โWell, I read through that Handbook for the Recently Deceased. It says live people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself am strange and unusual.โ

One thing that I really donโt love about the online autism community is the way that some people in it like to push back against stereotypes by insisting that no autistic people actually fit these stereotypes ever, period, end of. I see things like โbeing in ITโ, โliking geeky stuffโ and stimming in more stigmatized ways (ie. rocking and hand flapping) harped on a lot.
As an autistic programmer who stims by rocking when particularly overwhelmed and enjoys stereotypically geeky things, this is incredibly othering.
โStereotypicalโ autistic people arenโt the problem: NTs making broad assumptions about all autistic people are.
I walked past a goth shop today and it looked really cool so here's a drawing about a goth shop :-)
