We’ve all done it.
Whumpee just went through something terrible and doesn't want to let go of caretaker, literally cannot stand to be outside of their embrace since they were rescued. For some reason (you decide) they need to be taken away or out of their arms. Whumpee is screaming, sobbing, maybe even ripping out their hair or acting utterly hysterical, doing anything to get back to them, because that's their safety.
Caretaker is trying to calm Whumpee down, trying to get them to understand that they need to go or need to let go, but they can't.
The best example I have of this is in Infinity war when Peter is begging not to go, clinging onto Tony.
the holy grail types of fanfic
There shouldn't be THIS many rules for fanfiction. "Only read & write on AO3, must be in character and canon compliant if it's not an Au, Perfect grammar, etc" It takes that fun out of it, man.
Idc what you write. It could be the most jaw dropping, pearl clutching, disgusting, dehumanizing, most out of character, criminal stuff. As long as you put a disclaimer that "Hey! This has some unhealthy dynamics, should NEVER happen irl!" It's okay! (I mean, I won't read it personally, but that's fine!)
Upload it wherever. Put it on Wattpad, or AO3, and ff.net, doesn't matter! Read wherever you want. Yeah, I want an algorithm because it's a hobby, so I read on Wattpad a lot, but sometimes I'll also read on ff.net.
It can be out of character, too. It could be the worst interpretation out there, and I wouldn't care. I wouldn't read it, but it's fine. Make one of them a hunk and the other helpless. It's not my cup of tea, but it's fine if it's yours!
Add those weird triggers you want, put in the rare pair, make it out of character, upload it everywhere, IDC. As long as there's a disclaimer for harmful content, it doesn't affect anything!
In summary: Stop adding rules to fanfic and then telling people to write what they want. Do whatever you want as long as there's a disclaimer for harmful content. It's literally a hobby, keep being fun with it.
Severitus where Severus recognizes abuse in pretty much anyone. He's constantly pulling Slytherins aside to talk about home life, Ravenclaws, even Hufflepuffs, but not him.
He's so desperate for anyone to notice, anyone to actually, truly care, to do something, but that never happens.
Severus assigns a detention and Harry just loses it the second he steps in. Severus makes a single comment, and Harry is completely breaking down. He's shouting, screaming, even better if he's breaking things. Like, absolutely crashing TF out, and then he storms out.
When he shows up to classes the next day, he expects to be practically murdered by Snape, but he's not.
1) An apology letter on his desk, explaining his behavior, demeanor, and offering to help.
2) He gets asked to step out, just like he does with the Slytherins.
3) Normal class period.
4) A hug/reassuring words/just a form of comfort, really.
Severitus but instead of Harry being scared of making the wrong move, he wants to make the wrong move. He can't stand the lack of chaos and shouting, he needs to feel unsafe because that is how he feels safe. So he keeps pushing his buttons, and he's getting punished ofc, but he's not being hit. There's no slapping, spanking, kicking, nothing.
One day, he pushes too many buttons for him to believe that he's not going to be hit, but to his surprise, he's not hit, so he loses it. He's screaming, shouting, maybe even crying a bit, asking when will he be hit because he can't handle not knowing.
Severus, calm as ever, maybe even looking down at a book or something, tells him he will never hit him because it's cruel, stupid, or wtv reason.
Cue Harry sobbing because he's never been told something like that, and Severus reassuring him.
Everyone always talks about imagining scenes and not being able to write them, but have you ever had the opposite happen? Cause it's literally me 24/7.
I'll be in the mood to write, having a general idea of what I want, and I can't stop writing, but I also can't keep thinking of things. The last time this happened, I didn't stop for 2 whole days, didn't sleep. Wrote while writing, wrote while crying, literally all day, but I just kept rewriting cause I physically couldn't think of other scenes.
I understand Severus to a nearly unreasonable degree.
"But he joined the death eaters!" Okay? And? His father was a muggle who was terrible to him and others, if there was a military hate club, I'd join too! I hate the military for no reason, purely because of my dad, so, given that he actually had a reason, it's understandable.
"But he's mean to students!" Bro, I would've been fired years ago for child mistreatment, I'd be throwing desks, shouting, etc— hell no.
"But he just walked over James' dead body!" Cool, and I would've taken a selfie, like?? Iconic king?
