Help Loay’s family survive continuing displacement

https://gofund.me/6b0f46a8

My home was extremely damaged and no longer suitable for life. Once, I had dreams. I was like you, enjoying life, pursuing my passions. But now, every thing has changed since October 7th and grief consumes me.

Here is some details about my family:

I used to work as a tailor along with my father in Gaza city, our sewing machines and staff were totally destructed after the area where we work was demolished and levelled to ground in Shujaaya neighbourhood.

My wife, Shama 30 year old who is a well known cardiac patient, delivered my second baby girl Manal in a very bad situation in Rafah back in march 2024 with shortage of her basic and essential needs.

A piece about survivors guilt.

This comic isn't perfect. I started it back in October 2023, and every time I picked up my pen, I wept.

I bring this to you today, on 9/11, in hopes that you reflect on this day a little differently than how most Americans would. Let it move you to continue to boycott, protest and challenge your family, friends and colleagues. You have a bigger impact than you would believe.

Thank you for reading this with an open heart.

From the river to the sea...

I'd like to bring to attention the fact that the figures depicted above are a gross undercount of the actual number of deaths. I scoured the internet high and low to source my findings and not a single one could break down the devastation that befell an individual ethnicity. Instead, they lumped a bunch of ethnicities together, provided a general timeline, and called it a day, reinforcing the sheer scale of dehumanization propagated in the west. The only consistency between all the articles I looked up was the 4.5 to 4.7 million figure I've included above, and even then, they were all published by western media news outlets... the very same that have been so unreliable and complicit in the genocide of Palestinians today. So I have to take everything they say with a grain of salt.

We are not just numbers.

All of us have ambitions and desires and lives worth living.

With that said, this is your friendly reminder to:

Donate an e-sim

Donate to PCRF to provide Palestinian children aid

Donate to Pious Projects to provide woman with feminine hygiene kits

Donate to CareForGaza to provide food to displaced families in Gaza either through their Gofundme or their paypal

Donate to any of the vetted gofundme campaigns on GazaFunds to help Palestinians trying to flee Gaza.

And if you or someone you know sees or experiences a hate crime and can afford it, SUE. This is a more effective use of your money than most realise. The reason zionists act with impunity is because of the normalization of white supremacy and oppression of ethnic minorities. Challenging that in any capacity tells them that there are consequences to their actions and makes them think twice before engaging in hate crimes and helps raise all of us up against the systems currently in place that let them get away with it.

If you can't donate or spend any money, you can:

Do your daily clicks.

Boycott targeted companies on the BDS list (if you're like me and you don't want a single dollar to go towards anything supporting Israel right now, you can use Bdnaash to double check what products are okay to buy, but the BDS list is sufficient as it is a strategic attack and proven very effective thus far)

Flood your representatives emails and voicemails with how you won't be voting for them unless their politics align with an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Attend a protest, be LOUD.

Challenge your circle of friends, family and colleagues with conversations about Palestine. (THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED AND MOST EFFECTIVE THING YOU CAN DO)

and if you're really up to, be disruptive in any capacity that you can think of towards major corporations benefiting from this onslaught. (i.e. halting military manufacturers from production + shipments, sticking boycott stickers on products at your market etc)

And finally, if your country wasn't mentioned in the above excerpt, it was no deliberate omission on my part and I encourage you to come forward and tell your story about the suffering of your people so that this may be a learning opportunity for everyone.

You are seen.

You are not alone.

Thank you again if you've read this far.

Have u heard about the flotillas departing now/soon for palestine

yes!!! i think everyone should learn about the freedom flotilla, which is setting sail for gaza very soon and needs to have eyes and ears on it, as israel has a long history of attacking, raiding and occaisonally killing humanitarian workers on aid ships to gaza, as they did in 2010 with the first freedom flotilla (because that's how long Gaza has been under siege)

here's an interview with journalist and lawyer dylan saba, who is setting sail on it and is a good person to follow to learn more about it:

[screenshot of interview]
S: If Israel were to raid the flotilla as it has done in the past, do you think that anyone inside the White House would be concerned? Do you think that were American citizens, who I presume will be on the flotilla aside from yourself, if they were detained in the course of doing this, that [Biden] would voice that concern with the Israeli government?

D: I would hope so, I would hope so. I think that it in part depends on what kind of attention there is on the flotilla, before and during the mission. Part of our philosophy in doing this is that, the more of a spotlight there is on the mission itself, the more diplomatic pressure we can bring to bear on Biden and other heads of state. Because this is a multinational coalition: there will be Americans on board and there will be people of probably a dozen other nationalities, some Western, some non-Western. But the hope is that we can translate media attention into diplomatic pressure to bear on the Israelis.

Should we be detained, I imagine there would be pressure on the Israelis from the Americans to release us and send us back. I also think that the Israelis would not be that interested in holding us for any lengthy period of time, because I imagine from the Israeli point of view, they basically want this to go away. That is part of the strategic logic of the flotilla from the outset, right, is to force the issue, in a media sense, force the issue of aid, demonstrate its connection with the military operation, and put the Israelis in a situation in which basically any way they handle it is harming their war effort in a narrative sense and [harming] their standing in the international community.
S: Why specifically did you want to be on this flotilla outside of your obligation as a journalist to cover this and to put a spotlight onto it?

D: It’s a great question and it’s something that I’ve been thinking a lot about. I’ll speak generally first and then speak for myself. I think that there are different logics for why folks are participating in this, and they range from kind of broad to more narrow, and the broadest are the folks who have a spiritual or ethical commitment to nonviolence.

That’s ultimately what this is, it’s a direct action. It’s a non-violent, direct action. We are civilians. We are unarmed. We are attempting to deliver essential humanitarian aid to the people in the world who need it most. And we are willing to confront the violence of the Israeli military, their genocidal violence, because it’s imperative to do so. And there are some folks who feel that nonviolence is an ethical and spiritual imperative and are acting out their politics or their ethics in that sense.

There are some folks, and this is a slightly narrower kind of conception of duty, subscribe to belief in strategic non-violence. There are theorists of this in political science, like Gene Sharp, Erica Chenoweth, and Maria Stephan, who say that engaging in strategic non-violence is an effective, or the most effective way to counter entities that have a monopoly on the use of violent force, that strategic non-violence has low barriers to entry, [as in] a lot of different people can participate in it, and ultimately what you can do is draw out or elicit overreactions from the armed state in such a way that undercut that state’s legitimacy and can be an effective strategy for destabilizing regimes.
