this screenshot without context looks like sanji just discovered something about himself
anyways am i losing my mind or are the Concept Arts by wit studio actually just traced from oda's art. like obv ofc theyre mimicking his style best they can (which i dont really see any merit in bc like. if u want to see one piece as close to oda's style as it is why not just. read the manga.) but like did anyone else notice the little concepts are just like. some traced bullshit LOL . like idk maybe they Meant to trace to again FULLY MIMIC oda's style but like. idk. that just makes it a million times more lifeless to me bc girl thats not your concepts that just. oda's concepts. LOL.
(also im an artist so i know the difference between tracing and referencing. theres no way for lines to be one to one like that with "referencing" but again maybe they meant to trace and this doesnt matter but its just something thats making me dislike the adaptation even more LOL)
remember when Law went to Egghead bc i do
hi!!! penguin x shachi for the reqs please? <3
Bro..😔💯
I’ve been searching you 4ever and now I know it’s you who wrote that thing bout shanks I looked at one of people I follow and they reblogged with their own meta about panel with mihawk When he goes and meets shanks He has the same thing going on The scar cover The meta said shanks has to feel guilty for losing arm and now he can’t finish rivalry with shanks Shanks still wants to duel but it will never happened
What do you think? Since you wrote so much about the theory I ask u Finally it’s you I found you
hi, thank you so much for sending this!! i'm glad you were able to find me, and i'm sorry for making you wait so long for a reply, but i'm here now!
i'm glad you brought this to my attention; i honestly didn't remember the existence of this panel, but you're right in saying it looks a lot like the ones i analyzed in this post, so i will briefly explain what i think about it.
there's something that sets this panel apart from the ones i included in my meta post, and it's the context in which it's placed. in this particular moment, the reader is meant to see shanks from mihawk's point of view, while still maintaining a sense of suspence: mihawk isn't afraid of shanks, but he's still alert while approaching him; at the same time, the reader still doesn't know who mihawk came to look for, and the scar is a very distinct characteristic that would kind of "spoil" the reveal. i think the scar was hidden mainly as a way to keep the suspense high, to put it simply.
i don't think the fact his scar is covered is linked to his missing arm, or his rivalry with mihawk in general. however, it's true that mihawk was seeking out shanks to inform him about luffy's bounty, so the paneling might have also been used as a little callback to the moment when shanks lost his arm in the first chapter!
in conclusion, you were right, anon, in pointing out how the panel mirrors the ones from chapter 1 and chapter 434; however, while those two instances were meant to portray shanks's weakness, i think this one does the exact opposite: it channels strength, in a way that is characteristic of shanks throughout the whole manga.
novel law's english localization has just been announced!!!
even though my first language isn't english and we already have an official localization where i live, i'm still celebrating. i hope this gets more people interested in the novel! it's full of information on how the heart pirates were born, and it gives a new perspective on law and how he manages grief. i think it's a must read for every heart pirates fan, so i'm glad they finally decided to publish an official english translation. make sure to grab a copy when it's out!
core four heart pirates my beloveds <3
god i miss law so much i might go insane if he doesn't appear in the manga soon
i love how every member has their own unique pose. i'm sure they thought about this for the longest time and spent days practicing it too... they're so cute. just a bunch of dorks united by their love for their captain
There’s a lot of discussion on Yamato’s gender. And the one take I see particularly often when it’s brought up, is about how Kaido ‘forced’ Yamato to be a man.
So, I wanted to explore this train of thought. And explain why this just isn’t true.
Within the canon of the text, these are the only times Yamato has been called female, daughter, or princess.
(Chapter 984, pg. 17)
The first time is right after Yamato is properly introduced to the audience, and is following a panel where Luffy questions his gender.
(Chapter 984, pg. 17)
Here, Yamato explicitly says that he chose to be a man, like Oden was.
So it appears that the introduction Oda box was more to indicate Yamato’s birth sex, to confirm to the audience that yes, he was born a woman. But Yamato himself is confirming that while he was born female, he is choosing to identify himself as a man, due to how Oden inspired him.
After this moment, Luffy affirms Yamato’s gender by calling him by the nickname “Yama-o”, which is what he calls Law and Kid by as well.
(the rest under the cut. this is an EXTREMELY long post)

Please more thoughts about Penguin x Shachi 🤩😋
of course anon!!!
god i just cannot be normal about them. they make me insane. paradoxically, the more i'm fixated on a ship the harder it seems to find the words to talk about them. seeing them or even thinking about them at all just makes my mind shut down lol. but i'll try my best to write something that isn't a nonsensical ramble about how they make my brain short circuit <3
something i love about them is how insanely close they seem to be. actually, that's the main reason i ship them. every moment one of them is on screen, the other is there too, right beside him. it's something so comforting but also so concerning, not in a bad way of course, but in a "what the fuck is wrong with them /affectionate" way. and the thing is, nothing's wrong with them, they're just like that! they've spent their whole life together, never a moment apart, so of course they're going to keep spending every waking moment attached to each other's hip. and the whole crew has just accepted it. no one ever questions it, it's just a given that they'll always be carrying out their missions together.
actually, we saw someone questioning it once, in the first chapter of law novel's second installment. i've been meaning to talk about this in a (long overdue) separate post, so i won't go into detail on it, but this is the gist of it. when something kept the two of them apart for the first time, it was an actual disaster. both of them almost cried in front of the rest of the crew because they were made to sleep in separate rooms, and they weren't used to it; penguin was the more mature one about it, but when shachi started to complain about the decision, penguin almost cried. law, bepo and hakugan laughed at shachi, because the whole thing was so stupid to them: i mean, a 17 year old crying about not being able to sleep in the same room as his buddy? but penguin didn't laugh. he made fun of shachi a bit, but then there he was, trying his hardest to keep his composure and not end up getting ridiculed like shachi did. yeah. i can't believe this moment is canon either.
what i'm trying to say is, they've both proved, in different ways, that their bond is very, very important to them. it's essential to their wellbeing, i'd say. they just work better together, and no one is allowed to come between them. that's exactly what i love about them.
