steve loved holding eddie like this. he loved it when the two of them were alone, enjoying every moment of it. they had been so busy fighting rabid dogs and having everyone around them that they barely could find the time to be alone together. and now that they were, steve was going to make sure to enjoy every minute of it. he closed his eyes as he let his head rest on the otherâs shoulder for a couple of moments, pulling him closer to him. this felt nice, steve thought to himself. through all of the relationships he had been through, he had never had one like the one he had with eddie. and he was pretty sure that he wouldnât find anyone like him. at least he hoped that eddie was the one for him, but maybe it was too early to talk about it.Â
he let out a small chuckle as he heard eddie speak, being dramatic as he usually was. that had been a part of why steve had grown to like eddie so much. he opened his eyes and looked over at him with a smile on his face. he was glad that the other liked the haircut - it would have been bad if he had gotten one and suddenly he lost his boyfriend. it wouldnât be very good to his self-esteem. âwell, iâm glad you like it.â he said, before kissing his cheek.
once they were both settled on the couch, steve watched as the other draped his legs over his lap and smiled as he pulled him slightly closer to him. steve let out a sigh of relief once he felt his knee relax a bit, even if he had just been standing for a bit. it definitely wasnât the worst injury he had ever had, but it definitely bothered him a bit. he was just hoping that it wouldnât turn into anything serious. he let his hands rest on eddieâs legs as he slowly caressed them, looking over at his boyfriend. âwe need to rest for a bit. iâm not opposed to that either, but⌠letâs just talk for a bit. you know, i think talking is⌠important, right? what did you do today?â he asked with a smile.
steve chuckled lightly as he watched his boyfriend shake his head at the thought of him having short hair. âi doubt that you wouldnât be able to rock it. trust me, i think you would look hot.â he said, blushing lightly. âbut youâre right, the long hair does suit you. and i do love it a lot.â he smiled.
+++
a content smile on his face, eddie hummed, tilted his head to press a quick kiss to steve's temple. they hadn't been able to get moments like these lately, just the two of them. the two of them, as happy as can be, considering everything that was going on around them - a little slice of happiness if you will. good for the soul, kept you from going completely mad. he nuzzled his fave into steve's freshly cut hair, greedily inhaled the scent of his shampoo and various other hair products, eyes nearly rolling back into his head.
it wasn't quite cuteness aggression that drove eddie to give into his impulses and tilt his head again to - gently - bite the tip of steve's nose, but it was something along those lines - happiness aggression, maybe? 'being content in your boyfriends arms as you share a small moment of peace and quiet in the midst of a whirlwind that could very well lead to the end of the world, once again' aggression. in any case, eddie munson had never been one to deny himself impulsive actions. with a wide toothy grin he fell back against the couch, giggling to himself. he smoothed steve's nose with his thumb, muttering a quiet 'sorry' into the couch cushions.
he blew a raspberry, taking a strand of steve's hair between his fingers, twirling it around. "fine", he groaned with a playful roll of his eyes. "you're no fun, harrington - but fine, ignore my shameless flirting, let's just talk. talking is good. I agree." and he over accentuated his nod to show just how much he agreed. "what did i do today, let's see... uh, i rubbed some suspicious smelling ointment on this fucker right here." he wiggled his injured foot to the best of his abilities, had to hold back a pained wince as he did so. "re-wrapped it and shit. watched tv. wayne made me some eggs and tea and stuff, all that yucky healthy shit. i get up every half hour or so to walk around, curse my dreadful existence and wait for my handsome soldier to return from the war and come back to me." eddie sighed dramatically, the back of his hand against his forehead before he leaned in to press a quick kiss to steve's lips." and here you are, returned to me at last! i rejoice!"
a suddenly bashful smile on his lips, eddie was sure there was a red tint to his cheeks now and he quickly pulled some of his own hair to cover his face. "oh, stop it - you have to say that, you're my boyfriend. what if i show up rocking a mohawk one of these days? what if I go insane and buzz my hair again huh? id look awful, im telling you." he cringed as he remembered his buzzcut era. no, yeah, he was definitely going to stick to long hair for the foreseeable future." however.... flattery does work with me, stevie, be careful. you call me hot one more time and im afraid im gonna have to jump your bones."

even if steveâs parents had just recently gotten home, it wasnât long until they were out again. his dad seemed to have another business trip, and his mom would always go along with him. he wasnât sure why, but by now he had been used to being alone. in years before, he would have thrown a party, but as years went by, steve just realized that would imply having to throw a party every other week. and sometimes it was for the best if he was by himself. even if he was alone, steve still liked to confine himself in his room. it was just his safe place.
he had just gotten out of the shower, his hair still wet as he put on some shorts and he was ready to get in bed. there was nothing better to do and he was tired after spending the day standing on his feet at the video store. he was about to sit on his bed when he thought he heard a car on the driveway, but that couldnât be possible. and thatâs when he heard the knocks on the door.
raising an eyebrow as he got out of the room, not even bothering to put a shirt on, steve made his way downstairs as he heard the banging on the door. he was about to make a detour to grab one of his baseball bats, he didnât want to try his luck with whatever was out there, and thatâs when he heard eddieâs voice coming from the outside.
he frowned, rushing towards the door to open it, only to realize that he was standing shirtless in front of eddie. whatever, it didnât matter. âeddie, what the hell are you doing? itâs late!â he said, but he couldnât lie and say that he wasnât a tiny bit relieved that it was eddie and not someone else. he wanted to see him, but he hadnât gotten the time after he came back and now there he was, standing at his door. âwhat are you doing here? whatâs wrong?â he asked, slightly concerned about the other as he remembered that he was practically begging him to open the door.
+++
there were many strings of thoughts rushing through his head at lightning speed once he opened the door. eddie felt relieved, fucking hell, at least steve was alright, or seemed to be, at first glance. he was safe, from what eddie could tell, and he released a breath he didnât know heâd been holding.Â
relief however mingled with shock, surprise, and a sharp pang of... something very warm in his stomach. slowly, torturously slow, his eyes travelled down from steveâs face to his bare torso. the sight knocked the wind right out of his sails, eddieâs mouth fell open as if he wanted to say something but no sound escaped his lips. he blinked in disbelief, had to force himself to tears his eyes away fro steve chest. gaze quickly dropping to the floor, he suddenly felt extremely hot, wondered if the temperature had somehow risen in the last two minutes. his cheeks were burning, he was certain that he was sporting a nice, brigt blush.
âuh....â, it took him a moment to assemble the scrambled words in his head into a coherent sentence. he thought back to their first trip to the upside down for a moment, back to how he had nearly forgotten to fucking breathe when steve had taken off his sweater to jump into loverâs lake. how heâd tossed him his denim vest some half hour later, simply because he couldnât stand the sight of shirtless steve anymore, it was making him all dizzy and disoriented.Â
and it seemed that it still had the same effect now. eddie swallowed, frowned. think, munson, think, for godâs sake. â i, uh. eggs. â, he suddenly blurted out, looked back up to meet steveâs eyes. âin bennyâs diner. eggs, they , uh, they, like, hatched and...then there was this fucking fire, and it, it burned down and -â

of course he was an admired hero in their party - dustin wouldnât stop talking about him on more than one occasion. even mike had mentioned the other once or twice. eleven just never imagined she would be meeting him in a deserted diner. even more surprising that he was still around after⌠everything. remembering his absolute panic as the lights went out. and even all the things after. feeling a bit guilty, their experience felt all too familiar. this was probably her fault. the never ending twinge of guilt ever since she returned.
better yet, he was back at the place of their first actual encounter. elâs better judgement leading her back to the diner. the other night with nancy and Hop⌠but he was there. she could recognize that hair anywhere. she wasnât the only nosy one in this town apparently.
eleven smelled the ash before she could sense it. sure, the smell of burnt concrete was a grim reminder of the fact.. this place was done for. â do you see anything? â she didnât know his name, only that he was to be trusted. inhaling briefly in the aftermath of the destruction that they brought upon themselves. â eleven. â giving him a second of truth as she roamed through the debris. â and you? â hiding the rosy tiny upon her cheeks as embarrassment flooded her questioning tone. â iâm sorry, i should know that. â

it was stupid. it was a horribly, horrifically stupid idea but, staying true to the munson name, eddie actually found himself standing where bennyâs diner once had been, just... staring. contemplating, maybe? he didnât know. didnât know what had posessed him to hop into his van and drive back there in the first place but there he was, standing in the midst of the burnt down ruins, just looking.
eddie liked to think that he didnât know what he was looking for but that was a lie, eddie knew exactly what he was looking for as he absent-mindedly kicked some pieces of gravel through the ash. those âeggsâ, those freakishly large eggs that had had tears and cracks running through them. and the weird sludge, just... clues. he was looking for clues. upside down clues and he hated the thought of that with a fiery passion.Â
âgod - jesus - fuck!â, eddie jumped, one heart coming up to clutch at his heart as he whipped around violently, curls whipping through the air like daggers. the frame of ... hopper junior, eddie didnât know her name, came into view and a shaky yet relieved breath was drawn from his lips. hands on his thighs, eddie dropped his head, took a couple beats to get his breathing under control. âshit, man! you canât just creep up on people like that.â
after what had happened at bennyâs, eddie was even more on edge than usual. he frowned. âno, i...donât see anything, kid. âcept for you, scaring the freaking daylights outta me.â, he muttered, eyes travelling over the site once more. confirming to himself that he was definitely not seeing any eggs or the like.
eddie narrowed his eyes, brows drawn together tightly. âhuh? eleven?â, he echoed, looked her up and down. then looked behind her, to see if heâd missed anything. or anyone. âeleven what?â
this exchange was getting weirder by the minute, eddie planted his hands on his hips. âuh, eddie. munson.â, he said after a moment, smiled. âwell, i mean iâve got no idea who you are, hopper junior, so no offense taken.â
where: eddieâs trailer

who: @rcbinbvckleysââ + eddie.
ârobin buckley!â, eddie called out and, despite everything, there was a wide grin on his face, as he made his way from his room to the âliving roomâ area of the trailer after hearing the soft lick of the front door. heâd left it standing wide open for robin to get in, probably not the best idea with half the town still thinking he was a satan worshipping serial killer but oh well. spared him an extra trip to the door, didnât it.
âi welcome you to my humble abode. casa del munson! or...whatever.â he shrugged. heâd taken spanish in high school but had rarely ever used it since. and heâd rarely shown up for the classes in question, either, so.Â
eddie plopped down on the sofa, muffled sounds of the latest metallica emerging from his room, he rolled the joint between his fingers, admiring his work. despite his calm and carefree exterior, eddie was on edge. who knew hanging out with nancy âi have multiple guns in my bedroom at all timesâ wheeler would end with them standing in front of bennyâs, watching it go up in flames. watching....whatever alien supernatural halloween monster upside down crap that had been in there, burn to the ground, too. hopefully. it was all too much to wrap his head around.
he desperately needed a distraction. equally, he desperately needed a friendly face around him. eddie placed the joint between his lips and lit it. âhowâs it going?â

âdonât worry about it⌠she was old anyway.â steve shrugged it off, he didnât really care for his family that much. not his real family either way, he liked to think that everyone he knew in hawkins and was close with were his actual family, rather than his blood. but that didnât matter now, steve was too focused on eddie to think about that right now.
steve stared at eddie for a couple of moments as he talked, nodding his head slowly once the other mentioned that he was tough. âi know you are, but tough guys need some ice sometimes. itâs okay.â he said with a small smile, before shaking his head once he mentioned that he was a hero. âyou know, iâm not really a hero if i get beat up every time i try to get into a fight. but thank you. itâs good to know that you think iâm hot, munson.â he said with a smirk, as he looked at eddie with a smile on his face. steve didnât expect to spend this much time with eddie, especially not alone, but he liked it. the other was good company and it was easy to talk to him. sure, they wouldnât have been friends in high school, but that was the thing. they werenât exactly in high school anymore. steve was glad for that.
looking around his room once eddie started commenting on it, he couldnât help but to blush slightly. he had never really gotten around to change his room to his style, his mom didnât seem to like it, but why did she care? it wasnât like she was around to see it anyway. the only thing that made that room steveâs room was the bat with nails under his bed, but he didnât want to tell eddie that. he didnât need to know he kept it there. âitâs not me, itâs my⌠mom. i just never really bothered to change itâ he said with a small shrug of his shoulders as he looked at eddie again.
without even having time to process it, eddie was changing right in front of him. he didnât know why he stopped breathing for some moments there, after all, he was used to seeing guys changing in the locker rooms when he was in the swimming team, but this⌠it was different. it was eddie. his eyes lingered on the otherâs body, checking the tattoos for a few moments until he finally put on steveâs shirt. it was weird how he looked good on it, or maybe steve just liked the sight of eddie wearing his clothes. whatever it was, steve couldnât help himself to turn red. âthatâs a secret iâll never tell.â he said with a chuckle.
steve stood by the door for a few moments as he looked at eddie, deciding if he should stay or not, but when he heard eddie say that the bed was big enough, steve nodded his head. âsure, i⌠i can stay with you. thatâs fine.â he said, before closing the door behind him. he was about to spend the night with eddie munson on his bed and he wasnât sure how to feel about that. it wasnât the first time he had brought someone up to his room, but this was eddie.
steve didnât waste any time as he climbed onto his own bed, sitting up on it as he looked over at eddie. âcome on.â he said with a nod, as he cleared his throat and patted the spot next to him. what was he doing? what if eddie took it the wrong way? he wouldnât, right? he was the one who had asked him to stay, and steve wanted to stay more than anything. âiâll even let you choose the side you want to sleep on.â he smiled.
+++
âitâs good to know that you think iâm hot, munsonâ. eddieâs lips parted, a nervous chuckle and amused scoff drawn from them. as good as it felt that steve was so receptive to his teasing, it felt bittersweet all the same. because eddie had spent the better part of, what, two years now flirting with him. in vain, of course, for steve had never picked up on any of his advances. or if he had, heâd certainly given eddie the impression that they werenât welcome or worth to be acknwoledged.
âbut, you know, the fact that you get into fights in the first place - sure, you get your ass kicked but youâre doing it for a righteous cause. that screams hero to me, harrington.â not to mention that steve looked bonkers hot when he got a little roughed up.
he could feel steveâs eyes on him, his stare burning into his back and he squirmed under his gaze. eddie hoped the dim lighting of the room wuld hide the deep, deep blush that had risen to his cheeks. who could blame him, that felt like a perfectly reasonable reaction to having steve harrington watch you change. and before he could stop himself, before he even knew it the words had already fallen from his lips, causing his brain to short-circuit somewhat. âsee something you like, stevie?â
a sigh of relief drawn from his lungs, eddie relaxed slightly when steve agreed to stay and closed the door behind him. still, he wtached in...nervous excitement when as steve made his way to his bed,. sat down and invited him in. no, it was too much - it was more than heâd even dared to imagine in his wildest fantasies.
cautiously, he climbed into the bed, body brushing past steveâs as he settled. a small smile playing on his lips, edie wasted no time scotting under the covers. âiâm more of a wall side guy myself.â, he said, shifting around until heâd made himself comfortable.steveâs bed was so incredibly soft it took all he had for him not to fall asleep right then and there. eddie turned to the side to face steve.
âuh, listen, man, i...i get like, these, night terrors ? i guess?â chewing on his bottom lip nervously, he averted his gaze. âso, uh. donât get freaked out when i, like, move around. and if i get too close or something feel free top, just, push me away. donât worry,â, he said, gave him an amused scoff, âyou donât have to cuddle with the freak or anything.â

steve nodded as the other said that water was good, but he didnât move. for some reason that he couldnât explain, he didnât want to leave eddie alone in the room. not because he didnât trust him, but because he felt like he couldnât just leave him like that. and he doubted that he wanted to be alone too. so he just stood there, staring at eddie as he waited for him to relax a bit, but it seemed like panic was going to consume eddie and steve didnât know what to do. he looked at eddie to see the look that he sent his way once steve made the joke, but in all honesty, he was just trying to calm the other down in the best way he could.
âi leave town for a week and you guys⌠manage to set fire to a whole diner. how is that even possible?â steve asked, knowing that it probably wasnât anyoneâs fault, but he thought that if he were there, that everything could have been avoided. after all, he was a pretty damn good babysitter after all, and he could have prevented the whole thing - thatâs what he thought anyway, because he clearly didnât know what had happened at bennyâs diner.
he couldnât help but to notice eddieâs hand ghosting his own hip, which made him frown slightly. he was hurt. steve didnât even think about his next move as he grabbed the edge of the otherâs shirt and lifted up slightly only to reveal eddieâs bruise. it looked painful, steve thought to himself as he looked back into eddieâs eyes, only to realize what he was doing. âeddie, you should⌠go to the hospital and get this checked out. it looks⌠bad.â he said, looking over at him, his face turning slightly red by only looking at eddieâs bareskin, even if it was bruised.
steve kept his other hand, however, on eddieâs shoulder, giving it small reassuring squeezes as he was trying for the other to feel better with just his touch. he didnât move when he felt eddieâs hand on his own, but it didnât help with his blushing. he kept his hand there, nodding his head slowly as he heard the other talk. âi believe you, eddie⌠i mean, it would be stupid not to believe you, weâve all seen shit⌠i just donât know what it could be. we closed the gates. all of them⌠it canât be vecna. heâs dead.â he reassured the other, hoping that he wouldnât end up regretting his words. âyouâre not alone, okay? weâre all here for you⌠iâm here for you, and weâll figure everything out. you just need to rest or something.â he said, nodding his head.
âi just came back two days ago, it couldnât have been me, eddie⌠iâve been out of town.â he said, letting out a sigh as he grew concerned about people seeing him around town when he clearly was out.
âiâm sure⌠my parents are out of town again, so it doesnât matter, we donât need to worry about them⌠coming back or something of the sorts.â he said with a small sigh, looking over at eddie with a small smile on his lips. hearing that the other wanted to make sure that he was safe made him smile, nodding his head slowly. âdonât get all soft on me now, munson⌠iâm fine.â he said with a chuckle. âyou can stay in my room, i can stay in the guest room. câmon.â he said as he finally moved his hand from eddieâs shoulder and grabbed the otherâs hand without thinking as he started leading the other up the stairs to his room. âyouâre lucky, most girls donât get to see my room until the third date.â he teased.
+++
âsee, you canât just leave town for a week, harrington. we need our fearless leader.youâre lucky the town still stands, actually.â, eddie muttered, a small grin tugging at his lips - not that he wasnât spooked anymore, oh no, he absolutely was, but steveâs company did wonders for calming his jangled nerves. and that fact was definitely something to unpack another day. although, thinking about it, there wasnât really that much to unpack, other than the fact that eddieâs big fat schoolgirl crush on steve harrington was slowly but surely resurfacing. clawing its way to the surface and growing stronger with every day he spent in hawkins.
though, could anyone blame him, when steve went ahead and did things such as yanking his shirt up to reveal his bruise? eddieâs breath hitched in his throat, eyes widening as he glanced between steveâs eye and his hand, fingers not quite touching his bruised skin but ghosting over it, hovering and even that made eddieâs heart hammer in his chest. he gulped, managed a weak smile. âah, no, no, itâs nothing. nothing to worry about. iâm just clumsy.â, he waved it off with a shrug.
 âiâll live.â, he repeated âi mean, iâve survived worse.â and the memory of the swarm of demobats circling above him made him grimace, slightly, he hoped that steve didnât notice. eddie leaned into steveâs touch, relaxing with every little squeeze he gave his shoulder. he hummed and nodded, more to himself. âyeah. yeah, youâre right...iâll be fine.â eddie swallowed. âsorry, i - i shouldnâtâve come. itâs stupid. i woke you up, didnt i? iâm sorry.â
chewing on his bottom lip nervously, eddie looked up at steve again, considered just...leaving instead of making things awkward. but the look on steveâs face, the smile, suggestes that he hadnât just offered for eddie to stay simply not to be rude. it seemed genuine - he relaxed, slightly, nodded again. fingers tracing over steveâs hand on his shoulder as if to ground him.Â
steve took his hand, led him up the stairs - eddie nearly forgot to breathe as he stumbled up. forgot to walk, too. heâd only ever imagined this scenario in his dreams, though with a vastly different premise and outcome. he grinned, wide and toothy. âwell,well, well, arenât i a lucky gal.â

who: steve harrington & open
where: middle of the road
what was he doing? was he really about to go to a barbecue that was being thrown at the wheelerâs house? he had been invited, of course, but something didnât feel right on just showing up there. how was he going to react when he saw nancy? and worst of all, how was she going to react? all of these thoughts were going through his mind as he drove - he should have been paying the attention to the road, but luckily he snapped out of his own head just in time to spot someone crossing the road right in front of his car. without even thinking, steve hit the brakes as hard as he could, his body leaning forward with the abrupt stop and before he knew it, he was honking the horn in protest, before sticking his head out of the window to get a better look at the person who was standing in front of his car.
âwhat the hell are you doing, dingus? you canât just⌠walk in front of my car like that, you could have damaged it! i mean, you could have gotten hurt.â steve said, shaking his head as he ran a hand through his hair - both of them had been lucky, he thought to himself as he took a deep breath. âyou going to the wheeler barbecue or what?â he asked, once it got awkward enough - they couldnât just be there forever and the person didnât seem to move, and steve definitely couldnât run over them.
this was, objectively, awful. eddie was walking along the side of the road - not totally sure where he was - heaving and groaning and overall in a sour mood, dragging his feet like a little kid tired of walking. who'd have thought hawkins got this fucking hot in summer? he'd looked forward to getting away from the vicious chicago sun but had found his former hometown positively scalding, temperatures steadily climbing. he'd gone out to chill at his former favourite spot, that bench in that clearing in the woods behind hawkins high, to get a little piece of mind, have a smoke, be alone with his thoughts for a moment. he'd gone out there at, like, 12 this morning.
now, eddie wasn't sure what time it was, he'd forgotten his watch at home, but it was definitely past 12. he hadn't meant to fall asleep, it just happened. he'd only wanted to close his eyes for a couple minutes, next thing he knew he'd dozed off and awoken to bright piercing sunlight and what was definitely going to be a wicked sunburn on the back of his neck. some punk had stolen his bike so eddie was reduced to finding his way back to the trailer park.
he didn't know how long he'd been walking out there, leathe racket tied around his waist, only wearing a muscle shirt - he'd left the vest at home, which was inherently stupid because that vest was his best feature - pants cuffed, familiar black bandana dangling out of his back pocket. no cars had passed him, until -
- "harrington....?" eddie blinked a couple of times, made sure that this wasn't a heat induced hallucination. no, definitely, without a doubt, that was steve harrington's car. his fave lit up immediately, lips twisting into a big smile as he did the only thing he could think of. which was jumping in front of his car.
"harrington!", he called out, skillfully ignoring steve's outraged comments. he waved at him eagerly, then made his way around the hood of the car and yanked open the door to the passenger seat. "are my eyes deceiving me? do I truly find myself within the presence of king steve?"
he climbed into the passenger seat, stopped himself short of pulling steve into a hug. pull yourself together, man. the grin never left his face, leg bouncing excitedly because holy hell, that's steve and eddie's been looking forward to seeing him again for ages now.
"the wheelers barbecue? - well, im going now.", he said with an eager nod, pulled the door shut. "wheeler won't mind if you bring a plus one, will she?"
