about seeing this post on tiktok, tiktok is banned where I'm at so it's definitely not me,so do me a favor and report them thank you ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )

Headcanon that Jim Gordon used to think Dick’s real name was just Robin. It’s not an unusual name honestly, and there’s nothing particularly bird about his outfit, so Gordon thought nothing more about it when they first met.
Gordon: “Uh, kid, this is a crime scene-“
Dick, hands on his hips (and no pants):“My name is Robin!”
Gordon catches Batman’s frown and assumes it’s because Robin isn’t being careful enough about his name.
But time goes on and no one finds out where the kid lives, so Gordon lets it slide. He’s a cute kid, if a little intense, but it’s fun to watch him grow up with Barbara (yes, he knows about batgirl. Yes, he chewed Batman out for it but decided to ultimately ignore it like everything else).
But then a new Robin comes in. This is a kid again, not a full adult like he was a year ago.
Gordon: “Hey, Batman? What happened to Robin?”
Batman: “This is Robin.” He sounds so unbothered, like he doesn’t realize this is a completely different kid!
Gordon’s concern for this half-mad vigilante skyrockets. Batman has convinced himself that this kid is the same as the first. He’s going through it and the mental gymnastics are more than Gordon can take.
So, he lets it go.
But then that Robin disappears and Batman’s acting up. Nightwing shows up a few times and it never really helps things. Gordon’s getting more headaches than smoke breaks and at this point, he’s really to pull the plug on this whole bat business.
But then Robin comes back again and Gordon’s has it. He confronts this kid, fully prepared to push through whatever gaslighting’s been happening, only for Tim to look at him like he’s stupid.
Gordon: “Kid, who are you really? Because the Robin I met graduated collage years ago and the one after that is dead!”
Tim, with the most judge mental look physically possible: “Commissioner…Robin’s my hero name.”
Gordon: “…Your hero name?”
Tim: “Yeah. I’m Robin, like the bird. Batman and Robin. Heroes. Why would I go around using my real name? That would be stupid and dangerous.”
And Gordon has to call off for the rest of the day, he’s so pissed.
Yea im gonna throw up thought of this scene instantly
I was reading a reddit post about a guy who stole his friend’s cat because the friend was abusing it and just sneaking off with the cat in a bag one night, and now I’m thinking about a Batfamily who keeps “kidnapping” random cats while on patrol/cases and then coming back to the Cave with an irate cat wrapped up in their belt’s emergency blanket, hissing and biting and trying to kill everyone (even Damian the animal whisperer) which is a long way of saying Bruce has to make some mildly awkward calls to Selina at least a couple times a month. Selina, for her part, looks forward to coming over and scooping up the kitties and lecturing whichever kid was responsible this time for being “so rough” to her “little angel” (there is no way to kidnap an abused cat quickly, quietly, AND gently, but they don’t need to know that) (Selina is secretly very grateful they have a policy to do this and she thinks it makes Bruce seem pretty DILFy)
Imagine:
The JJ incident happens after Bruce disappears into the time stream, and before Tim gets kicked from Robin. Due to dick being spread so thin and Tim(Headcannon) Being antisocial and disappearing for days on end due to being used to solitude, this sudden disappearance goes overlooked until the joker starts jeering at batman any time he sees him, making jokes about how his new son is better now that that Robin mentality has been removed. Dick panics, searches high and low through Tim's normal hiding spots and finds nothing. Instead of Harley having taken Tim in this au I like the idea that she had left the joker when Tim first became Robin though the joker kidnaps her and manipulated/brainwashes her while he's ruining Tim too. Tim kills the joker like usual but he also throws Harley into a rehab center, before dick can talk to Tim he runs off to find Bruce.
Ooooooooh!
The best part about this is that Tim chucks Harley into a rehab center before diping. He's all like, "Damn. That was traumatic. You'll definitely need some help with that. Not me, though."
He can't even glance at himself in the mirror now, but he's fine. He's gotta go pick up Bruce from the timestream daycare.
There is one plot hole, though. Does Joker taunt Dick, Tim kills Joker, Tim leaves, and then Dick searches for Tim?
That'd be hella interesting.
Also, since JJ is so fresh, what if Ra's dunked Tim in the slime juice? Would Tim's mind just shatter?
Poor Tim. He's grieving the loss of 1.7 dads (Bruce isn't actually dead, and Joker isn't technically his dad either), maybe was told he's losing it by Dick before Joker forces him to actually lose it, and has the guilt/relief of killing Joker on his hands.
I would be interested in seeing Tim trying to cope with JJ as he travels. He sees JJ transposed over his image in reflections out of the corner of his eye. He hears the sound of electricity when he tries to sleep. Laughter echoes in museums and the cave. No matter what disguise he wears, it's difficult to stop smiling. The smell of face paint and bleach is ever present.
Anyways, I'd so be down to read a fic about JJ: Red Robim edition.
I had an idea the other day of Nightwing and Redhood getting de-aged to their Robin ages (so both robin)& Bruce taking them to the watchtower because he can't leave them at home lmao- not sure what you'd do with that idea but tis simply something I thought about
okay so because I absolutely adore this but also have someplace to be rn, its gonna be a timed write(ugh back to my english class days) and imma write this is eight minutes so no promises actually this might be really bad but here we go
Bruce didn't know exactly how it had happened. He had just... woken up. And boom there were two small, tiny little robins in his bed, curled against his side like back when they were younger. Dick's hair was silky soft as he ran his hand through it, and Jason was so small, his little head pressed against Bruce's chest. Then they woke up.
"Who is that." Dick's voice was flat. Hard. Bruce bit back a sigh. "Dickie, this is Jason. Your brother." "No he's not." Dick wasn't budging. Bruce fought his huff of annoyance. "Chum, you have to accept that he is your brother. I've already explained it to you. Try to be nice. Please?" Dick glowered at Jason, the other boy unaware as he munched his cereal on Bruce's other side, a book in his other hand.
Bruce smiled fondly and ran a hand through Jason's hair, pressing a kiss to his head. Jason smiled automatically at the gesture, though his eyes didn't leave the page. Bruce realized his mistake a second too late and quickly nudged the kitchen knives away before Dick could reach for them. He tugged his oldest son into his lap instead, despite the boys protests, and rained kisses onto him as an apology.
Dick was laughing by the time he finished, and even ate his breakfast quietly, sitting right next to Jason, and didn't try any physical violence. Bruce wasn't close to enough to hear if any emotional violence had been implemented though, having stood to clean the dishes. His phone vibrated, and he sighed as he spotted the call from Hal. League meeting. Right.
Bruce glanced at the two boys sitting at the table. Dick had stolen Jason's book and was in the process of pretending to pour orange juice over it, while Jason screamed, a butter knife in one hand. Yeah... he could not leave them home alone.
"Is that-?" "are those-?" The whispers started the second he breached the Watchtower, and the way they quickly silenced revealed that they had been happening the whole ride up the elevator. "Stay close to me boys." he murmured. Jason immediately latched to his leg, eyeing the heroes they passed warily. Dick, on the other hand, skipped ahead, until he realized that put him at a greater distance away from his dad than the "replacement" as he had called Jason. Then he did two flips and jumped onto Bruce's shoulders.
Bruce sighed. "Chum, play nice." Dick stuck his tongue out as Bruce settled into his chair, pulling Jason up to sit on his lap as Dick remained on his shoulders. The League blinked at him owlishly. Dick hissed. Jason smiled shyly. "They were hit with a de-aging spell." Bruce answered apologetically with a wince. "Sorry, I can't leave them home alone or one of them will kill the other."
Barry chuckled. "Yeah. Don't worry B, we get it. Red Hood is damn scary." "Poor Nightwing." Dinah murmured. Bruce snorted. "Oh, no no no. Night would be the one doing the murdering." He chuckled, pointing to the child sitting on his head. "Its little Hood I'm worried for."
