cursed to love 90s movies and blessed to have an absolutely flawless Max Grodénchik radar. Paused apollo 13 in front of my family so I could point at 3 pixels on the screen and say "rom. Rom is here everyone."
Had to illustrate what I envision literally every time I see this text post
someone in the tags of my last post pointed out that ford wouldnt know what the no fly list is because he wouldnt know about 9/11 so i immediately rushed to draw this as fast as i could
Headcanoning both sets of Pines twins as trans has so much angst potential because like imagine being Stan Pines, a man who was so close with his twin brother they chose matching names, and almost thirty years after losing your brother and desperately fighting to bring him back you meet your grand niece and nephew, Mabel and Mason Pines, a set of twins who, just like you and your brother chose their own names and who, just like you and your brother, chose matching ones.
tumblr just deleted a huge swathe of palestinians who were on here trying to fundraise. if you've been helping any of these fundraisers please take this time to 1) check in with palestinians you're in contact with 2) help them submit support requests if needed 3) keep these campaigns circulating while the beneficiaries are being silenced. these campaigns are life or death, this isn't just social networking. do not let these fundraisers languish.
One year gone
One year of killing civilians
One year of bombing hospitals
One year of bombing schools
One year of destroying a whole city
One year of starving people to death
One year of making people leave their homes to live in tents
One year and still the world just watching us dying
One year thousands are missing under the rubble thousands arrested with unknown future
One year of thousands of children lost either one of their parents or both
Thousands lost parts of their bodies
I can’t imagine this will continue for a year
Fuck this world fuck everyone
Ahmed's family's campaign has raised €976/€20,000. Ahmed is displaced in southern Gaza caring for his father and brothers while his wife is alone in the north with their fifteen-month-old daughter, Najah, under constant bombardment. They have lost a child before and live in anxiety and fear of never seeing one another again. Just a few days ago, Ahmed's encampment was bombed, and last night he received news their home in the north was destroyed. Any donations help support safe passage so the family can reunite. This campaign has been vetted and promoted by @/gaza-evacuation funds here. (contacted by @najah-meshal)
Eman's family's campaign has raised $1,305/$5,000. Eman is a science teacher and mother of five children; Nada (11), Rahaf (8), Sarah (5), Sham (3), and Zeina (9 months). They are struggling to find clean drinking water, survive the harsh climate, endure sickness, and are surviving on canned food. All donations are used to support their basic survival. This campaign has been vetted by association through Eman's sister Eslam here. (contacted by @emanfamily3)
Shaima's family's campaign has raised $2,179/$30,000. Shaima is a mother of four (Magdy, Walid, Abdel Rahim, and Amal) currently separated from her husband, who was across the border at the time of Israel's attack on Gaza. They have been displaced six times and are in desperate need to evacuate to Egypt to reunite and escape the genocide. Any funds will help secure their safety. This campaign has been vetted by association; information here. (contacted by @familygazaamal)
Mahmoud's family's campaign has raised $4,035/$40,000. While Mahmoud was able to evacuate to Egypt, his sister, Soha, her husband, Hassan, and their four children (Ahed, Mohammed, Majd, and Karim) are still in Gaza. They have been displaced seven times and now reside in a refugee camp, where conditions continue to worsen. Donations, through Mahmoud, support the family as they struggle to find stability. This campaign has been vetted by @/90-ghost here. (contacted by @ahed-family2)
Lama and Mohammed's campaign has raised $4,115/$10,000. Lama and Mohammed were forcibly displaced from Khan Younis to Rafah along with Mohammed's family of twelve; their house was destroyed in the winter. Lama is now pregnant and in need of care. All funds aid in securing their evacuation. This campaign has been vetted and promoted by @/gaza-evacuation-funds and vetted by association; information here. (contacted by @lamahourani7)
I think it hits extra hard if he was trans to begin with and Jules was already his chosen name. Because imagine being forced to have your chosen name essentially become your second dead name not because you chose another but because someone, your parents who you trusted, took it from you and killed it.
personally i do think julian bashir is trans, but not in a way that sublimates his genetic alterations into a trans allegory. i think he's disabled and trans at the same time, but i think his rebellion against his parents--the symbolic death of his old self with the name change--that's not about gender, for him, at all.
it's about the incredible violation of autonomy he experienced as a disabled person under the knife of a eugenicist society. it's about the need to reclaim some, any, of the agency that was so completely stolen from him by his parents.
it's about discovering that his entire self was deconstructed and reconstructed, without his knowledge or consent, for the express purpose of being less of a burden on his parents.
because let's not forget that the death of julian's old self was not his decision. it was his parents who killed the old self and created a new one.
let's not forget that human society in star trek is still recovering from the eugenics wars--that just because it's post-scarcity doesn't mean it's a utopia.
let's not forget the multiple episodes where bashir is forced to confront the fact that his "success story" is truthfully a gross reminder of how deeply his society (and his family) hates disabled people, not only shown in how they tried to fix him, but also in the fact that the process so rarely works as intended, yet is still done anyway--and the failures and the ones too far gone to save are locked away! with no connection to general society, and only the bare minimum provision for their physical needs, with no privacy and no autonomy!
and let's not forget that julian sees these people and is torn between the empathy he has for them, and his urge to fix them. and he goes through with this urge on Sarina, "fixing" her to conform to his idea of what she ought to be, treating her as a problem to be solved, objectifying her via "my ideal woman was trapped in this disabled body/mind and i saved her," thus continuing the cycle of violence, because even he can't conceive of a world where the disabled do not need to be fixed. where the violence done to him was wrong. fuck man
I just dropped part of my eyebrow piercing into my cereal.

i urge everyone who sees this to share, at the very least, if you cannot donate. please, please, please do not scroll past without reblogging. this post will be updated as/if anyone else reaches out!
i genuinely hate how people have to sit and write a post that stands out while boosting a fundraiser because most people won't bat an eye at the misery and inhumane conditions Palestinians are living in.
i see people making art and telling others to use it because fundraisers with art are generally reblogged more often. i see people using colored text in order to make the post more eye catching.
palestinians on instagram are using popular audios and stitch trending reels at the beginning to make the world pay attention to them. imagine having to make something look entertaining in order to survive.
they are living under constant threat of israeli airstrikes, bombing, scarcity of food and disease. many have lost a lot in the past few months.
palestinians on tumblr are posting their pictures and the horrible conditions in which they are living. they travel long distances for internet connection only to be called a scammer by some privileged ass who cannot locate gaza on a map.
here are some verified gfms. please share the linked posts. it's the bare minimum we can do from the comforts of our home.

There's a fine line between pectorals and tits and he has undoubtedly crossed it.
I do love that scene in the man trap where uhura chastises spock for not reacting emotionally to a dead crewman because it could be kirk and "he's the closest thing you have to a friend" all the while spock has spent the entire time since the death announcement looking like he's about to throw up.
Spock why are you looking at him like that. Answer me, Spock.
Please, I can't be the only one.
"Oh these twins are different genders but they look similar so clearly they're actually identical and one of them is trans" WRONG! They're fraternal twins who are both trans and purposefully transitioned in a way to make them look more similar because they thought it'd be fun (and they were right!). I am objectively correct about this.
Was watching TNG with my dad and during one of the poker scenes he (while referring to Riker) said something like "I don't understand how anyone could call someone they've slept with "Sie" (polite/professional you in German)" but Worf was on screen at the time so it somehow didn't really click that he was talking about Deanna and for a few baffling seconds I lived in a world where my dad had somehow misconstrued Worf and Riker as having canonically slept with each other.
James Kirk Miku Binder.
I know we all like to talk about Kirk grabbing Spock's arms in the "not in front of the klingons" scene and how it's something he normally does before kissing people but like, can we talk about how Spock does the same to Kirk at the end of Amok Time because I for one cannot stop thinking about it.
Like, what were you going to do there Spock? Were you going to finally do with your captain what you know he's done with all those people who you wished were you?? Were you going to grab your captain by the arms and kiss him on the lips in an expression of pure, illogical, unvulcan joy and love??? Did seeing this man alive fill you with so much relief and elation and oh so human affection that you couldn't help but mirror what he would do if put in your position with someone he loved as much as you do him???? Gay.
Honestly they could have odo on lower decks or some animated short without having to recast him. They could just edit in various grunts from already existing audio. No words, no dialogue just "harumpf". I wouldn't even notice.
I still can't get over how tos wanted to do a murder mystery where it was supposed seem like scotty killed a bunch of women but they had to somehow explain why the hell he would ever possibly do such a thing so they just have bones go "boy I sure am glad scotty recovered from that concussion that made him hate women (which is a totally normal reaction to getting injured because of a female coworker that any human person might have btw)" like ok guys fucking A+ writing no notes on that one.
Amongst the reeds crouched a tall gentleman with his nose buried in a radio apparatus. The tall man had long, pointy ears. "Almost like a moomintroll" thought Moomin. "Are the fishes biting?" asked Moomin politely. "I am not fishing." replied the gentleman.
