every buddie argument is so good because their conflict is never about not loving each other. they're always both coming from such a place of care and understanding even when they're spiralling. this argument is sooo... god. at its core it's "i know why you have to leave and i would never ask you to stay but i don't want you to go" and it's "i'm trying so hard to be okay with leaving my life behind but you're making it harder for me to leave" AND!! it's "if you need to be mad at me, be mad, it's okay" and within all of that!!! the actual conflict is!!! that they don't want to be APART!!!
god "I think youre just supposed to live" is such a bobby line I'm gonna throw up. you can hear how much buck is chanelling him in that moment. the entire scene feels like something we would normally see with bobby. the way buck hangs back and just listens and lets chim get it all out before delivering a heartwrenching line of very good advice. he really took Bobby's last order to heart
getting my 8x11 meta in under the wire. i’ve been thinking a lot about maddie’s “maybe it’s time to learn the lesson again. how to be alone” line and how it fits into the context of the conversation. bc i know i’ve joked about it like oh buck fucked up maddie’s advice to get friends so bad that she told him to be alone instead but the thing is is that she’s NOT telling him to like . cut all ties and be completely alone. obviously. he still has her and the 118. his friends and family. shes not telling him to not have friends. so then what is she saying? surface level it’s her telling buck to not get back with tommy just to not be alone bc buck literally said "i was using tommy to avoid feeling alone" right before. but the logic here that was set up from the beginning of the episode is buck missed eddie -> buck used tommy to avoid feeling alone -> maddie tells him to be okay with being alone. so the type of being alone that maddie is talking about here isn't general loneliness or the loneliness that comes from not being in a relationship but buck specifically being alone without eddie and missing him. it's just interesting how, in the same conversation that buck refers to his and eddie's friendship as "what me and eddie have" that maddie is ALSO putting their friendship on a different level than normal friends. and buck doesn't correct her. its how you would talk about getting over an ex and not jumping straight into a new relationship just to be in one. it's not how you talk about your friend moving away. except it's how buck talks about eddie bc he's insane and thinks that it's normal. and everybody around him is also doing it bc it's just how their relationship is universally understood.
"dad would be so proud of you" is literally not a complement considering he was an abusive acholic asshole and bobby was the one who found him dead. not a complment and most likely a way to try to manipulate bobby. fuck that actualy
The kind of posts I have seen on here since the last episode aired (and let’s be honest for a LONG while now) make wonder why some people still watch this show.
Like, if you hate the characters so much and every storyline that is being written, why bother watching? If it makes you so miserable, what’s the point?
There are so many fucked up things happening in this world, life is way too short to have a 60 minute procedural tv show make you feel so many negative emotions. It’s okay not to watch anymore if it no longer brings you joy.
And that was it? That was it.
“i never see you at the club” ok well i never see you on ao3 at 2am reading about the same two bitches falling in love for the 1000th time in the 500th way
i think this will either go one of two ways. either A) they see the backlash, realize it's not going to go away, and reverse bobby's death, (cmon you're gonna risk losing angela basset?) saving the very little face they have left for their very popular show. or B) they won't have the balls to tell Tim Minear to change the story and he runs the show into the ground. either the show will become incredibly grief stricken and depressing that it's not fun to watch anymore or they're going to move on so quickly from Bobby it feels unnatural and the show will feel incredibly soulless.
Angela Bassett has already said she doesn't see a world where Athena and Bobby don't end up together at the end of the show. the interviews have revealed that literally everybody (the cast, the crew, the execs) did not think this was a good idea. we know there were multiple endings filmed, that the execs had to talk Minear out of a 4 minute helicopter chase scene in the middle of an episode when they couldn't even be bothered to show eddie once, and the deadline article points out that this was a this was "the biggest risk Tim has ever taken in his 30 year career." people apparently understood this was an incredibly risky and stupid move.
and as much as i would like to hold onto all of that, i think there's a very real, simple, and terrifying possibility that they're not going to reverse this and that the show is going to be run into the ground, despite all of the obvious reasons not to.
i think the best thing to do is keeping up the pressure because there are so many cracks in this already that it's very possible we could fix if we don't let it die.
i'm sorry for the dramatics, but i really don't wanna lose this show to a bad writing decision, especially not when i feel like there is something we can do and this could maybe be reversed.

the whole fucking point is that buck would sacrifice everything for eddie and eddie would sacrifice everything for buck AND they would both sacrifice everything, INCLUDING EACH OTHER, for chris. that's the whole point. that's how buck is finally going to realize that he has a family with them and how eddie and chris are going to realize buck is theirs. it's literally the whole fucking point!!!!!!!!!!! nobody loses here
