thinking about little luffy being so interested in the beetles and butterflies he saw around in the woods but always frustrated bc he couldn't learn more about them. so one morning ace and sabo secretly go to a library while luffy is still sleeping to steal take some books about entomology and luffy is so so happy he hugs them so hard they can't breathe (ace complains loudly right after that but sabo can see him smiling against his shoulder when he thinks no one is watching him)

i'm thinking about writing weekly chapter reviews/tiny analyses but i don't know if any of you would be interested in that... idk. thinking about it

I wish I could like buggy and mr3 but after he made fun of buggy suffering I can’t like him… so unnecessary of him, even Alvida was nicer and she would sell him for a chip in a second 😭

Also I think cabji is much more less known? I see some buggy3 art or bugvida, never heard of cabaji in ships

omg really? i swear i've seen a handful of buggy x cabaji fanart over on twitter, but never anything with buggy and mr. 3

also, ships are very personal, taste is subjective, it's alright if you don't like them! personally i read that moment as a throwaway gag so i didn't think much of it...

I really didn’t expect shuggy to be this popular :o like yeah I guess it has more fans but it’s one of the three op ships there??? I really thought they weren’t like that

yeah me too honestly!!! it was a big surprise (positively). i knew shuggy nation went hard on tumblr but i expected other ships to take their place in the top 100, for example i really hoped namivivi would be included.

i think the live action really helped shuggy become more popular and that's great!! praying for the ship to grow even bigger with season 2...

Here are all the requests I got the other day! This was super fun! I can totally see myself doing it again some time in the future.

^ I did two exploration sketches for Penguin & Shachi! They're a package deal so of course it was always gonna be both of them. You can also see a random Yonji for warm-up lol. These also gave me the chance to practice a few art stuff I've wanted to work on!

Sanji kicking Luffy might be unironically my favorite gestural drawing I've done so far. Thank you for that one!

I got to explore a more complex pose / interaction between 2 characters with Shachi and Penguin + downward head angles!

Caesar has some funny perspective / foreshortening with the proto-SMILE in his hand (also, I chose to draw young Caesar since I've already drawn his current design plenty of times lol).

And with Baby 5, I wanted to work with curve & line flow! I chose to go for her instead of Usopp since I draw him like, all the time lmao.

Yamato

There’s a lot of discussion on Yamato’s gender. And the one take I see particularly often when it’s brought up, is about how Kaido ‘forced’ Yamato to be a man.

So, I wanted to explore this train of thought. And explain why this just isn’t true.

First, let’s explore every time Yamato has been referred to by feminine pronouns/gender.

Within the canon of the text, these are the only times Yamato has been called female, daughter, or princess.

The first time is right after Yamato is properly introduced to the audience, and is following a panel where Luffy questions his gender.

Here, Yamato explicitly says that he chose to be a man, like Oden was.

So it appears that the introduction Oda box was more to indicate Yamato’s birth sex, to confirm to the audience that yes, he was born a woman. But Yamato himself is confirming that while he was born female, he is choosing to identify himself as a man, due to how Oden inspired him.

After this moment, Luffy affirms Yamato’s gender by calling him by the nickname “Yama-o”, which is what he calls Law and Kid by as well.
