Although the Gohan in highschool arc was kind of annoying since it wasn’t narratively important in the Buu saga, the concept of the Z kids going to school is actually pretty hilarious.

Sure, Goten and Marron probably hear weird urban legends about their fathers from time to time, but Trunks…

this is out of left field but a book rec list!! specifically, books that have to deal with consumption of women/cannibalism/ecofeminist themes (basically, feminist, food-centric horror)

1. The Vegetarian by Han Kang

This book is SO good but definitely check the trigger warnings. Told from three different perspectives, it follows a woman after she has a life-altering dream that makes her go vegetarian, much to the dismay of her family. The thing that stuck with me most about this book is how it portrays the normalized but profound betrayals by men that women experience. It’s a mix of “The Yellow Wallpaper” and My Year of Meats

2. My Year of Meats by Ruth Ozeki

Another meat-centric book! This one switches between two women, one in America and one in Japan, as they navigate the world of meat consumption and how patriarchy and misogyny are reflected in it. There’s a very mixed-media feel to this as every section starts with a poetry excerpt by Sei Shonogan and one of the main characters, Jane Takagi-Little, is directing a series on American meat consumption to promote eating meat in Japan. All of Ruth Ozeki’s books are wonderful so if you like this, you should read them all.

3. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterriva

This one is straight up cannibalism. It’s about a man, Marcos, who works at a meat processing plant that makes “special meat” (human) and is gifted a “specimen” for him to eventually slaughter himself. The specimen is a woman, Jasmine, who Marcos eventually forms a relationship with. This one is overtly dystopian and although certainly very dark, a little more palatable because it allows the reader to feel more distant from the reality of the book. Of course, though, there is till some very striking commentary on the abuse and exploitation of animals, women, and people as a whole.

4. What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher

This one is different from the others in that the consumption comes from fungus and not literal people, but there’s still a deep-seated sense of rot. The main character, Alex Easton, returns to the ancestral home of their childhood friend as they learn she’s dying. There is a distinct supernatural element to this, but still very heavy with animal and body horror.

5. A Certain Hunger by Chelsea Summers

Dorothy Daniels, the main characters, is a food critic, sex lover, and psychopath. This one, again, explores the relationship between the treatment of women as sexual beings and commercialized consumption. Also, again, cannibalism. However, this one is very White Feminism, so take that into mind.

all of these books are very good but all have very heavy trigger warnings, so please please look them up before reading. happy reading, my pals <3

Stuff in the Dragon Ball series that is entirely real and has happened

- When Goku met Bulma, the first thing she did was shoot him with a handgun - The moon has been destroyed twice - There is a king of the entire planet and he’s a dog - Vampires are real. Werewolves are real. Ghosts are real. Goku is considered a freak for having a tail for some reason (goku’s tail has also been cut off twice) - There was an evil mafia rabbit called the carrot master who turned people into carrots. Goku banished him to the moon; it is implied he died the first time the moon was destroyed - At one point yamcha was actually considered a threat - There was a whole arc about the red ribbon army trying to steal the dragon balls; it is revealed that the RR general wanted to use them to become taller - Characters such as Krillin, Tien and Yamcha are actually some of the most powerful humans in the world but literal space gods keep showing up and killing them - Goku’s cloud that he flies has also died twice - Every character ever shown on screen has died at least one time. Except for mr satan - Mr satan is actually a skilled martial artist by real-life standards, but he lives in a world where kung-fu lets you shoot beams - Muten Roshi is (mostly) immortal and will outlive most of the cast - The pilaf gang, one of the earliest villains in dragon ball, are brought back after the distruction of earth, implying that they’re so incompitent at villainy that porunga doesn’t consider them evil - beerus blew up the dinosaurs, but he did a really bad job and they’re still around - Arale from doctor slump went back in time and stopped the meteor from killing the dinosaurs the first time - Directly before becoming God, kami-sama was apparently one of the most powerful mortals in the universe at the time - Before joining the good guys, vegeta was basically a space realtor - Piccolo jr is both the son of King Piccolo and his reincarnation - aka he’s slug jesus - Piccolo took over the world once, but since then so many people have tried to blow up earth that no one now recognises him - The fact that krillin doesn’t have a nose is a plot point in the first world marital arts tornumant - Goku can use the kamehameha with his feet - There is an all-powerful god of the universe, and Goku used time travel to clone him - Earth has an absurd amount of powerful beings, and the rest of space is largely lacking in powerful mortals, because most of the powerful extraterrestrials either came to earth and died, or got killed by vegeta - the dragon balls have been used more times during the course of this story than they were in all the years before the story starts, and it’s entirely bulma’s fault for inventing the dragon radar
