Okay, so we start off with the PPG, now teenagers, who are all sleep-deprived or hungover or gay and cheating on their girlfriends. You can put some of this on Utonium, who is borderline abusive in this, but still–they’re pretty shitty.

There’s this three-way battle between Mojo, the PPG, and a giant monster–I guess Mojo is attacking both them and the monster, but it’s kinda unclear–point is, this weird ‘disgruntled lab partner’ version of Mojo dies because of the PPG’s negligence. 

That… kinda seems legitimate, seeing as they accidentally killed someone over their own (and Professor ‘Drake’s’) issues.

Guess how that turns out?

Man, what IS IT with modern Hollywood and writing their female characters as committing heinous crimes, then insisting that any criticism of them is rooted in sexism? Like, geez, projection much?

The script even makes the Professor a scapegoat for the PPG’s character flaws and they still can’t take enough responsibility to admit they screwed up. It’s kinda pathetic. They killed Mojo Jojo just so the PPG could have wangst.

okay, okay, okay. let me say something about this new marvel show:

Kate Bishop is a two-time state champion of fencing, got her black belt at fifteen years old (been doing it since she was five), and has been doing archery since she was around eleven (???), and yet she still can’t fight. She has no real world training when it comes to an actual fight. It’s so refreshing because even Peter Parker knew how to fight and he’s just some kid from queens. (Like who taught him??) Seeing Kate Bishop not know how to fight, and she’ll learn from Clint, is really fun. I can’t wait for more.

Griot, the name of Shuri’s AI, is also the name of the Haitian national food. Nakia was working at a Wakandan Outreach center in Haiti and teaching young people new ways to make efficient use of Haiti’s resources without depleting the small nation. Shuri traveled in a camionette, a brightly colored truck that often has a metal or fabric canopy and serves as ride-share taxis all over Haiti. Vehicle ownership is not very common so traveling by camionette is necessary. They are also called taptaps, possibly because of the sound riders make when they “tap-tap” on the side of the truck to let the driver know they wish to exit the camionette.

And finally, young Toussaint. He shares his Haitian name with the “father of Haiti”, Toussaint Louverture. He was born into slavery and eventually became a freeman. But he also led the most successful slave revolt in history and cleared the road for Haitian independence.
