School Spirits Episode 8 Thoughts

This is sooo long and in no particular order but I NEED to talk about this show with someone i’m going feral.

1) okay If you told me last season that Xavier would be one of my favorite characters I would’ve laughed in your face. But the way he just waved at Maddie’s dad at the end and was like “oh yeah btw I met your dead dad” was absolutely king behavior. He’s so dumb and I love him.

2) I am really hoping Wally did not cross over?? He said in season one he didn’t want to go like Dawn and he wanted a chance to say goodbye. I can’t give up the ghosts found family yet.

3) I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS SO DANGEROUS ABOUT THIS SCHOOL. WHY WERE THE LIGHTS RED!??! WHAT IS MR. MARTIN SO AFRAID OF!?!! I love a good mystery and I feel like I have nothing to go off of on this. Please share any theories. Like yes, Mr. Martin, I am and have been wondering why so many people die at this school for two whole seasons! Please tell me!

4) I feel like Simon and Maddie will kinda switch places in season 3? I’m guessing Maddie will be able to Simon, and Simon is stuck in the ghost world (for some reason?) so…

5) I feel like we have escaped the possibility of ahh of the new ghosts betraying the gang, but @/amphibiafanatic on TikTok brought up the point that Quinn is not one of the band kids named in season 1. I was rewatching with a friend yesterday and also thought it was weird, but didn’t think anything of it until they mentioned that Yuri was mentioned in S1 so they obviously had plans for these characters, and why not just make Quinn’s name one of the mentioned kids?

6) I think this is a pretty common idea, but I really don’t think the exit doors lead to the ghosts truly crossing over. If there really is something wrong with this school, these exits doors seem fairly suspicious.

7) The boxes with the clues that were sent to the influences had a note saying there was one final box. My fingers are crossed that it’s a box announcing a season 3? They seem to have been pretty public about how successful this season was, and awesomenessTV seems pretty involved with all the press release and cast posts for them not to renew it?

8) Charley still has no last name. 🥲

9) Janet. Oh Janet. I love you so.

10) we’re not gonna talk about the mess I was when Maddie was saying goodbye. I can’t do goodbyes. I’ve never made it through a found family goodbye without sobbing my eyes out. This one was sooo rough for me gang.

Anyways, I really enjoyed the finale although I really wish we wrapped up a little bit more. I know the point of this season was for Maddy to get her body back, which was accomplished, but I feel like I have a lot more questions than I did at the end of season one!

What do y’all think/head cannon about the ghosts’ siblings?

Wally gives me big only child vibes. He was his mom’s only kid so she put all her energy and time onto him, as well as all the pressure.

I think Rhonda is the middle child between two boys. With both middle child syndrome and being the only girl with two brother who sapped all her parents time and attention she faded into the background of her family. This caused her to form the bond she should’ve had with her parents with Mr. Manfredo :(

Charley has one sibling very close in age to him (1-2 years apart) but honestly I feel it could go any way with the rest of the aspects. I could very much see him being the both older or younger of the two as well as the sibling being a brother or a sister ¯\ツ/¯

Matt immediately flirting with someone who was supposed to be "his therapist." Typical hoe behavior.

DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN SPOILERS

Turned on my TV to watch these cuties be my fav trio again only to watch it all crumble in the first 10 minutes 🥲

Rewatching S1 after finding out that the lights flickering means someone entered their scar is SICKENINGGGGGG!!

you wait all week in eager anticipation to spend one hour staring at your screen with your mouth open in abject horror and then it ends and you get to wait again. now thats television.

Imaging Yuri and Wally having to be the awkward boyfriends that third and fourth wheel Maddie and Charley when they have their best friend time and just sit next to each other being like “sup? Watch the game?” “I don’t like sports”

thinking about when charley and yuri met because charley was talking to himself and wearing a pot as a hat and yuri was still like damn he’s cute let me break my decades-long oath of silence for him.

When I first watched School Spirits (about a week before season 2 came out) I went on ao3 after I finished and my jaw dropped when I saw less than 100 fics TOTAL. I was so confused because after being in fandoms like JATP and Dead Boy Detectives that have thousands but got cancelled after one season I was like “surely this show with a confirmed second season should have lots of fandom surrounding it!” and THEN I found out that 3/4 of those 95 fics were reader x Wally and I have absolutely nothing against x readers I just don’t read them. I was just so dumbfounded by this and I don’t know why and I needed to break my silence on it. Anyways I need more angsty fics and fics about the ghosts being best friends.

It actually devastates me the relationship between Charley and Mr. Martin and how Charley specifically was so desperate for his approval and took it immediately to heart everytime he would be praised or highlighted specifically for his work in the support group. The support group, probably more than anyone, meant everything to Charley and he prided himself on being sort of a right-hand to Mr. Martin in terms of running the group and helping new ghosts (I’m thinking specifically about that scene where Mr Martin talked to Charley about how helpful he was in terms of the support group and how important his work was, which in retrospect was definitely a form of emotional manipulation because he knew how much Charley needed that approval and sense of doing good).

And then now Charley being the one to come to the revelation that the support group was meaningless, and it was just another trick for Mr. Martin to be able to observe them. God.

I'm sorry I can't stop thinking about Charley having to be like wait. Wait wait wait. Can I go get a white button up. I know you won't get it but this is for me.

And Yuri, who would walk into traffic if Charley asked him to, being like "okay this involves you changing shirts and me losing mine? Sure sure sure whatever you want."

SCHOOL SPIRITS EPISODE 7 SPOILERS

are we not going to talk about how heartbreaking the scene with Rhonda realizing she was dead was? like she’s so cynical and strong the entire show and this was so vulnerable. oh my god she was breaking my heart in that scene.

I desperately want to know if any of the ghosts have siblings. I know Janet had a brother, but are Rhonda, Wally, Charley, Dawn, Quinn, and Yuri all only children? Idk what I would do with that information, I just think it’s even sadder if they left a sibling behind 🥲

As much as I would like to ship them, can we talk about the levels of groundbreaking that was 2 male characters platonically freely expressing love and affection to each other and saying the actual words “I love you,” especially with one being (presumably) straight and the other gay. Like when does that ever happen especially on tv. Man, I love School Spirits so much

I’m rewatching S1 of school spirits with a friend and I cannot for the life of me remember…do they ever say who liked that photo on Nicole’s Instagram from Maddie’s phone? Nicole gets the notification that Maddie liked her picture and that sends her to the rooftop place but I am racking my brain and I can’t figure out who it was.
