“i didn’t think that was gonna work,” he says quietly, throwing you a little look, before his face goes neutral again, twisting the cap in a wave pattern between each of his fingers.

he offers you another bottle, flashes his palms and shakes out his sleeves before repeating the counter-hit tactic (with a little extra fumbling and a “i messed that one up on purpose, just to be clear”) and even if your brain is rolling around your skull screaming “hands!” it makes it a lot easier to make conversation

Little human I saw you trace your fingers over your scars. I know where each of them came from, I watched as they were carved into your alabaster skin. Why did you do this? What were you thinking? I wanted to peek, to see into your little world but them moment felt,,, private. Something you intended for only yourself. So I did not look. Once you finished this ritual you moved, more than I have ever seen you move in your little terrarium. You fought with books against invisible enemies and ran through more exercises than I thought you would remember. It’s hot in the cell little human, why do you make yourself sweat so much? You didn’t have enough water. I watched as you stumbled then finally crumbled, but you are strong aren’t you? I made you that way. You were simply resting. I can’t ask you why you are doing these things, I’m not allowed to. The place you are in is not a place of gods, it shouldn’t even be a place of mortals. It’s a dead place, nothing there will grow. So why are you trying to little human? You’ve always struggled against what is supposed to be. I hope you succeed this time. A flower in the rot. Goodnight little human. Sweet Dreams.
