As christmas is approaching and I constantly see videos of people doing the angel tree shopping for kids in needs of toys and everything I feel like hawks would loove to participate in it bc you know of his past and I'd like to request hawks and reader going shopping and gifting the kidsđ„°đ It would be adorable
I LOVEEE THESE VIDEOS omg they r my FAV !!
also, happy holidays everyone! i hope whatever you may celebrate is wonderful đ
but yes i completely agree that he would go way overboard
in the hustle and bustle of the festively-decorated mall, you made your way inside with keigo, brushing the snow off your jacket as you took your phone out, pulling up the lists of your family members.
âi swear, my niece thinks iâm the one with the amex black card.. she asked me for those stupid seven hundred dollar headphones. headphones, of all things! i might as well buy her front row concert tickets!â you huff
keigo laughs, shaking the snow out of his wings.
âbaby, i told you that i want to help buy your familyâs gifts. if those, albeit expensive, headphones are what she wants, iâll buy them.â
âyouâre too sweet for your own good.â you shake your head. after a momentary disruption to take pictures with fans, you two continue on, stopping to look at a large christmas tree.
âoh, they have the angel tree up!â you hum, looking at the tags stuck onto the tree.
âangel tree?â keigo asked, leaning over your shoulder.
âyep! basically, a local charity gets christmas lists from kids whose families arenât able to afford much, and then people can pick them off the list and fill it for them. iâve been doing it the past few years. sweet, isnât it?â you explain, reading through the different cards.
keigo walks around the tree, looking at all the white tags stuck onto the tree.
as the two of you browsed, a nearby woman in a red blouse approached. short black hair and kind blue eyes, she appeared to be in her early fifties.
âhawks! what an honor it is to have you looking at our angel tree!â she grinned.
âoh, yea, my girlfriend was just showing it to me,â e smiled warmly. âi think itâs a great thing that you guys do this.â
âoh, itâs our pleasure. everyone deserves to have a happy christmas, right?â she clasps her hands together. âactually⊠could i ask you something?â
keigo nodded, still looking through the tags.
âwell, normally we just hand them out to the families ourselves when they come to pick them up, but⊠the kids would love if the number two hero gave them their gifts.â she said, hope dripping in her tone.
âoh.. like, youâd want.. me to hand them out to them?â
âi think thatâs exactly what she said, honeyâ you say, biting back your smile.
âyes, i understand if youâre too busy, but it would only be a few hours next saturday.. we give them to them early so the kids can enjoy having presents under the tree.â
ânext saturday..â keigo tapped his chin. âiâm sure i can swing it.â
âoh, thank you hawks!â the woman grinned, immediately gratefully shaking his hand. âthank you, thank you! the kids will be so happy!â
âiâll do my best.â he nods.
the woman steps away. âwell, iâll leave you two to your shopping. just be here, say.. eleven a.m.?â
âeleven oâclock next saturday, you got it.â
keigo turned back to you, who had a wide smile and even wider, glossy eyes.
âthat is so sweet!â you squeak out.
âtell me youâre not about to cry..â he groaned with a chuckle.
âi canât help it! youâre just gonna make the kids so happyy-yyy-yyy!â you whine, tears pouring down your cheeks.
âcâmere, you crybaby.â he smiled, pulling you against his chest. âplease donât stain my shirt. we both know how hard it is to get all your eye makeup out.â he stroked your hair.
you pull away, carefully dabbing your eyes with your fingers, fanning yourself.
âiâm okay, iâm okay,â you sigh. ânow, itâs time to do what iâm best at. shopping.â you grin deviously.
you two plucked four tags off the tree. a boy and a girl for each of you. you two went to the toy store first, of course. luckily this mall had one of the best toy stores in the city, with towering lego buildings and life-sized stuffed animals.
you glance down at your tag, frowning.
âokay, my girl likes dress up and dolls, science books, plushies, and cartoons⊠annnnd my boy likes anime, pokemon, fairytale books, and playing outside,â you hum. âthey need basics too, like winter clothes and hygiene stuff, but weâll get that stuff later. what about you?â
keigo looks at his list. âmy boy likes monster trucks, crafts, dogs, and board games.. but my girls list just says.. not needed.â he frowned, clutching the paper a little tighter.
âwell.. hey, maybe their family is just nervous about asking for too much?â you bite back your lip, gently brushing his arm in a comforting manner. you knew his past, so you imagined how important this was.
âwell, theyâre gonna get a big surprise when she gets a whole lotta presents.â he grins brightly.
you tilt your head, smiling softly. âoh, iâm sure. now cmon, letâs grab some carts. this store is gonna get cleaned out.â
each of you grabbing a cart, you stroll down the various aisles, filling it to the brim with various gifts for your angel tree kids. various dress up clothes, books of all genres and lengths (including some for as they grew up), barbie dolls, monster high dolls, bratz dolls, littlest pet shop, science kits, stuffed animals of various sizes and species, toys from popular cartoons and animeâs were airing, pokemon cards and stuffed animals, outdoor toys for all seasons, monster trucks (with batteries, of course), various craft kits and supplies, a little robot dog, and all kinds of board games. next was.. the more difficult task.
âthis oneâs gonna be difficult,â you sigh. âitâs hard to guess what a kids into when you donât know anything about themâŠâ you bite your thumb. âi mean, i had different interests depending on what day it was as a kid. monday i obsessed with my sailor moon dolls and wednesday i was bill nye making what could be equated to mustard gas in my kitchen. what about you?â as you look at him, keigo turns his head slowly, tight lipped, blinking slowly. âoh, right.. sorry.. forgot for a second. sorry honey.â you suck in air through your teeth.
âhey, iâve got an idea though! why donât you just.. imagine yourself as little you, and put whatever you like in the cart! anything you would have wanted as a kid, just throw it in, you know? people are always talking about that inner child stuff.â
keigo thinks for a moment.
âthatâs not a bad idea. you should help, though. when i was a kid, all i wanted was loving parents,â he looked at you, who was holding in a laugh. âyouâre going to hell, you know that?â he glared at you.
âiâm sorry,â you mutter out. âitâs not.. that you didnât have parents, itâs just the way you said itâŠbut anyways! letâs go spoil our last angel kid - weâll, before the essentials.â you quickly change the subject.
you watch keigo as you walk down the aisles - the same ones you two raided while shopping for your other angel tree children - intently. he seemed far too analytical, as per usual.
âhoney,â you hum. âremember, think like a carefree kid. i know.. that you probably had to think about all of this, but just imagine you can pick out anything youâd want, alright?â
keigo nodded. âright.. anything iâd want..â
he picked up a medium sized dollhouse.
âi used to make little figures with sticks and tissue paper, but this one comes with actual dolls. they wouldâve liked a house, i think,â he puts it in the bottom of his cart. in the next aisle, he picked up various lego sets. âcâmon, every kid should have a lego set.â he says, tossing it in the cart.
as you two browse the aisles, his analytical side begins to fade away (though he still explains his reasoning for everything) as his eyes begin to light up. the size of his cart is doubled by the time youâre done. you two are walking to the front, tall carts threatening to spill when you glance at him.
âshit, i forgot to grab something. can you take this to the front for me? iâll meet you up there.â
âof course,â he uses a few of his feathers to steady the toys in both of your carts, pushing yours. âjust be quick, alright?â
as soon as he disappears, you slip into an aisle that holds various hero merchandise, picking up one of his plushies. you hold it behind your back, going to a different register while heâs distracted with paying for all of the presents and using his feathers to hold the dozens of bags. after paying, you slip the doll into your purse, meeting back with him like nothing happened.
the rest of your shopping trip was filled with getting the essentials for the kids on the list. while shopping for their clothes, you couldnât stop gushing to keigo about how small all the clothes were, and how adorable the kids would look in all of them. you even managed to get the shopping for your family done as well.
by the time you two left, you could barely fit all of the bags in his car, including the trunk and the back seat, covering all the windows. in fact, this is how most of the drive went:
âbaby can i merge?â
âi donât know, what am i supposed to do?â
âstick your head out the window.â
âmy hairâll get ruined!â
âitâs gonna get ruined if i crash, too.â
-
âoh my god are we gonna get pulled over?â
âmaybe, but itâll be on their hands when they ruin christmas.â
âyouâre going like, 40 over! slow down or christmas really will be ruined!â
-
luckily, you two made it home alive and ticket-less. thank god for keigoâs feathers, otherwise getting up the elevator with all of the bags would have been hell on earth.
as soon as you got inside, you changed into your coziest pajamas, dimming the lights as you turned on one of your favorite christmas movies, sprawling various boxes, bags, and bows across the floor with your un-opened wrapping paper. keigo, of course, made two cups of hot chocolate with extra whip cream for both of you.
three hours. two movies, six rolls of wrapping paper, and five cups of hot chocolate between the two of you later, every present was wrapped, bowed, taped, boxed, bagged, and tagged.
keigo yawned, stretching.
âfinally done.. iâm gonna go get ready for bed..â he said, his eyes already half closed as he kissed your head, taking your two mugs to the sink.
âokay! iâll be there in a few minutes!â you reply, reaching into your purse to take out the plushie that resembled him. you smiled, dropping it into a small box as you quickly wrapped it, setting it with the rest of her gifts.
next saturday, as promised, you and keigo showed up to the mall, dozens upon dozens of gifts in tow. keigo found a santa outfit but decided to skip the beard, which you heartily appreciated. you, in turn, dressed as mrs. clause, with a fluffy red skirt and calf high black boots.
as expected, keigoâs presence was met with pure excitement, each child that came up with their parents to get their presents nearly exploding with joy.
just as all of them were passed out, a small girl, who looked to be about five, approached as her mother stood a few feet back. she was in a light blue blue winter jacket a little too big for her with baggy green cargo pants. she had short curly lilac hair with wide orange eyes.
âhi there,â keigo knelt down to her. âare you yui?â
the girl nodded slowly, holding her hands behind her back.
âwell, looks like iâve got your presents right here,â keigo stepped aside, revealing the last pile of presents. her mother gasped as yuiâs eyes glowed - literally. her eyes lit up like flashlights.
âfor me?!â she asked excitedly.
âall for you, but donât open âtil christmas, alright?â keigo winked, tapping her nose.
âactually, i have something she can open now,â you spoke up, kneeling down beside keigo as you handed her the small box you kept hidden.
âyou do now?â keigo asked, equally surprised as yui as she held it in her small hands. she tore it open, smiling brightly as she pulled the small plushie of keigo out.
âi love him! thank you!â she held him against her cheek, hugging him tightly.
you didnât notice, as you were watching yui hold her new favorite plushie, but the look keigo gave you was of pure adoration - it was a look that people only dream of. it was a look knowing that you were the person heâd spend the rest of his life with.
keigo helped them pile the gifts into their car, and you two stood outside the mall, the cool wind whipping against any exposed skin.
âi canât believe you got that by me without noticing.â he grinned at you as they drove away.
âwell, you donât need government training to be sneaky.â you tease him, shivering immediately after.
âcâmon, mrs. clause,â he wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you closer. âletâs get you something warm, hm?â
I like your leather but I like it better on the floor, I lady like your legs but I think I like them around me more
Guys. I did it again. I did gribeans yuri again.
*cleans the blood from hands* I warned you guys wouldnât survive this (bc I didnât either)
Shadowpeach Bio Parent AU (PREV / FIRST /
iâm just- tired of fights, I think these emotionally constipated bitches got to fight enough. Itâs finally time for the Un-divorce Arc (Also glamour-less Wukong my beloved, I can give you all the scars I want)
these two gay ass monkeys have so much work to do. An apology wont fix everything but it surely is a start.
Have my fav sad OST to listen to while reading this.
I saw someone comment on a life series TikTok or something to try and pair all of the lifers to a crane wives song, without repeating songs. so obviously I spent an hour doing it
GrianâTongues & Teeth (self explanatory if youâve EVER heard this song)
ScarâSteady, Steady (this whole song is about how their partner is walking out but they still want to be âwild and freeâ which is just SO Scar coded)
TangoâAncient History (he keeps teaming up with Skizz and I feel like this song vibes with that, it also just feels very Tango)
SkizzâIcarus (this man always gives himself up for his teammates I swear, and he fuels them to keep going. It also says âoh brother, brotherâ which feels like Skizz talking to any of his teammates to me)
ImpulseâAllies or Enemies (Impulse has been very iffy on a lot of his alliances throughout the seasons, especially in third life and with the amount of playing all sides that man has done this songs feels right)
CleoâThe Glacier House (this. this is literally just her leaving Fairy Fort. The song is talking to/about her from probably Lizzieâs perspective, but like the last line is 100% as if Cleo was speaking)
BdubsâUnraveling (Bdubs relies so heavily on his teammates, and when he doesnât have that stability *cough* Etho *cough* he just kinda doesnât know what to do so this song fits)
MumboâKeep You Safe (this man is by no means an aggressive/reckless player [see: Joel or Martyn] and he feels like heâs just here for the vibes and honestly? Love that for him. This song is about fear not keeping you safe and watching your friends run high risks, which just is very accurate to how Mumbo plays this series. I also feel like he could fit Rockslide when he goes red cause he goes from standstill to âdrop dead sprintâ in terms of aggression)
JimmyâCanary in a Coal Mine (no further context needed, we all know Timmy)
ScottâLittle Soldiers (this is very flower husbands, but also just feels like Scott looking back on the last seasons including Pearl, Jimmy, Martyn, all his reluctant exes. Also this man is the watchersâ like least favorite person ever and this gives that vibe)
PearlâRibs (i changed this from New Discovery because Ribs is entirely about somewhat angrily protecting and helping yourself because nobody else would, and it really strikes me as Pearl with the some things having been good (Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss) and some being bad (divorce quartet))
BigBâNot the Ghost (this man is so incredibly odd, he just constantly feels like he is being haunted by the watchers and just going about his life, he is the human personification of gaslight and we love that for him)
MartynâThe Hand That Feeds (he HATES the watchers with every ounce of his being, and with Ren gone I think this guyâs only purpose is just to spite them)
JoelâSleeping Giants (go listen to it. Thatâs all there is to it, it just feels very Joel-ish, this lad is absolutely fucking mental)
RenâOnce & for All (this song feels like war and being betrayed, and Ren has been betrayed so much so it just fits. I mean come on âmy bloodâs forever on your handsâ tell me that isnât 100% something Ren would say)
GemâShow Your Fangs (Girlboss moment, we love Geminislay. This woman is not someone to be underestimated and this song very clearly says that so itâs very Gem in my head. She doesnât have enough lore yet to make it angsty but ONE DAY)
EthoâNever Love An Anchor (I canât explain it, this song just has Etho vibes. I mean âItâs a secret I keep tucked inside my chestâ just seems very him, I canât really tell you why)
so imaginable? Bro. Rody Soul as Hawks or smth is actually one of the best ideas I've ever seen an artist do before, S++
This isn't mines!
genuinely one of my fav fics rn đ«¶

âThe moon landing was fake?â Bucky frowned at you from his seat on the bed.Â
âNo-â you snickered at his naivety. âI said people theorize that it was fake.âÂ
In the past few days, you had taken to explaining important events throughout history to Bucky. You had begun to question how much about the world he actually knew about. He explained to you that when he wasn't in cryo sleep, he was only out for a few days at a time.Â
For him, the past few decades have been like blinking in and out of history.
âThere's actually been six moon landings.â You explained. âSo even if the first one was fake, there's been plenty more to make up for it.â
Bucky tilted his head at you curiously. âWhy do people think it was fake?â
âWell, there's a few different reasons. Some people think the shadows are off, and that it must be a staged set. In the footage of the first men walking on the moon, they stabbed the flagpole into the ground-â you explained, waving your hands about. Bucky tracked the movements with his eyes. âThe flag moves slightly, like there's a breeze. But there's no air on the moon.â
âSo why did it move?â He squinted at you.
âThere was a second pole sewn into the top of the flag horizontally, to give it a cinematic look for the images. Or at least that's what they say.â You explained, smiling at the ridiculous theories. âHonestly I have no idea if it was real, anything could happen- something Iâve realized recently.â You picked at the edge of the bed sheet that laid on the floor.
âI never thought there would be people to actually walk in space.â He muttered, glancing out the window.Â
âNeither did I- and I was born after it was already done.â you chuckled. He glanced back at you, his lip curled in a slight smile. You tried not to show your surprise at the reaction. âYouâre so old,â you blurted.
He huffed out a shocked laugh, shaking his head slightly. âI know,â he muttered.Â
âSo, what was it like? Back in the day.â You pushed, trying to see if it would be too far.Â
âWhat do you want to know?â
âWhat did the sky look like?â You asked, your eagerness at his openness not hidden very well. âModern light pollution makes it hard to see the stars. There's places with less light, and the sky is said to be amazing there.â
He blinked at you, not expecting that to be your first question. He relaxed a little, his shoulders slumping.Â
âIt wasâŠâ He hadnât thought about it in a while. He hadnât let himself think of the small things, the peaceful strolls at night, or the music festivals, or the trips to the bars with Steve. âIt was brighter, I guess.â He nodded to himself. âI guess I hadnât thought about it much, but it was clearer. You could see the smaller stars a lot better. Like freckles.â He explained.
You grinned softly, nodding along. âI think thatâs one thing I would have liked to see, back then. People always talk about being born in the wrong generation, but I think I was born at the perfect time.â You told him, still picking at the blankets threads. âBut I would have liked to see the world back then, the sky, the nature. I bet the ice caps were huge then.â
âPeople want to live back then?â He tilted his head at you.Â
âYeah, itâs a personal opinion people have. A lot of people miss older traditions, or the state of society back then. The politics, the economy. Or even just for the clothes. Itâs something a lot of people talk about.â
Bucky squinted, chewing on his bitten lip. âMm,â he hummed in acknowledgment. You could almost see the cogs turning in his head. You realized then, that he probably felt the exact same, in his own way.
The past was his home, and more than anyone, he probably wanted to go back.
But he couldnât. He could never go and see his childhood home, or his family. He couldnât go visit the places he used to, even if he was free to do so.
It was all gone.
âDo you miss it?â You whispered the naive question.
âI wouldnât belong there, even if I could go back.â He turned his gaze back to the window. To the stars. To the sky that was once so familiar.Â
To the one thing that hadnât changed.
â
Bucky sat with his hands in his lap, his gaze lingering on you as you moved around him. âI guess it slipped my mind, with everything going on, but I should have checked a lot sooner.â You mumbled, stepping out of the bathroom.
âWhen was the last time you had a dose of the serum?â You asked, standing before him now.Â
âA few days before Washington.â He told you. You glanced down at the crook of his flesh arm.Â
âAny side effects? Muscle spasms, headaches, shakiness?â you reached a hand out. âCan I?â Bucky nodded, tugging his shirt off in response.
âNo, no side effects.â He told you, setting his shirt in his lap.Â
You took his arm and began gently pressing your fingers to his pressure points, waiting to see if he had the appropriate reactions. You moved up his shoulder to his trapezius muscle. âAny tenderness?â you walked your fingers down, then prodded gently between his ribs.
He shook his head, his gaze glued to the side of your face as you worked.Â
Youâd noticed his staring problem a long time ago. It used to make you nervous- and god does it still.Â
âOkay, hold your arm out to the side.â You waited for him to obey. âIâm going to push down, donât let your arm fall, okay?â He nodded in response.Â
You placed an arm on his forearm, and one on his bicep. You tried a slight push at first- he didnât even budge. You then pushed down hard. Once again, he didnât even shift. Out of sheer curiosity, you tried with all of your strength to shove his arm down. Bucky watched, amused, as you put all your weight on his arm.Â
Your feet left the ground for a moment. His arm acted like a steel pole.Â
âJesus-â you huffed, letting go. âYouâre actually- I mean, wow.â
His lips curled at the edges in a soft smile. âCan I lower my arm now?â
You nodded, setting your hands on your hips. âDid you have to try at all?â
He shook his head, setting his hands back on his thighs. âNo.â
âWell- that's great then.â You nodded, trying not to flush at your outburst of curiosity. âI didnât think youâd fail the test- but it's a necessary one.â You gestured. âUsually, if someoneâs muscles are degenerating, or even just concerningly weak, they canât stop their arms from falling under gentle pressure.â You explained.Â
He nodded, tugging his shirt back over his head. âSo, does this mean your serum worked?â
You nodded, sitting back on the mattress. âI think so, but I canât be sure. It could still just be a temporary fix. It could be working as an annual vaccine type of thing, so the effects might wear off after a while.â
He nodded, his metal fingers fidgeting absently on his knee.Â
âOr it could be permanent. Iâd need to run your blood and do some scans to know for sure.â
âI can accept that.âÂ
âI canât,â you huffed. âI wish I could take you to my lab- or a doctor here- just something.â You grumbled.Â
His gaze flitted to the floor.Â
âIâm sorry, Bucky.â
He straightened, his brows furrowing. âDonât be.â
âI just-â you pulled your knees up to your chest. âI wanted this to mean something.â The solemn feeling hit you quickly, washing over you like a bucket of ice water. You were taken to help him, and if you couldnât do that, then it was all for nothing. Your life was upended, stolen from you, for nothing.
âItâs not your fault.â He told you, his voice softening. âI donât care if it didnât work.â Your gaze flickered up to him. âIf I get sick, then I get sick. Thatâs not on you.â
âItâs not fair.â You tell him.
He tilted his head at you, his expression softening bitterly. âNothing is.â
A/N: Hope this doesn't bore you guys. More stuff and excitement to come!
