SWTOR OCs Infodump (pt I)
SWTOR OCs Infodump (pt I)

Aura’dann (Jedi Consular)- Aura’dann grew up with her Echani, who gave her values of passion and justice. She carried these values into her time as a Jedi when she joined the order at 17. When she left for Tython, she had already been practicing and learning from the force on her own. Aura used her force abilities to become a great, if unconventional, fighter in her community. Among the Echani, combat was a near-sacred art, making Aura’s accomplishments all the more esteemed. Despite all this, Aura had a thirst for more and knew she had plenty of untapped potential outside of what she could teach herself.

As a Jedi, Aura’dann could often forget that the force was more than a tool for her to hone. She always struggled to focus inward and sense the spiritual workings around her, which sometimes left her feeling out of place among her Jedi peers. Aura is also visionary at heart, and craves to serve the Republic and strives to be a shining example for the Jedi.

Kai (Smuggler) is honestly a little doofus. A little himbo goofball, if you will. Upon contact it wouldn't seem he has much to offer, but truthfully Kai is very cunning and will find a creative way out of any predicament. He's always ready for a challenge and can hardly be stopped once he has his eyes set on a goal.

Behind his eccentric personality, Kai really does have a heart of gold. Kai is a strong extravert and will do everything he can to uplift the spirits of others. He's loud and flamboyant and the life of the party.

To be honest I don’t really have any kind of crazy backstory for him; Kai just exists to be my little goober man and to live out my platinum-blond shag dreams for me.

Alykaa (Sith Warrior)- After Alykaa’s mother passed, she was destined to be her family’s only child. She was part of a kind of Sith royalty, her family legacy having strong influence in the Empire’s affairs. Being the only child that could maintain respect for the family, the responsibility that Alykaa carried was clear from a young age. Her single father, although barely involved in her upbringing, made sure Alykaa knew she had to succeed.

Alykaa grew to be a fierce warrior, with an unmistakably fiery essence. Desperate to prove herself, Alykaa was put on a pedestal from a young age, being a poster child for the perfect imperial. She was always a strong patriot and held her devotion to the empire second only to her family.

Alykaa is ruthless and unforgiving, especially if someone is in her way or acts against her values. For this reason, she fit perfectly into the role of emperor’s wrath and served as a formidable force against those who stood in the empire’s way. This is also the reason why things… didn’t work out with Malavai Quinn. She was uncertain she could ever find a worthy partner. That is, until she met Hrafen who effortlessly shattered her understanding of the galaxy. There was something about his indifference that compelled her. Hrafen was so unimpressed with her power, it should have been infuriating. But there was also a kind of understanding in Hrafen, that Alykaa couldn’t shake. He was able to see untouched parts of her with such casualty, being the first to truly see who she was.

Hrafen (non-canon Sith Warrior) is known for being totally unserious. He can never seem to accept or trust any authority and was known to wander on his own unconventional path. Relentlessly speculative, Hrafen questions everyone and everything, which turns a lot of people off to him. This proves to be a good filter to finding like-minded people, however, and when Hrafen meets someone who he can have respectful debate/conversation with, he is quick to call that person friend. Despite his off-putting demeanor, Hrafen is a big people-person and has a genuine fascination with people and understanding how they work. Hrafen ends up collecting a peculiar crowd of people who are willing to question the Empire’s authority.

Similar to Alykaa, Hrafen’s family had strong connections in the Sith Empire, although the expectations were never so strong. While Alykaa had it hammered into her mind that she needed to support and honor her family, Hrafen’s family was never so desperate. Being sith purebloods, they already had an inherent and effortless leg up in society.

Yeah this, I feel like a lot the of the Jedi are boring and suffocatingly dogmatic complains come from not really understanding this idea.

I think the most frustrating/disheartening misconception I often see about Star Wars, and the Jedi specifically, is the misguided notion that love and attachment are one and the same. Which in turn leads to fundamental misunderstandings of who the Jedi are and what their teachings on non-attachment mean. While you absolutely can be attached to those you love, you do not need attachment to have love for someone. That's as true in Star Wars as it is in real life. The reason that Jedi teach non-attachment is because attachment leads to suffering, and suffering is a path to the Dark Side. This, like many other facets of Jedi philosophy, takes inspiration from Buddhism. Buddhism teaches non-attachment for the same reason: to mitigate or eliminate suffering, which is caused by greed, delusion, and/or aversion. This does not mean that the Jedi are forbidden from loving others. They are forbidden from developing attachments to others, which is why the Order, by the time of the Clone Wars, has outright banned romantic relationships. It's hard to be in a romantic relationship without attachment. But Jedi can love, and do. We see beautiful friendships throughout Star Wars. Parental-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Sibling-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Outside of the Clone Wars era, especially in the High Republic, we often see the Jedi in acts of loving service. Obviously, what that looks like varies from individual to individual, but that loving compassion for all living things is absolutely instrumental to being a Jedi.

A Messy First Draft Of A Hound Redesign. One Hand Is On Backwards So We’ll Ignore That. What This

A messy first draft of a Hound redesign. One hand is on backwards so we’ll ignore that. What this design does do, is bring together all elements I wanted. It just doesn’t integrate them, but hey what first drafts are for.

💭 💜🩹 for the swtor OC of your choice!

Thanks for the ask!

💭 💜🩹 For The Swtor OC Of Your Choice!

^Very rough sketches of my OCs to give you something to imagine

💭 THOUGHT BALLOON — what is your oc's MBTI, enneagram, and/or other personality aspects (if known/interested in)?

I’m actually going to answer this for several swtor OCs- you know how I love 16 Personalities!

Aresyl (Sith Inquisitor) is an INTP-A: She’s very preserved and quietly inquisitive, always questioning both the galaxy around her and the abstract nature of it. In true INTP nature, she seems totally detached from the present, lost in her own head. She's also very spontaneous and doesn’t believe there’s much of a point in planning when her reality and goals are constantly shifting. However, being assertive (-A), Aresyl feels confident in her ability to navigate her adventurous mind and find the solutions she needs to.

Katynn (Imperial Agent) is an ISTP-T: She’s always restless to explore the galaxy and get her hands on new experiences. Katynn’s fiercely observant (S) and thinking (T), making her perfect for her imperial agent role. She’s able to examine the world around her and decode it with decisiveness. Katynn’s introverted (I) and turbulent (-T) nature manifest in her loner mentality- always straying from the norm either because she doesn’t care for rules or because she’s afraid of growing close to others.

Alykaa (Sith Warrior) is an ISTJ-T: she’s a firm proponent of tradition and upholding order. ISTJ’s easily accept the standards of their society, which is not a problem with a moral upbringing, but this just lead Alykaa on a path to becoming the ruthless and unforgiving Emperor's Wrath.

Hrafen (Sith Warrior) is an ENTP-A: he’s at constant debate with others (and sometimes himself, although not as much as Aresyl) but is unable to take any argument seriously. Although his constant questioning of others often seems brash, it comes from a place of deep unseriousness on his part since he sees all viewpoints as temporary. Being a constant contrarian, he could never trust any society to be worthy of conforming to, although he understands his deep need for community.

Kai (Smuggler) is an ESTP-A: He’s always looking for a new reckless adventure to share with good company. He has a kind of reckless, self-assured nature that could bring him to the top as fast as it could ruin him. Despite this, he remains purely rational and never lets person feelings get in the way of making the right decision.

Aura’dann (Jedi Counselor) is an ESTJ-T: Similarly to Alykaa, Aura’dann is a strong upholder of order and values. Aura’dann and Alykaa are kind of two sides of the same coin, but instead of growing up to be a ruthless sith, Aura’dann is a stark defendant of the republic. However, Aura’dann does not follow the Jedi blindly and instead follows the teachings of the Echani people she grew up with. She was never able to accept the Jedi’s strict rules and opted to keep to the rules she had already lived by. Aura’dann takes it upon herself to be a good example among the Jedi and to the republic with brutal honesty.

💜 PURPLE HEART — what is your oc's ancestry/genetic background?

I kind of talked about this already, but Aura’dann is Echani and grew up in a strong familial community until she joined the Jedi Order at 17. She felt the need to escape her home since she had a quarrelsome relationship with her family (Aura’dann has very strong opinions, which proved difficult when it came to making family compromises). Luckily, she has so much love for them that Aura’dann was able to keep in touch.

Alykaa is part of a strong bloodline of sith and her family is a defining aspect of her personhood. Her mother wasn’t present in her youth, but he father hammered in high expectations early in Alykaa’s life. She always felt the need to do her family proud and being a shining example among the sith order.

Hrafen, being a literal sith pureblood, obviously also has a strong family connection to the sith, yet is less bothered by it. In part due to his skeptical nature, he never felt the need to be chained to expectations. He doesn’t have much to do with his family- they weren’t a particularly nurturing bunch anyways.

🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities?

(I’m going to include mental illnesses/disorders here)

Katynn nearly lost her hearing completely on a mission early on in her career which involved a partner being reckless with explosives. Fortunately, Katynn was later able to pretty much restore her hearing to normal with the use of her cybernetic implants. Katynn also has borderline personality disorder (BPD), which includes having unstable moods, behaviors, and relationships. She has a lot of difficulty letting people in because of this.

Aresyl has inattentive ADHD, further contributing to her detached presence. Aresyl’s history as a slave is reflected in her struggles with PTSD and depression.

Aura’dann has chronic migraines, mostly because I have chronic migraines and need at least one character that can bear my pain with me.

For Tol'Raz: 🍝🤩😥

Tol’Raz’s favorite food would be space fast food. He’ll like food that makes him nostalgic such as any thing from Mek’sha or the wierd hodgepodge soup spacers put together out of their remaining rations.

He is definitely spontaneous throwing himself constantly into situations where he has to ride by the seat of is pants. For a more serious mission like sneaking into an enemy base he might memorize key some bullet points.

As his crew grows bigger he’ll learn some more organizational skills to be a good captain. But he’ll always be that guy that needs someone else to do most of the planning.

The thing Tol’Raz gets most stressed about is living up to his own expectations. He wants so badly to be the best Captain that he’d stress out about the little things that he’s afraid he isn’t doing well enough.

The other thing that would wig him out big time it big time would be meet someone idealizes. This really true if he has to work with them, he wants so badly to succeed, especially in front of them.

Tol’Raz wants to the guy that people can rely on. However his inexperience means that he has to suffer through doing the things that matter to him badly, until he gets better at.

Pokemon headcanons: Names

These are my personal headcanons for the names of the protagonists and some of the rivals of the Pokémon games.

Blue Oak/Green Oak (canon)

Leaf Aoki

Johto:

Ethan Hibiki

Lyra Koto

Kristine "Kris" Mariner

Silver Rosso

Hoenn:

May Hayashi

Brendan Birch (I HC him as the rival character, meaning he's the professor's kid.)

Wally Tsuru

Sinnoh:

Dawn Yugata

Lucas Kagayaki

Barry Palmer (I HC that his dad Palmer goes by his last name.)

Unova:

Hilda and Hilbert Grayson

Cheren Kuroki-Petrov

Rosalind (Rosa) Whittaker

Nathanial "Nate" Blake

Kalos

Serena Fontaine

Calem Belmont

Alola

Elio Taiyo

Selene Yoru

Notes (mostly based on headcanons):

I HC Hilda and Hilbert to be twins, so they have the same surname.

Cheren is part Sinnohan (so the Pokemon world's equivalent of part-Japanese) and part "whatever the Pokemon equivalent of Bulgarian is."

Ethan and Lyra's surnames in my headcanons come from their canon names in Japanese (Hibiki and Kotone.)

Elio and Selene are originally from the Kanto region before moving to Alola. Their surnames mean "sun" and "night" respectively.

Nate's surname comes from the English name of his manga counterpart.

I think i cracked it, the reason everything produced in the times of the High Republic is soo good compared to modern Star Wars, tldr its because of pain.

See, in all the works that date during the High Republic (specifically during George's ownership of SW) there's this fearlessness to show pain and tragedy and death, and i know it sounds like "everything for the children these days is sanitized!" but think for a second if Revenge of the Sith would be something Disney would publish these days and that's your answer, but that's just a tangent meant to emphasize the difference between Og SW and new SW, because what Og SW had was strife, and you the viewer knew that, because every time you booted up KOTOR or played Phantom Menace you knew what was coming, you knew to expect the isle of happiness in which the characters lived to slowly sink beneath the waves of tragedy and you'll see it happen as the characters around the story just dug up their own fates, in very much George Lucas fashion, and THAT is what made the work and the small moments of levity to taste so much sweeter, because you see the characters who you've grown attached to suffer so un-justly that when you return to the good times you can't help but appreciate the good and mourn it's departure.

The reason new SW does not achieve this is because the characters are dealing with the aftermath of the destruction of the baddies, its the birth of the hope for the future, its when you look at the horizon at the END of the movie, yes new problems may arise but the big hurdle is done and Disney didn't cultivate the joy from the Alliance's victory as it should, because instead of giving us proper post-war optimism (as it fits the real life post WW2 countries counterparts and fantasy sci-fi proper) it stuck only with the brooding post-war trauma, and while yes, that is also a very realistic take it still lacked verily from the former and thus there is no reason why we should mourn a character's strife if that is all we've seen from them, its like watching paint dry, nothing particularly changes, just a new villain here and there, the new character discovers new powers, new info, but there is no resolution, no reward for their strife, and even if they were going for a bleak post-war future (which they didn't and it also doesn't fit SW's constant theme of hope for a better future) it still ends up looking incomplete for the mere reason that they don't want to shut the book in case they need to milk the cow some more.

My point with all this was not to bash new SW though, my point was to use it as a comparison to highlight how Og SW built itself on a foundation of hope, how it showed us the height before the fall, how it is possible to make Shakespeare in space and leave all of us with broken hearts and looking hopefully into the future.
