Goth Lit fandom: Now that we're in a place culturally where we can portray gay relationships without going to prison for two years, and now that popular media has started to tackle bi and gay characters being toxic in relationships, surely we can make Dorian Gray's subtext into text. We can adapt it as a book about a man loving another man so much that he captures his likeness and his soul. We can show Dorian use his beauty and appeal to manipulate men like he did in the book. We can tell this as a tragic story of an artist falling for a man who is much more toxic than he seems.

YESS!!
Sorry guys... I can't get behind the idea that regulus was forced to join the DEs, its BORING. Like if he always didn't believe in Voldemort and was always faking his ideals, then where's the fun in the betrayal. Like he's so compelling because of his character arc, his CANONIC "change in mind" (to kreatcher). Like you're telling me you'd rather believe he totally hated DEs and stayed true to that his whole life. That's such a boring character. Isn't his character development and change so interesting to delve into instead of just pitying himm. Like the darkness and devotion and obsession his character had, he was so loyal to his super strong beliefs. And yet he STILL betrayed voldy and the DEs!!! That's SO MUCH MORE of an interesting character/character arc than poor baby who can do no wrong and JUST suffered. PLEASE tell me someone gets what I'm talking about
i fear i have uquizzed too hard š
