First piece submitted for me this year! I wanted to do Debmund piece with the pair cosplaying as other pairs, whether canon or not that inspired them. I do feel while I most likely have some that are left out whether intentionally or not, these are the ones I feel had the most important impact on the process I had with these characters. My intent was to one, have fun with the cosplay aspect of it and two, to provide something to the people that like my character. I want to make a fanfiction with my character in it someday and finally provide closure for some people. Until then though, this is just something to show my thought process as I developed the ship in my headspace over the years. I also finally have closure on making Harold and Rhonda as Ares and Aphrodite! Woo, that was a clear connection that I wanted to do for so long. I’ve been wanting to post the fan character of mine for a while on here. However, I wanted to wait until I had somewhat of a proper profile for this character so people would know what purpose she serves in my headcanon of the HA! universe. So anyway, Here’s what I have for her profile so far. I most likely will edit this profile slightly every now and then if I notice I forgot something or made a typo. Either way, this is what I have so far.

Name: Debora Winifred Blaney

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Straight

Birth Date: November 24th, 1987

Eye Color: Greenish blue

Height: I suppose around the height of Helga, but I can’t be too sure because we don’t have canon heights for these kids. I have so far 4’7 for 9, 4′8 for 11, 5′ for 12, 5′3 for 15, 5’4 ½  for 17 and onward. I just went with my heights throughout my life. I only hope one day somebody can measure and headcanon the heights of Arnold and the gang.

Bio: Debora was a small-town girl from Tennessee that moved to Hillwood at the age of 5. She had no real ties to the place though except for her love the starry skies and all the wildflowers that grew there. Her parents decided to homeschool her at the age of 4 due to her being bullied for being different and annoying in preschool. For example, her last encounter with the group of kids that bullied her; chased her until she tripped, pinned her down, and pretended they were going to beat her with a big stick just to scare her. She doesn’t meet Arnold and the gang until the age of 11. Before that, she watched them from a distance behind her home window. However, their first, true encounter didn’t work out because Debora couldn’t take being laughed at due to a stimming incident reminiscent of the head hitting that Arnold did in his “I’m Crazy” number, only no music this time. Arnold tried to convince her that his friends were sorry and that they didn’t mean to make her sad. Debora was too afraid to try again though. Debora’s mother had her join the Campfire Lasses for a while to help with her social skills. She still kept tabs with Arnold through letters. She appeared to be making progress and had slightly better control of herself. Her birthday of 2001 however, something happened that made Debora question if she was even good enough to be friends with anybody. Would she always be too weird for people that they will never accept all of her, especially the ugly parts? She quit the Campfire Lasses at age 14; her heart just wasn’t in it anymore.

However, at the age of 15, due to events beyond her control, she had to go to public school so she can be accepted to colleges around Hillwood for they did not accept homeschoolers. Lucky for her, the school she could go to was PS118. Unlucky for her, Arnold wasn’t around to help her fit in with the sophomore class. With no one to help her fit in, she decides it would be best to just not to try at all. She’ll be polite in any way she can in hopes that people will notice her kindness, but she will not make the first move. She’s tired of being betrayed by people that claim that they want to be friends with her only to be abandoned the next day. Although, deep down she knew that this method wouldn’t work and people would be too caught up in their own groups to notice her. Besides, she needed all that time to work on her homework anyway.

However, due to some weird twist of fate, Debora somehow finds herself interacting with Edmund of all people at a party she didn’t even want to go to that Rhonda gave her an invitation to. Rhonda clearly only gave her it because Debora was a part of her class, just a plain, obligatory, pity invitation. To makes things weirder, Debora somehow can empathize with Edmund and his relationship with Wolfgang. Debora has spent so much of her life isolating herself because she never wanted to be hurt again by abusive people like Wolfgang. That time in preschool was still a trauma that she carries to this day. It was her first glimpse of reality that she was different from other kids and that people fear or hate things they can’t understand.

For one reason or another, Edmund the abused loser and Debora the lonely loser found comfort in each other and decided it might be nice if they hung out a bit more. Thus leads Debora and Edmund’s unlikely friendship having everybody around them confused, especially Wolfgang. Surely a girl that genuinely likes Edmund has to have something wrong with her. This leads to the butterfly effect of Wolfgang finding out Debora has Asperger’s syndrome, him exposing that information to the students of PS118, Debora having a break down in the supply closest, Edmund and Wolfgang’s falling out, Helga of all people come to give what Debora needs to hear in her time of need, Helga gaining a renewed purpose in an attempt to move on from Arnold, and Debora finds a true friend in Helga, Edmund, and Helga’s friends are by proxy. Sure, there are still people who treat her terribly when they found out she had a mental illness, but she’s finally content with people knowing because of all the sea of people that see her as a broken person, there are still a few good people that accept her, all of her.

We could of had this! I get that the original author didn’t want the cats as actual cats, but I might have actually liked this musical if it was portrayed like this. It most certainly would have been easier to look at in my opinion. At least there are some animatics floating around on youtube that have cats singing some of the musical numbers. Thank goodness for fan content!

An Introductory Timeline of Western Women's Fashion

I think a good place to start to get into dress history is general overview of the whole timeline. Understanding especially how the silhouettes change is really important ground knowledge to build the rest of the information on.

I'll start the timeline from Middle Ages and go till the first world war. I'll focus on upper class England/French sector, so keep in mind that before 17th century there were huge regional differences in fashion inside Europe and class differences too. There is a lot variance, changes and nuance inside any century and decade I'm about to discuss, but I'll try to keep this short and introductory and very simplified. I used a very scientific method of basically what makes most sense to me to divide the periods. I've made sketches what I would consider to be the basic silhouette of the period stripped mostly out of the detail and then I give couple of primary source examples.

12th century (Middle Ages)

Dress was simple one or more tunics over a chemise. They were overly long for upper classes, made out of straight lines. There were loose tunics often worn over another tunic, and tunics with laced bodice called biaut. In France bliaut sleeves often widened from the elbow, in England they often widened in frists.

13th century (Middle Ages)

Clothing was mostly very similar as in the previous century, though bliaut was mostly gone and new popular style was a loose sleeves surcoat.

14th century (Middle Ages)

Tailoring basically revolutionized clothing production, since clothes weren't made out of rectangles anymore and could be better made to fit form. Also functional buttons and lacing was popularized resulting in very fitted styles. The underlayer tunic, kirtle, became a fitted supporting layer.

15th century (Middle Ages)

Improvements in weaving technology and trade and growing prosperity in Europe showed in clothing as excess of fabric and variety of trends. Houppelande, a loose A-lined overdress lined with fur and fastened with a wide belt under breasts, became a very popular clothing item, and in later decades developed into the iconic Burgundian dress (the red dress). Fitted overdress continued to be popular alongside the warmer houppelandes.

1500s-1550s (Tudor period)

In the renaissance era clothing became increasingly structured and elaborate. The bodice was heavily boned and the skirt was also structured.

1560s-1610s (Elizabethan Era)

Both structuring and elaborate decoration reach it's peak during Queen Elizabeth's reign. She became the defining fashion icon of the late renaissance.

1620s-1670s (Baroque)

In baroque era the bodice was still heavily structured, but more curved than the conical Elizabethan bodice. Otherwise though structuring was replaces with dramatic excess of fabric.

1680s-1710s (Baroque)

In the late 17th century there was a huge shift in the clothing industry as mantua, a loose open robe inspired by Japanese kimono, came to dominate fashion. Rigid bodice was replaces by structured under layer, stays. Stays brought back the conical silhouette of Elizabethan era.

1720s-1780s (Rococo)

Mantua developed into the iconic Rococo dress in France, robe à la francaise (first example picture), and in England robe à la anglaise with closed bodice. Rococo fashion was characterized by the wide silhouette of the skirt.

Anything I've been doing lately: Aside from work, I have recently just been drawing and trying to catch up with a Youtube DND stream series I have been holding off for a long time. It's called "Shadows of the Old World", the sequel series to "Welcome to the Show". I also recently bought some items for a future cosplay I want to do. I don't do cosplays often so this will probably be the only time I'll do it, lol

Anything you intended to do later: Either more drawing or finally return back to writing the stuff I have been putting off.

Anything you recently watched or played: I already mentioned the DND stream series so I'll just say that I recently binge-played the entire remastered trilogy of Spyro. I got the Spryo/Crash bundle when it was on sell on Steam. Though I'm not binge-playing Crash like I did Spyro because I want to be productive in my free time.

Anything you've been meaning to watch or play: It's more of a read but I've been putting off reading the "Go the Distance: A Twisted Tale" book I got a while ago. I love Disney's Hades but reading a real book is a lot harder for me. lol I've been holding off on seeing finishing "Freakazoid" and "Dan Vs." I want to watch both in full, but I have so much other stuff I have in my downloaded video folders and I'm trying to keep up with the stuff I put in the watch later on Youtube so it doesn't go over 100. This isn't a "I've been meaning "to watch and more of a "I plan to watch" but I'm looking forward to Undead Unluck coming out in October. It's been confirmed that it's going to be on Hulu so I'm happy because I already use that service for Bob's Burgers and other anime. So September for Bob's Burgers and October for Undead Unluck, both months are going to be good for me!

Anything else you'd like to say: Uuuuuh, I guess that my birthday is coming up on the 8th. No need to say happy bday to me on that day since I keep my asks closed anyway. However, if you really feel like it, just comment here on my bday if you want to send me good bday vibes.

If you could change one thing about the world around you, what would it be?: I want people to stop using profanity as a way to hide they have nothing intelligent to say. I hate it when I see a person who may actually make a good point but completely ruins by spewing out needless profanity making me not want to like it because I want my page to be appropriate for at least some ages instead of just over 18.

Make music or listen to music: Listen to music. I don’t know my “scales and arpeggios” (reference to the adorable Aristocats movie)

Shakespeare’s comedies or tragedies: I don’t read much Shakespeare but I assume I would prefer comedy over tragedy.

Going to a concert or a huge party: They both sound horrible to me! I prefer not to be surrounded by many screaming/drunk people, thank you. Although, if it was a Christian concert I might consider even then I still wouldn’t like being around loud music with a bunch of crowded people.

Favorite animal: I’m not sure I like a lot of animals when they are in pictures. I’m not much of an animal lover when I have to live with them. I do like cats and fluffy rodents like bunnies and alike.

Favorite TV show: I watched a lot of tv when I was younger so I can’t say. At the moment I am waiting to see the next of Steven Universe and I plan to see the new episode of SVTFOE. I’m also eagerly waiting for the next of MLP:FIM.
