I want to encourage the streamers who are putting in the work playing and reviewing half-assed terrible games for half-assed terrible video game companies. I know you hate those games you have to hype up and pretend to be scared by stupid jump scares. I know you have to write your own dialogue because there is nothing interesting or fun or cool about most of those awful "games". And you are probably doing it just to put food on the table or get your channel started.
But here's the thing. Your audience doesn't care. Your audience is children. And they just like to watch you have fun and to live vicariously through you. You are the cool people they look up to and the entertainers who make them laugh.
My kiddo is chronically ill and basically bed ridden. She watches so many of those videos and laughs and smiles along with you. Those videos make up a huge portion of the life she lives through her phone much of the day. And significantly contribute to her quality of life.
That's right. Your minor channel makes her life better and all your viewers' lives better. It might not cure cancer. It might not feel like success. It might have felt like shit work at the time. But you are creating something that brightens a lot of kids days, and that is not worthless in this world we share.
Going through older videos I found this from years ago and thought it may interest you.
This was taken at a tide pool at Bar Beach on the east coast of Australia.
I spotted something in here that didn’t quite look like a rock and it turned out to be this little octopus.
The animal was very curious and interactive and would reach out for my finger so I could pull it through the water.
It felt like it was playing a game with me and this process of holding my finger and getting pulled through the water then darting back repeated for quite some time and it was more me who ended the interaction as couldn’t stick around at the beach much longer.
At no point in the interaction did I hold its tentacle myself so it being pulled by me was entirely of its own decision as if it wanted to it could let go at any time.
I still think about it now and wonder if it tried playing this game with others who got close enough.
This was my first hands on interaction with an octopus and what surprised me was just how gentle and precise it was with its tentacle arm when it reached for and held my finger.
I feel so lucky to have been in just the right place at the right time to have gotten to experience this and I definitely understand how people who have these experiences with octopus say it’s like a bond you can’t quite describe forms between you and it.

This is incredible and I love this octopus so much
being a woman is like would you rather be dehumanised for being sexy or for being ugly
There are people who actually worshipped JKR and there are people who gushed about her because she wrote Harry Potter and they loved Harry Potter who literally knew nothing about her that wasn't in the author bio on the dust jacket. I think fandom oriented people tend to forget how big a population the latter was! But Harry Potter was so huge at its peak that it had a lot of casual fans who deeply, deeply loved the series, maybe even knew the trivia of the actual books inside and out, but never engaged with the fandom side of things or dove deep into meta information. There were normies attending midnight release parties, the series was that big.
In the end we will have to accept the global warming will happen and is a fact.
Of course we won't change anything whatsoever. Except that there will be massive "mismanaged" government program to subsidize the relocation of rich homeowners away from the coast while making bank for bankers. And you can guarantee they will be leaving the renters and poor to basically defend for themselves with a single COVID check or some such bullshit.
I love tumblr tags so much. Like okay here’s the main post and here’s my little secret thoughts and addendums for the besties
It's only the people who "support the troops" who always get their panties in a bunch.
