My Palestinian best friend is an absolutely brilliant scientist and all around amazing person. He genuinely tries to help everyone he meets. It is heartbreaking seeing my dearest friend in so much pain. I wish there was more I could do to help.

A lot of his friends and family all around the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the war. ALL PROCEEDS from the Palestine designs I have been selling will go first and foremost to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely, and after that helping his other loved ones weather this war.

I know it's not much but my hope is to at least ease the financial toll this will take on him, grad students don't have much to begin with and having to stretch what he does have to protect those he loves is going to be really tough as this conflict drags on. I don't want him to have to leave his research, I can't tell you much for his privacy but I assure you it is brilliant work and he loves it so much. No scientist should have to choose between their passion and the safety of their family.

Trying something a little different here, at the recommendation of a friend. Some people use stickering as a form of activism, you've probably seen it for one cause or another if you live in a big city. Most of my stickers are mainly meant to look nice, but I thought I would change it up a bit and make an informational one, with that use case in mind.

As usual, ALL PROCEEDS are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. I made another piece with this quote (new one is on the left), I'm still wondering where it's from if anyone knows. I've seen variations of it attributed to Pablo Neruda and others but no one seems completely certain of the origin.

I also just want to add in light of all the turmoil in US politics right now, please keep an eye on Gaza. Don't stop protesting, and vote in an informed way across the ballot. Just because our national politics are fucked up right now doesn't mean we can't make progress locally. If you want to see more progressives make it to the national stage then support your local progressives now while they're just starting out. Support local divestment pushes and get involved in relevant local activist groups (university clubs such as SJP, etc). Every bit helps, and we need to keep the pressure on.

These designs are edits of two vintage Julie de Graag prints.

For now his girlfriend is safe, plans are underway and we hope to see her here in not too long. His immediate family is safe for now. Some of his extended family are not doing so well unfortunately. We likely won't know the extent of the harm until things calm down a little. I will keep posts vague to respect his privacy, but the stuff in the West Bank has hit them quite hard. They've also lost some friends in Gaza.

Another poppy design pieced together from open source resources, this time in a map of Palestine. As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for my Palestinian best friend to help him take care of his loved ones affected by the violence and economic devastation in Gaza and the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. Anything he doesn't need for his immediate friends and family will be donated to charity, wherever he thinks it will make the most difference (he's heavily involved in activism and very knowledgeable about that sort of thing).

Three hours to go until the ceasefire. I'm with my Palestinian friend at his lab, we're just working and waiting. I'm incredibly proud of the strength and composure he's shown in the face of this genocide, he's the most amazing person. Let's hope the ceasefire lasts, and the West Bank gets a reprieve soon too. I want to thank everyone who has supported my fundraising shop. We received so much support, it's been so heartwarming! I really hope we get to spot some of my shirts, pins, etc at protests and rallies in the future. Even if the ceasefire holds this is far from over, we need to keep the pressure on!

I will continue to run this shop for the foreseeable future, there's so much damage to recover from in Gaza and Lebanon and the raids and economic restrictions in the West Bank are showing no signs of stopping. I would like to help him support his family as long as I can, and if that ever becomes less necessary I'll switch the shop income over to a relevant charity of his choice. A minimal poppy design, just an open source image with some lettering I thought would make for a nice water bottle sticker. This flower is common in Palestine and is often used as a symbol, representing the colors of the flag and blood shed upon the land.
