happy 20th anniversary sinbad!!! a very special movie that unfortunately bombed super hard and was immediately forgotten by everyone. except me! i love this movie and i think there’s a lot to love about it: beautifully fluid animation and great character designs, compelling story, an iconic and gorgeously animated villain, roots in greek mythology, great action sequences and a killer score. at the heart of it lies the complex, tender and tragic dynamic between sinbad, proteus and marina that i’ve been obsessed with for the past 20 years.

it could’ve used some rewrites and sadly some of the cgi has not aged well, but if you’re an animation lover, sinbad is worth your time; it doesn’t deserve to be forgotten like it has been, and it certainly doesn’t deserve to be blamed for killing theatrical hand-drawn animation (katzenberg if i see you on the street it’s on sight). if anything, this movie is a reminder of how stunning and full of personality hand-drawn animation can be! i think it’s something special and that it deserves to be remembered fondly. a very happy 20th anniversary to dreamworks’ last traditionally animated film!

I find it absolutely disgusting that I don't see enough angst and fluff written about Jim and silvers FATHER AND SON dynamic (STAY AWAY WEIRDOS I TRIED LOOKING FOR CUTE FICS AND IMAGINES AND ALL THAT CAME UP WAS THESE TO BEING SHIPPED IM NOT HAVING IT ) so ill take it upon myself to do some writing .some of the writing will take place on the legacy or just take place at the academy ill make sure to include stuff when he gets promoted as captain and does captain things(basically just him having near death experiences and risking his own life for others and giving the crew a heart attack) umm do I smell more of Jims character development being written cause ummm yesssss. ohhhhh I'm also taking request. absolutely no smut.

ill make sure to include Kate and make them have a like best friend's relationship (to be fair I don't really see them dating to me the thought seems kinda forced and awkward) oh I'ma make her admiral cause yeah she's that queen. like I can see them having a friendly rivalry during the academy days but I don't wanna write it with them straight up hating each other I'm low-key tired of that trope why not “oh hey ur cool but I bet I can do this better than you”and them getting into trouble and have them seek out their own goals also helping each other accomplish that. 

also Jims mom doesn't get as much recognition that she deserves so ill write about her too and ill make sure to include Doppler and amile also the children oh yeah and b.e.n. 

also I'm a have a specific time line or age so there's no confusion when things take place while I'm writing these shorts.

on the legacy hes 15 (pretty sure he actually was 15)

when he's learning at the academy he's probs 17 (jims15 when he attends the acsemdy but I can imagine him learning their would span up to 2 to 3 years) and after those 3 years when he's 17 he”ll have to gain more on deck experience so he can be granted the captain position. (not exactly sure how it would've worked in the movie but aye fanficition)

and when hes like a captain hes like in his 20s , idk if what age Kate would have been in the sequel but pretty sure it would've ben close its either one year  older or younger.

also it doesn't always have to be angst too or piraty things it could just be Jim doing normal teen things with Kate , like them going out for new outfits or something and possibly riding down an escalator on a mini boat they found at a store in the mall (im mean if they even have a mall or something )

I'm establishing Kate and Jim have an inside joke between them  where they both actual dated for a while to see if they really liked each other that way, but the break up was mutual cause they only saw each other as friends, and when people see them messing around  with each other like they'll go “ahhh you guys are such a cute couple” and then Jim and kate both look at each other with fake disgust and be like “ewww thats my ex” and like they'll pretend to be on  dates at resturants to get couples discounts.

im also gonna be writing about Jims dad Leland and how they both meet while Jims on leave , he gets deployed to the same place where his dad is . I really like the theory that his dad was in the navy too cause honestly it's the most realistic one out there.

most of the angst will involve Jim dealing with trauma and I might as well make up a space war and him spiraling cause hes captain and doubts himself. but alas Kate and silver are their to keep him in check. ohhh IM ALSO GONNA BE ADDING IN A FEW OF MY TREASURE PLANET OCS TO SPICE UP THE FRENDSHIP DYNAMIC CAUSE I NEEDA SPACE SQUAD.

the voice actor for proteus has a nice voice but damn its deep.

I really hate the Spanish dubbed version of proteus they made his voice so deep for no reason. every time he spoke I couldn’t take him seriously. sinbad is the only one that sounds decent not gonna lie.

Ok this is completely out of the blue but like I just realized something when I watched a clip recently, proteus has gotten bodied 3 times and still had the gal to get back up , like wow he can really take a hit.

Kinda wanna know how his training went when he was younger or what type of shit he must’ve done with sinbad to even have such pain tolerance and stamina

Like he gets tackled by Sinbads crew head first to the floor

Gets hit by a huge tentacle in the cabin when fighting (flirting😌✨) with Sinbad (literally flips him and lands head first , I will insert pictures later-yess I have pictures) his body is literally launched off the ground

Gets hit with tentacle again body slammed to the floor and still gets up , honestly at that point I would’ve stayed down

Can’t imagine how tired he felt when that adrenaline rush came down, most definitely crashed in bed while the celebration was still being prepared when he arrived

(ok this is just my opinion so please no hate u can disagree with me on this ,thats fine also sorry im all over the place I just rewatched this movie and the potential it had but never got a second chance angers me to the core) lol excuse my grammar im rage typing.

I DONT WANT A REMAKE I WAnT the SEQUAL THAT WAS CANCELEDDD, (AND THE SPINOFF SHOW ),this movie was not a flop.tragically it got overshadowed by two movies that where gonna come out the same year as treasure planet. ughhhhh I would have loved to see them expand on this and I would have loved to have seen more of Jims character development after ,while he's at the academy. OMG also if the sequel did come out we would've gotten to see silver again. (I would've liked to seen Kate and what role she plays In sequel besides being the love interest , im not exactly sure how I feel about Jim having a love interest yet I would have liked them to just be friends in the sequel and then date later on ,idk thats a whole convo for in other day it just seems a bit rushed cause its obvious he used have amendment issues and maybe still does and is working on it so I don't see him getting into a romantic relationship just yet)

if their was a remake I would absolutely hate it, I dont want Jims and silvers special moment to be remade on screen that shit already happend let it be dont change it , also the score “im still here “ I would hate the idea of the song being changed. (the song is perfect as is) till this day it still holds up.

the only reason why I bring this up is because I keep seeing on my insta feed (probably the same instagram post) that some people think a remake would be great ,I personally think that the remake would destroy anything special the original had.

also I love tom holland but I really cant see anyone as Jim Hawkins , besides that it would be amazing if we get to see a sequel in 2d animation again. damn I miss the cast I would love to see them work together again .

I know for a fact some characters would be butchered.

at the end of the movie hes gonna chart his own course and I really wanna see it all the way through.

IN CONCLUSION WHERE IS THE SEQUAL WE NEED A SEQUAL.
