Yes I've read that !! It's from KitsuneHeart right ? I've said in my first half-goblin Holly post that I was inspired by her :) I love her essay, I agree with all of her points. The People has a real racial bias problem (not to mention being a "pacifist" police-run society) and I feel like it should be addressed more.
Holly is skeptical π€¨
Struggling to make digital watercolor work, but Iβm quite happy, and enjoying the journey.
@laeliana asked, and her wish is my command o7 here's a little game : can you find the two Artemis Fowl themed tattoos in this picture ? π (please ignore the 17th century stays I'm working on a costume rn π )
I also have a little oak acorn on my elbow, but finding a way to photograph it would have been a pain in my butt, so that's all you're gonna get π
answered on Reddit already but still reblogging this great initiative ! loved taking a trip down memory lane <3
I'm working on a post about online AF fan communities in the early 2000s, and I am curious to hear whether anyone on here participated in or was aware of some of these groups (FWIW, I cross-posted this on Reddit and have a few notes regarding the francophone fansphere!).
Criminality (Fanlore WikiΒ link) was a fanfiction archive (2003-2016) where community members would share recommendations, create fanfiction prompt challenges, host fanfiction exchanges/events, and discuss the AF fan community (e.g., Mary Sues. Personally, I couldn't care less about the "quality" of people's OCs, as if I don't like a work, I simply stop reading it, easy-as, but fandom culture at the time was... fractious, to put it lightly, when it came to Mary Sues).
It's no longer possible to access the Criminality webpage; I can't even find much online about "breakthepressure", which was presumably the content management system (CMS) for Criminality.
Around the time Criminality came into existence, the Orion Awards collection was created on Fanfiction Net (~2001). Each year, fans would nominate fanfictions that they particularly enjoyed to be archived in the Orion Awards collection. Although I was too young to participate in fandom/use the internet at the time, my understanding of events (based on what I can find on the Wayback Machine) is that the Fanfiction Net Orion Awards community predated the Orion Awards webpage. The Fanfiction Net Orion Awards collection houses some, but not all, of the Orion Awards winners.
For the Orion Awards, fanfictions would be nominated and awarded across particular categories. Using the Wayback Machine to access the now-defunct breakthepressure Orion Awards webpage, I found the categories for the awards, which I have attached in screenshot form below.
Around 2007, the community on Criminality moved to the breakthepressure site for the Orion Awards.
What I have shared in based in research rather than personal experience with any of these communities, so I would be curious to hear about whether any fans remember what it was like to be a fan online between 2000-2012, as well as whether there are any other fan sites/communities beyond Criminality and the Orion Awards that you remember!
Oooh, Pareidolia Agent is such a nice title! What is it about?
Wee, it took me some time to find it but I'm really happy with it π It's the sequel to Artemis Experiments Weird π In which you will find, among many other things : - the Fairy Thief heist remastered in France, with Artemis posing as a teenage... girl (because he is my non-binary icon) - a human cult who uses the Wired through singing πΆ - Root hugging Holly π₯° - my take on a Banshee π» - Tim collaborating with the gang π - Juliet being one of the main characters π
Smol Artemis, Tall Artemis. This one is sloppy but Iβm tired.
Thanks for the tag @valhelos !! β¨
Iβve already listed all my fic wips, so here are the art ones π¨ Iβm generally not that comfortable with posting art wips snippets, but if you ask nicely... I just might π
rules: make a new post with the names of all the files in your wip folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. tag as many people as you have wips. people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, then post a little snippet or tell them something about it!

Tagging: I donβt know who Iβve tagged already aargh π Whoever wants to participate please do π
On top of May being mental health awareness month, itβs also BPD (Borderline personality disorder) awareness month. I donβt even have enough words to describe what it feels like living with BPD. It has been my tool to survival and will eventually be my demise. Life with BPD is the hardest. You are emotionally fucked. You are toxic to everyone you come into contact with. Everyday is a struggle. Every hour is a caution tape. Living with it is like living in a gas chamber that is slowly leaking toxic fumes. Your breath is always caught. Your tears are always flowing. Even with therapy and medication for the symptoms, there is so much left to deal with. It never really goes away. At a moment's notice you can change feelings from βI love youβ to βI hate youβ. Having someone love you feels fake. Like you are never going to be loveable. That no one could ever love you. Youβre too much of a burden. Too damaged to be loved. BPD is from trauma. And well, I have generations of it. No matter how much I try, no matter how much I grow it never feels enough. Emotions feel like suicide. Thoughts scream too loud. Demons control you like a puppet unable to run away. Hallucinations come and go. You really never know when they'll come or go. Sometimes the episodes will be minutes, others months. Distance or slightest voice change feels like abandonment. Happiness or peace feels like an illusion. Losing someone is like the world is the knives across your skin. Anger feels like jumping off a cliff. Every time someone tries to comfort or love you feels like a trick. You either feel alone or feel like a god. Living with BPD is the hardest thing to live with. It's comparable to giving my children up for adoption. Either youβre high on top of the galaxy or youβre at rock bottom over and over in a vicious cycle. We are so stigmatized. People think we are βticking time bombsβ. Hell Iβve even had therapists leave or deny me because of it. For all of my borderlines out there, you deserve love. You deserve happiness. You canβt just cope, you have to heal. It will take every ounce of self control and inner power to get through each episode. But I promise you when you find peace, true peace youβll know what Iβm talking about. Your trauma does not make you. You are not your trauma. You are not crazy. You are not a burden. Just hang tight, weβve got this.Β
yes. please.
they need to make a separate search function for when you do not wanna fuck the character youre looking up
βA good tragedy is always both preventable and inevitableβ is one of my main hills to die on. Itβs literally so important to me. Iβm fucking correct
I need to build some type of skin π¦·
Hyperfixations collide once again o/ I donβt resonate with Auroraβs latest song as much as with Conflict of the Mind, but it still does make me think of Artemis - or at least of how I see Artemis. Iβve always felt like he used to be an hypersensitive, deeply empathic child, who was conditioned to think of emotions as weaknesses that absolutely must be concealed ; and who had to build himself an armor and become an adult so very soon. But even in the first book, every interaction he has with Angeline shows just how much he stills feels, even though he bottles everything up. And even though heβs a dork and can be very obtuse to how much he hurts people, Iβm persuaded that you canβt have the borderline supernatural power he has to predict each and every one of his opponents moves during his schemes, without some very strong ability to truly put himself in their shoes and understand their psyches. Sure, you Γ§an totally argue that he got there through study and logic, but I do like to think that he does have high emotional intelligence - he just doesnβt allow himself to use it a lot.
β¦ whaddya think ?
Anyhoo, I actually donβt like this piece very much, Iβm still struggling to find how I want my digital art style to look like, but oh well.
For the ask game!

π What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists? The most embarrassing ones from my youth have thankfully been deleted and vaporised from existence π In 'Artemis Experiments Weird' there are a few things that I'd like to tweak - to name the biggest ones : some aspects of Selene and Artemis' early interactions, the progression of the Wired's hold on Artemis' psyche, and the big fight between the two Artemises. But like said, it's more like tweaking some stuff to improve it rather than me being embarrassed - when I'm embarrassed I just delete or never publish the thing π
π¬ Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?
Of the available ones, none, to be honest ! On the opposite, I'd love for more of my friends to be AF fans and fluent enough in English to read my fics π I wanna talk more about Artemis Fowl irl !!! Right now the only one I can pester with it is my poor husband and while he loves AF as well the poor man deserves a break π
