I've been thinking about Hawks lately. I'm on loving the birb man era again.

So i was thinking about childhood friends to strangers to lovers with hawks. You know how he used to live a lonely life before commission got him. But what if he actually had a friend. YOU.

You were also a kid living in the neighborhood and you guys were so close!! You would sneak up to meet him and play with little keigo. You'd share your snacks with him. He'd tell you how he feels and he'd cry to you. You were little keigo's safe space. You guys were each others best friends.

Untill he had to leave you behind. Without a word i may add. Suddenly. With no trace. You cried for WEEKS. Months even. You felt bad even after years. You actually thought he's gone for good. But then one day you look at the tv and "oh wow, isn't that a familiar face?!" You didn't know how you feel after seeing him as the big shot hero. He's no longer a crybaby, he doesn't need you anymore, he grew up so much over the years, he's stronger, he got so many admirers, he's moved on from you, he's not your best friend keigo anymore, in fact he probably forgot about you. That's what you told yourself. But you're proud of him though. He has come so far. Grown so much. You're definitely his number one well wisher nonetheless. And with that you move on with you life as well. But you can't move on from HIM. He was you closest friend. How can you!

Little did you know, all this years he thought about you too. Do you still wait for him behind his rundown house, do you still keep extra snacks for him, do you still smile so brightly, are you okay, he hopes you're well, hopes that you're healthy and happy. And he hopes that you never forget him. Little did he know, you could never.

Then one day, after the war and everything, Hawks wanted to go back to his roots, where everything started, his origins, just to get a break from all the chaos over the years. A well deserved rest. He wanted to see how things are where he used to live, wanted to know if everything's still the same, wanted to see things he was never allowed to when he was little. And maybe wanted to see if he could find something familiar. Though he never really imagined he'd actually bump into someone. Someone who meant everything to keigo once. Someone special.

With a soft smile and shining eyes, "Huh, isn't that a familiar face?!".....

I am, finally, at the end of my journey and have turned off Coconut Mall, sparing myself the torture for any longer. haha. Oh you two are fucked up together. Not abusive or anything, but it's not very often Hawks can even get close enough with another hero to consider them his friend. Let alone his partner. And oh, finally, he found someone who knew just how messed up being a hero is.

It's not every day he can find someone that can actually keep up with him, running or flying at his side, keeping pace. It's not every day where he can flop down in the old rickety motel the Commission is forcing the two of you to stay at and tug you into him, giggling morbidly about all of the shit you two had to do.

Blood covered both of your hands, splattered over your bodies. But in Hawks' opinion? Red really suited you.

It's not a traditional relationship, filled with soft and sweet moments of romance and swooning. Yes, he's absolutely whipped. Yes, you're absolutely whipped. But it's much more... playful than anything.

Either of you could die at any moment. So it's fast-paced and passionate, playfully throwing taunts at each other on the battlefield only to patch each other up lately. Rivalry at its finest but still love. So much love.

Maybe one day the two of you will finally be able to slow down.

When the world's quieter, Hawks murmured to you once, staring off into the distance, his body still trembling from the memories he'd relived, when the world's quieter.
